First White House Chrismukkah cards accidentally sent

A picture of a Christmas tree is not the first thing you would expect to see on an invitation to an event celebrating Hanukkah, but that is exactly what recipients of invitations to this year's White House Hanukkah reception initially got in the mail.
The invitation sent to American Jewish leaders on behalf of the President and First Lady, requesting "the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception," bore an image of a Clydesdale horse-drawn cart, carrying the White House Christmas tree, with a Christmas wreath-adorned White House in the background.
Mrs. Bush's press secretary, Sally McDonough, attributed the snafu to a "staff mistake" in not printing separate cards for the different White House holiday events, as has been the custom in years past. "Mrs. Bush is apologetic, It is just something that fell through the cracks," she said, referring to the role of the First Lady's office in sending out the invitations.
The card as originally intended featured a menorah given to the White House during Harry Truman's presidency. That mailing was to have gone out today, according to Mrs. McDonough.
McDonough added that the White House had received "dozens" of calls of support from members of the Jewish community to express their appreciation for what President and Mrs. Bush had done for them through the course of Mr. Bush's presidency.

Can we please realize that mistakes happen, and if someone is upset about getting a "Christmas" card inviting them to a Hanukkah party, then they have bigger issues to deal with.
A simple "Happy Holidays" card in blue with a dove for peace or something along those lines would suffice for everyone, and there wouldn't need to be discussion.
This isn't news.
It's a beautiful card, and I'm sure no slight was intended. The members of the Jewish community are highly respected in the USA, so I doubt they will look for some kind of insult or conspiracy.

Secondly, this is just an oops moment... let's not act like we all do everything right. Gosh, we are just trying to find a way to criticize Bush (and it wasn't even him, it was Laura). I forgot, everybody but the President (whoever is in office at that time) is able to make mistakes! Must be nice being perfect.

This is a Christian country founded on Christian principals, so the White House should NOT even be sending out cards celebrating anything other than Christmas! Its Christmas! Not hannuka!

Yeah, Susan Jacobs, it was sad that Bush liberated the Iraqi people, sad he has sent millions of dollars to help aids victims, sad that he protected your butt from terrorism for the past 8 years, sad that he had the courage to defend the right of life for the unborn, sad that he's a man of integrity who gave up drinking years ago and got on the right track but still ignorant people call him a drunkard.
