More spending on Palin revealed

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

Big Deal, CNN needs to report on more relevent material instead of clothes. Why not report on how the Dems are getting ready to raise our taxes to fund their promises.

Why have we not heard yet what charity these clothes went to? The election was over last month, surely she doesn't still have the clothes and other tangible items that the money was spent on.

what about how much Obama spent on his campaign? does anyone know how much he spent on that 30 min ad right before the election? Millions and millions! Absolutely Ridiculous! What Palin spent is just pocket change compared to Obama. Give me a break already!

    Breaking news:
We just found out that President-Elect Obama was not born in Hawaii
as his birth certificate indicated but rather was born in MARS in outerspace.
Can some element in the Republi -kkk- an party take this to the supreme court next week.
A party of racist bigots is grasping at straw.

It's amazing that Palin has/continues to slack around after the election last month. It speaks volumes she is doing this during one of the worst recessions during the past century, where many economic indicators are in serious decline and have not been seen this low for several decades or ever (in case of consumer confidence), yet Palin is away from Alaska's helm. Especially while Alaska is starting to show signs of serious fiscal trouble.

This is not a time for showboating and Palin has showed me she is more worried about her popularity than her state. I will not be voting for her in the Republican primaries in 2012.

I think if people were stupid enought to donate money to the RNC, which in part ended up with Sarah Palin's clothes be it.
I wish you had donated money to hungry children instead. Try World Vision, and Feed the Children next time. You will have something to be proud about, vs. Sarah's nice wardrobe.

She is a gold digger , can't you see that. She is useing you for a sucker.
Now watch her bill the state of alaska for being out of the state.

Matt you are absolutely right. If she wasn't a she, the expenditures wouldn't have been there. Sex sells, and they knew it. They gave her hollywood star, red-carpet treatment to brand her and sell her as a starlet.

And she went along with it all without blinking.

The point is not that the male politicians also wear expensive suits, nor is the cost of Michelle Obama's inaugural gown. The WHOLE POINT is that Palin used taxpayers' money to dress herself and her family. The Obamas and the McCains spent for their own wardrobe so it should not even be questioned.

Quit justifying the Palins' superstar complex. They're so addicted to the limelight – quite understandable from people coming from the boondocks...

i am so disappointed in the republican party, they have sent the message that materialisum is more important than intelligence. i'm sure palin could have worn her own clothes, especially her own underware, shame on the republicans, but she could have said no thank you, double shame on palin.

CNN – enough with Palin already!!! The election is over and there clearly are more important things to be reporting! This is tabloid "journalism".

I would forgive the whole mess if she and her family would put each item up on Ebay auction and give all proceeds to United Way or the Red Cross.

Maybe it would be a good idea if Sarah took a ride on a moose over to Russia and rode off in the Seberian sunset.

I'd say that should only be asked if someone else is paying the bill.

By the way, after the Inaugural her dress will be added to the collection of dresses from previous First Ladies at the Smithsonian. Those were all "one day" gowns, too. Republican and Democrat alike.

For those saying it is sexist to care how much Palin spent on her and her family's clothes: Probably the reason that no one is asking Obama or Biden how much they spent on their clothes is because THEY spent their money on their clothes. Their clothes are theirs. The Democratic National Committee didn't pay for them to dress or style their hair or for their spouses or children to dress or style their hair.

Why do the clothes have to be donated to charity? It's like there's something wrong with a vice presidential candidate being dressed properly. If Sarah Palin had dressed like "ordinary" in sweats, jeans or sweaters then she wouldn't have been "professional" enough for the media. She can't win! I say there should be some perks for taking the treatment she did in the media, let her keep the clothes for crying out loud!!!!

Give her a break, it's common knowledge that a typical "hockey mom"
spends $180K every nine weeks on her wardrobe. There are four seasons a year, a working mom / hockey mom has to look her best.
