Rove says 'marketplace of ideas' will decide Palin's fate

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Karl Rove says it remains to be seen what Palin's future has in store."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's rock-star status could solidly position her to lead the Republican Party in four years, but former top Bush aide Karl Rove said the "marketplace of ideas" will ultimately decide her political future.

"Republicans believe in markets, so the marketplace of ideas will decide what the answer [to her future] is," Rove told NBC Tuesday. "These people are going to get out there, campaign, offer their ideas, offer themselves."

Palin has declined to say whether she is officially interested in seeking the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, but has left open the possibility. Palin's popularity among the party's base and firmly established name-recognition would likely mean instant top-tier status should she decide to throw her hat into the ring.

But ultimately, Rove said, Republicans need more time to get to know Palin before embracing her as the party's future.

"Remember she was on the stage for nine weeks in the general election - that’s not a lot of time," he said. "Now we are going to get to a chance see her over a longer period of time."

Where's the Mac in all of the this? What does he think of a President Palin in 2012? I actually think he would vote for Obama.

Palin is nothing more than boob bait for bubba's. She lacks cultural intellectual and academic curiosity. Sometimes you can hear the shrill wind blow through her ears.

I have never seen anyone so uneducated and unprofessional on the political scene like this Palin. Amazing!

Who is Rush to weigh in? Does he have a suitcase full of VIAGRA he is sneaking into a country somewhere to take care of?

**I can't stand Rush Limbaugh who owes President Elect Obama an apology for saying he was lying about his grandmother being sick. That will never happen.

Funny that Rove speaks about a marketplace of ideas appealing to Republican voters. I thought fear and divisiveness where the tools he used to get Bush elected in 2004. McCain and Palin went to the same well this past election too.

Would the Mac still think she's a "wonderful reformer" and "a breathe of fresh air"? I doubt it, he would vote OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!

gee, I thought the Dems won the election? Why are you people so worried abotu Sarah Palin? You have to be, that is the only common sense answer to why you have to insult, slam, and lie about Sarah.
You have to toss comments about her family, her to be grandchild, her way of talking.

    Childish at best.

I have to think, deep down, you people want to ridicule Sarah Palin so bad, because you do NOT WANT her to run against Obama in 2012.

I think your all scared to death of Sarah, her connection with the blue collar america. Her freshness, her abilty to creatt he rock star attitude. Pretty much the same way Obama has.

So continue on children, act like your ont he school playground picking on another child. Because Sarah will still be around, and you just might see more of her in the future.

I hope she gains speed, takes on the republican party, and the Democrats in the next election,,, see you all in 2012,,,, you betcha.

Yes, you Betcha!! I hope she runs in 2012. She is the best news the Dems could ever wish for.

She's as dumb as Joe the plummer and his $40,000 a year job masquerading as someone that is buying a $260,000 a year business. Hey, Joe, your parents used welfare not once, but twice and you hate socialism?

Price for wedding gift certificate to Macy’s Bridal - $1,500(Thank you note will be addressed to the RNC)

The joy of watching Breeze or Tundra(who can remember?), her 17 year old daughter walk down the aisle in a black empire gown because she is 7 months pregnant, while followed by all 6 groomsmen forcibly carrying the soon to be loving husband Lie or is it Eli, to the alter to happily join in wedded bliss - PRICELESS!

After all these nice comments I see, I sure can understand why God doesn't feel like BLESSING AMERICA any longer and its not just about Sarah Palin because the same is true about the other side with their comments about Obama and others. America has been going in the wrong direction for over 30 years. Why would God Bless this nation when we kick him out of our public schools back in the 70's? About the same time the SAT scores started to fall and the divorce rate started to increase. America is in a STATE of CRISIS and it started long before Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, it was obvious to our Founding Fathers to put their faith in Jesus Christ each and everyday.
So I invite everyone who reads this to pray each and everyday and leave the hate mail to Satan.

To NY Republican: idealogical differences aside, Rove DID commit a very despicable crime - he "outed" a CIA operative for political purposes. Now traditionally, compromising national security is something Republicans wouldn't stand for. Except this time, it was one of their own, so all we here are technicalities as to why what he did "might" not fall within the letter of the law. Can you imagine of this had been done by a Clinton operative during his administration? Do you really mean to tell me you would have been sympathetic to him?

    To John,

    You said:

"Have any of you met a republican? Jesus Christ, Mrs. Palin is at least 10x smarter than 75% of those dumbells!"

With such an insightful and statistcally accurate post as yours, I have no doubt that you think Mrs. Palin is smart. And extrapolating Mr. Bush is the second coming of Einstein. LOL!

I am so tired of the Palin reporters calling Democrats "hateful" or "afraid" or "shaking in their boots." I mean are you people stupid?? We don't like Palin for many good reasons. There are more important things to being a world leader than being folksy or anti abortion. She simply is not worldly, or smart enough and if you think these attributes are not important, then you aren't too smart yourself. She is not a well spoken woman and would not be taken seriously by world leaders which in today's times IS IMPORTANT. Sarah Palin will never be elected president of this country. It won't happen. The percentage of you who think she is capable of that job is thankfully very small. It isn't hatred or scared to express our views. You sure express them about Obama and I might add in very ignorant ways.

  22. Disgusted Young Voter

If Sarah Palin becomes the new leader of the GOP party, it will only further secure Obama's renomination in 2012. Americans will not elect this ignorant redneck. Contrary to popular belief, those who believe in the idea of a Christian theocracy are in the minority; not all of us are so hateful, racist, self-rightgeous, and narrow-minded. So go ahead- Keep talking about Palin. Keep running stupid news stories about her. The rest of the world is laughing at her, and so are intelligent Americans.
