Obama calls Indian prime minister

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Obama called India Prime Minister Singh Friday night."](CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama spoke with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh late Friday night, the president-elect's transition team said.

Obama called Singh to express condolences for the victims of the recent terrorist attacks there. He also made clear there is only one U.S. president at a time, the transition team said.

Earlier Friday evening, Obama released a statement on the attacks in India.

You guys are so whiny. It doesn't matter what PE Obama does or doesn't do it will never satisfy you because most of you on this board wanted an anti-intellectual repeat in office (Palin).

And all you haters out there who are asking for a terrorist attack on America...please move to another country. You are no longer wanted here and you contribute nothing to society except stupidity.

  4. President What

When it is international terrorism, there is only one president at a time, but it comes to economy there are two. Obama is cocky and immature with his "Office of the President-Elect", that does not exist, constitutionally.

This guy has such a big ego. Get over yourself!

What do you hate the most that a black man has confidence and doesn't ask master to validate him or that he doesn't see the world the way you, Palin, Limbaugh and little man Hannity see the world.

I have no problem with Obama calling the Indian P.M. I just hope that when he is President and it's time to take action, he does more than just make phone calls. Reaching out to our enemies so that we can "understand" them is not the solution to fighting terrorism. The goal of terrorists is to cause death and destruction and to bring down the U.S. Terrorists don't want to be understood. There should be no negotiation wth them period.

America needs to act quickly to reverse the damages cause by the Republican administration and forestall a global revolution.

did he warn him that his new 'war cabinet' will be continuing to stir up hatred in the mid east? if he had picked people like wes clark/bill richardson, samantha power/ chuck hagel, who know when a war is a 'stupid war', and when it becomes necessary, then liberals would not be so agitated with him.

Guess the right wing wretching will not subside.

Either you complain that Obama is not doing enough or you complain that he is not sworn in and should butt out. Which one is it?

He SHOULD make contact with our allies and get the ball rolling. India is going to be important in keeping Pakistan focused on Al Qaeda. But, it's up to the current president, who looks to be MIA again, to do anything else.

look everyone, there is so much wrong with this blog.

1st, to the person who said "if mccain wouldve won he would send our special forces". – no he wouldnt for a number of reasons.... first of which is he wouldnt be president. not too mention they are all engaged at the moment all over the world. do you have any idea how long it would take to get, lets say seal team 5 out of theatre? and then brief them on the situation? – i served so i am speaking from a certain level of expertise.

2nd – the people and markets who run the world WANT to know what the Obama Admin will do. not a 30 year old guy from PA who voted for mccain. and so far the markets have reacted favorably to his economic picks and at the moment everyone is pleased with his national security team.

closing – let the world leaders and everyone speak with obama, encourage this. we want them all to have an idea of who the american people chose to represent them.

and lets focus on getting rid of terrorism not by the term "war on terror" we need another plan, that one is just not working.

Please lets remember the victims and support the families of those who have lost loved ones.

GET OVER IT ! He is not the PRESIDENT! He has no authority to send anyone anywhere! Learn the rules of government BEFORE criticizing the President Elect. And as for McCains response.... most likely to plow forward in blind ignorance into Afghanistan, then learn to dance, so he can enjoy his daily work out while watching Rome burn.

I am responding to the comments by myron regarding terriorism. November 28th, 2008 11:07 pm ET when he/she stated: i continue to be astounded by the reactions to global terrorism. Has anyone ever thought why these people would think that mayhem or strapping a vest with
C-4 and blowing themselves up is their best option? In stead of the name myron, it should be moron. Would you prefer to meet a wild boar head on without any prepration and no weapon? I do believe there would be 2nd thoughts. Both our current president and president elect have enought common sense to know you have to meet the offender with a lot of courage or else get trampled. I do believe that Obama will continue to not allow terrism to reighn.

  23. Give Peace a Chance Please.

    Give Peace a Chance Please.

The recent attacks in Mumbai have the potential of causing reprisal attacks. This would be just as wrong as the terrorists. Lets take a a page from Gandhi and modify and use his techniques.

    First a Fact:
The only way these radical groups will stop is when modern/moderate Muslims stand up to them. For various reasons this is not happening.

So until there are no terrorist attacks in India for one year we will all boycott any Muslim business. This will not be easy but it is important as much as possible. Don't go to their restaurants, shop at their stores or even hire them. Walk away and do business with a Christian, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, Mormon or someone who has no religious ties.

I know some people say "listen to the terrorists and negotiate with them." This will just lead to more demands and it will never end.

Let us try for peace by a simple boycott, it may be the only chance the world has.

If you can try to send this to one person for every victim of the terrorist attacks. That would be the least you could do
