Obama adviser who called Clinton a 'monster' back

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption=" Power resigned from Obama's campaign earlier this year."]

(CNN) - Samantha Power, the Obama foreign policy adviser who stepped down from her post earlier this year after labeling Sen. Hillary Clinton a "monster," is now working for the president-elect's transition team.

According to the Associated Press, Power is part of a team of foreign policy experts tapped by President-elect Obama to help ease the transition at the State Department - the agency Clinton is expected to head up.

Power is also formally listed as part of the State Department agency review team on the president-elect's official Web site and could directly work with Clinton should she be nominated, as expected, for the Secretary of State job.

Power stepped down from the Obama campaign in March after she called Clinton - then Obama's rival for the Democratic nomination - a "monster" and someone who "is stooping to anything." The comments came in an interview with a Scottish newspaper.

"You just look at her and think, 'Ergh,' " Power also told The Scotsman then. "The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

Power quickly issued an apology for the comments, but resigned her post days later.

"I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton," Power said in her resignation statement.

The Obama transition team did not comment on Power's new role.

Power is currently a professor at Harvard University and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 2003 for her book, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide. In 2004, Time Magazine labeled her one of America's top 100 scientists and thinkers.

I think she was right and honest when she called Hillary a monster. But I am sorry that later she regretted her comment. I guess the reason was that she was forced to state that and then resign. It is good that she is back to Obama administration but if Hillary becomes SoS, then Samantha would be in real trouble because Hillary would get her revenge. Clintons are famous for that. Some dead people can testify for it.

Could the hatefest please end now? This woman has a right to her opinion. Hillary did run a nasty primary campagin. McCain and Palin ran the nastiest and most slanderous campaign in history. We the People are sick of it. If you cannot talk about the issues and what you will do and why we should vote for you then you should not run for office.

I don't want to hear lies and distortions and slander against your opponent. It shows your lack of character and integrity. This woman resigned because Obama would not allow his camp to run a dirty campaign. Sometimes people say things they shouldn't in the heat of the moment. However, constant attacks, distortions of truth, and outright lies we saw the Republicans unsuccessfully use need to stop. The election is over and the Republican Party is still telling lies and tryng to keep their hatefest going.

Obama is a good and decent man and he will be a great President. He has surrounded himself with intelligent and experienced people. He has a huge Republican disaster both economically at home and foreign relation and war nightmares to resolve. It will take all of us in support of OUR President to start to turn this nation around and actually return it to the TRUE values we used to know and could trust from our leaders.

CNN – I don;t care what some person I never heard of said a year ago. If she is qualified for the position she is being given then great, Enough with the tabloid headlines. I thought you consider yourself a true news organization. The headline you used in this story actually had nothing to do with the substance of this story. Tabloid headlines do not become you.

I guess TIME magazine might be better labeled MAD magazine if they think that anybody who works with Obama is a "thinker" at all.

The only thing that seems to matter to Obama is that he forms a transition team made up of the intelligencia. Nothing else matters to this narcissist.

Powers was an Obama surrogate. She said exactly what she was told to by the Obama campaign. Now it's pay-back time, just as it is for all good little surrogates, such as Dashle and Richardson.

Some of these negative comments are so far off base that they don't warrant even getting upset about. They are being made by non-thinking people who don't understand intentional, intelligent leadership when they see it. All they understand are the FOX News and Rush Limbaugh "sound bites". Think for yourselves, and think intelligently. No matter what party and no matter what foibles during an incredibly negatively heated campaign, Obama would be foolish to ignore real talent, and I trust him to use that talent wisely.

Really, CNN? Really looks like I've said it before? Well then POST IT, YOU FLAKES!

Some of you people on this blog really need to just sign off. Has anyone talked to Obama to find out the real reason for hiring this woman? Has it ever occurred to any of you that there is probably a "real story" and a "real reason" that CNN does not know? CNN don't know everything. Neither does either of you! This is Obama's cabinet and he can chose whoever. He can hire Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble as long as it helps to get us out of this mess we're in! Yabba Dabba Doo!

I'm sure Powers and Clinton have had their hugs, kisses and apologies and it's all over with. Washington can't handle any more drama. So stop with the hankering and let's get this country moving. We have about 2 more months! Yippie Yie Yay!

Great! I am glad that she is back and that there is some forgiveness on the part of the incoming Obama administration. Considering all the horrible things Hillary and Bill said about Barack Obama, what Ms Power said was small potatoes.
