Obama's announcement was scheduled just hours after the federal government announced a massive rescue package for Citigroup – which President Bush said he'd spoken with Obama about before it was announced.
Mission No. 1 over the next few weeks for Obama's economic team will be hammering out the details of what the president-elect described this weekend as a two-year economic recovery plan intended to create 2.5 million jobs.

I can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel.
WAY TA GO "BIG O"
Look at that fellow Americans! A press conference with smart people! And no tap dancing!
Good job, Pres. Elect Obama.
Good. At least he is on the ball and getting ready to go to work the day he takes the oath of office.
Thanks....
Lets Go President Elect Obama lets get this country rolling again great job your doing Obama!!!
Bush should leave today and obama should just take over..
His cabinet is starting to look really good. As far as how well they do is yet to been seen. I have confidenince that this team is going to get our country starting on the right path. It's all about jobs baby!!!
Also, reguardless of who you voted for, I want to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING everybody!! May your turkey/ham day be full of happiness and laughter!!!!!!!!
he is inheriting a mess from an administration that has non clue, and no plan and is basicly running out the clock. Too bad therere is still time for them to furthere damage.
Obama is a bit late addressing this, but think that he now realizes that Bush and his buddies are just running out the string.
Will be interesting to see how the market reacts.
I think we hit the jackpot as far as brainpower America.
how do you spell relief.........Obama
Thank God we will have some people in key positions who are
qualified and can get our country on the road to economy.
What is frightening is Bush, Paulson and crew still have the
power to make decisions on the future of our country.
Where the heck is BUSH? He doesn't act like a LAME DUCK – he's acting like a DEAD DUCK. The economy is imploding while "Zero" fiddles....
Time to roll up the sleeves and be prepared to hit the ground running
come January, because there is going to be a hell of alot of work to be done before this mess is cleaned up.
Judgement to lead on day one.
-President-elect Obama
Good luck
No bailout for the automakers!
It's too bad that Amercia has to wait until the end fo January to swear in President Elect Obama.
The best thing Bush could for the Country is to let Obama's Finanial start mking some of the decisions before the remainder of the so called TARP funds are spent wisely.
Giving money to the Banks so executives can continue to receive bonuses is not working.
I never heard of any of them, but I am sure if he chose them they are just as shady as he is. We are up the creek.
PRESIDENT OBAMA, SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A PLAN. WONDERFUL. BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T HAD A president since 2000. dumby bush and crazy cheney have done nothing but destroy this country and just like PRESIDENT CLINTON
I am a little queasy
who had to clean up after a bush. You will to. So our prayers are with you.
way to go President Obama, I have no doubt in your ablility to save this nation from the disastrous eight years damage done by GOP.

I am appalled at how desperately the Republicans seem to want the President Elect to fail, even before he takes office. They are disappointed that his selections thus far have not being as 'liberal' as they expected. That is not patriotic. Get a life!
