Rove says 'marketplace of ideas' will decide Palin's fate

Karl Rove says it remains to be seen what Palin's future has in store.

Karl Rove says it remains to be seen what Palin's future has in store.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's rock-star status could solidly position her to lead the Republican Party in four years, but former top Bush aide Karl Rove said the "marketplace of ideas" will ultimately decide her political future.

"Republicans believe in markets, so the marketplace of ideas will decide what the answer [to her future] is," Rove told NBC Tuesday. "These people are going to get out there, campaign, offer their ideas, offer themselves."

Palin has declined to say whether she is officially interested in seeking the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, but has left open the possibility. Palin's popularity among the party's base and firmly established name-recognition would likely mean instant top-tier status should she decide to throw her hat into the ring.

But ultimately, Rove said, Republicans need more time to get to know Palin before embracing her as the party's future.

"Remember she was on the stage for nine weeks in the general election - that’s not a lot of time," he said. "Now we are going to get to a chance see her over a longer period of time."

  2. Seriously?

Excuse me while I go throw up. The only place this woman is a "rock star" is in her own otherwise empty head. It's truly beyond all comprehension how any serious person of any level of intelligence could possibly think that Palin should EVER fun for POTUS. I'm completely dumfounded by the notion.

Hmm, Obama's so-called celebrity status was one of the big negatives among Republicans, I thought, anyway. I love how the media uses the term Rock Star with Palin (vs. celebrity). But, I guess f anyone was more of an approximation of Paris Hilton, it would be Palin.

The best thing the GOP can do for Palin is advise her to get an education as well as her husband and children so they can get off welfare. Palin is way out of her league and how she ever began a governor is very questionable.

Dress Palin is shorter skirts and lower tops and she will be a hit with more guys. The girls already dislike her because she is so stupid and that's a reflection on them and they don't like it. Again, give the boys some more skin and watch her ratings go up. On a serious note, Palin stay in Waselo and watch accross the water at Russia for us so they don't snick up on us!

Palin will do what Palin will do. Why is that spawn of Satan, Rove, doing still in the lime light of the media?

From what we saw in those 9 weeks, it will take at a minimum of 4 years for her to even come close to knowing what she should have known to even attempt a presidential run. That she also bashed the democrats as she did will not win her any votes from them or the more moderate independents. The GOP is on a road to failure with Palin at the top. I just don't understand why any of the top republicans are so afraid to say anything negative about this woman since the election is over. Talk about a bunch of loosers.

Well, if Palin's ideas are what gets her into the White House the country has nothing to worry about – she has no ideas!!! All she can do is criticize Obama and divide the country with her ugly rhetoric.

Maybe if she took the time between now and 2010 to read a book or two, she might actually have something to contribute. (I say 2010 because that is probably when campaigning for the next election will begin – UGH!), she

Palin is the current standard bearer for the Republican party. She represents style over substance, negative campaigning, pork barrel politics, big government socialism, bigotry and censorship. That is apparently what the party believes in and that is what they will need to run on in two and four years.

Palin has no ideas. She talks fast with no substance. She can't think for herself. No thoughful ideas, just sound bites repeating what she has said in the past. She lacks critical thinking skills. She is the person who talks loud just to be heard and loves listening to herself speak.

Mooseburger is extremely popular with the basa of the Republican Party – a party which is shrinking on a daily basis and has over the past two years lost control of the House, Senate, Presidency, Governors and a ton of state houses/senates and cities.
This is the main problem with the Republican Party – unless you are a far right wing "Christian Evangelical" you can no longer stomach being part of the Party.

Palin should build her resume for 6 years and run in 2016. She can play kingmaker in 2012, which will also increase her stature.

Of course, this means she will have to find a cause other than ambition, book-banning, and energy company profits for 6 years.

And you, Mr. Rove need to be indicted for the crimes you committed against the country. Besides that, you are irrelevant.

In the so-called "marketplace of ideas", Palin's will be the only store that has no inventory.

Sarah will have to do something like, find the cure to everlasting life or something like that for me to ever think she is a nothing more than an empty headed barbie who con'd her way into power by using her looks and flirting with the right people. She will never get elected President. Like I said when The Republican Leadership uh I mean when McCain chose her, if you wanted to show diversity and show that women can lead, there were so many other choices out there, Kay Bailey Hutchinson for an example, that would have been a logical choice. But instead, you decided to pick the dumbest, most racisit, most ignorant woman you could find. Good looks and so called small town mentalities will not get you elected President of the United States. And now you are parading her around as the next great thing in the Republican Party???? It's almost if the Republican leaderships want's the Republican Party to disban but instead of just saying it, you do things to make people leave, like promote a unqualified, not so smart, lying, racist, excuse for a woman to be the next leader of your party. That i swhy America is scratching their heads right now.

Rove is a smart man, and I am one who does listen to what he has to say. But regarding Gov. Palin, here rise to fame will be quickly followed by a crash back to obscurity.

If she is the brightest in the marketplace of ideas, Republicans will be waiting 8 years before getting a chance to win the White House.

    Rove—Palin, from bad to worse.
Rove, whose head is always full of ideas, most of them awful, cannot be seriously considering an empty-head like Palin, who can't string together one coherent sentence, let alone an idea with many coherent thoughts, to lead the GOP.
I mean: Is that the best or even the only person they are considering for this important post?

Sarah Palin must know that one never gets a second chance at a "first impression" I'm not sure she truly understands that her time came, and she blew it.

Sarah Palin is a no show politician who is using her beauty for political gains. My advice is go to Hollywood, Sarah. You will better compete with Paris Hilton and Britney. Don't foul yourself, Miss Alaska, by trying to engage Obama or Biden.

All Democrats switch to Republicans to vote for Palin in the primary. This Obama will have a cake walk.

If PEOTUS Obama has a good first term and is highly favored to win reelection (think Clinton 1996) then the republicans may just go ahead and nominate her anyway figuring that they have nothing to lose since they have to run somebody. If she gets slaughtered then they can tell her "hey you had your chance now go away".
