More spending on Palin revealed

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

I guess it takes more then lipstick on a pig to clean her up for the public. The RNC has given us Bush, Palin, Chaney, Rumsfeld, and Gonzalez, that wasn't enough so they put a pig in lipstick and high fashion clothes to reel us in. However, the American people were not buying!

As much as I'd like to see Sarah Palin go away, the question remains as to whether all the clothing (I'm willing to let her keep the panties at the least) has been returned or given to charity. As far as I can tell, although we were told this would occur, nothing has happened. Given the amount of attention this story has been given, I would think the RNC would want to announce it.

That said, can we ignore her otherwise, please?

CNN should just read these comments to see that their coverage obviously attracts THE most liberal idiots in the world. If their coverage attracts these idiots it is obviously as slanted. You libs are no better then the Right Wingers who impeached Clinton. Same people. You guys should throw a polar opposite idiots party. Fortunately, every leader we elects chooses to ignore the polars. If an intelligent thoughts ever enters your brains please post it to prove me wrong. Go Detroit!

LMAO, someone down in this thread of comments called Sarah Palin brilliant. That is the funniest thing I have heard in a long, long time.

Palin is as near to the opposite of brilliant as is possible.

She is not, and will not ever be, my "role model," as John McCain insinuated she should be. As a woman, I want a woman in office. But I want a woman who supports women rather than setting them back 50 years. I want a woman who supports equal pay for equal work for women. I want a woman who strings together complete, coherant sentences. I want a woman who can answer basic questions about government, foreign policy, and current events.

As for her clothes, this remains a news item because the RNC lied when it discussed them. They haven't been given to charity, and likely won't be. She's still wearing them, even as recently as this last week at a campaign function for Saxby Chambliss in Georgia. When John Edwards received a $400 haircut, it was all over the news. Why should Sarah Palin's astronomically expensive wardrobe and hair and makeup be treated any differently? The woman saw an opportunity to make some cash and decided to reel it in. I don't have a Louis Vuitton bag, but her 7-year-old daughter does. That's beyond ridiculous.

Why are all you people whining? Let this brain-dead bimbo run in 2012 and Barack can cruise through.

Did you notice how the RNC was making sexist comments about Hillary when she was running against Obama in the primaries talking about how "when times get tough, she can't go running behind her apron strings" and then when Palin entered the picture, they were talking about the media's interest in Palin's qualifications as overblown and sexist. Man it sure sucks when the $180,000 bill is on the other foot.
This woman represents the average American like Gomer Pile represents the average American. Her anti-science beliefs, kill and drill politics, and ability to speak in religious tongues aren't what I would consider traits of the average American.

Oh yeah, that's what I really want.... her Victoria's Secret underwear that she "donates to charity". Gag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did we have any charges at 'Maternity R Us' for her darlin' daughter??

And they couldn't find any cheaper stores than Neimans & Nordstroms & Saks?????

If this is the way the Republicans operate, God knows why we're in the financial toilet like we are right now.

First, she's a GOVERNOR. Shouldn't she own professional duds?!! Second, as an example of the absurdity, in Chicago, police officers have to pay for thier own uniforms, bulletproof vests and guns(!) if they get the job. Not to mention, they actually have to prove thier ability and competence first...

What did she need from Victoria Secret? Well, I guess the lipstick wasn't enough to entice Todd to do her!

Maybe a Govenor from Alaska did not have the pockets to buy the clothes that the public about reporting how much the Obamas spent on clothes. How much does Caroline Kennedy spend on clothes? Gov. Palin did not have Oprah and company funding her every move. So sad this is all that can be reported with the bigger problems in the world.

Well folks we could not have her running around necked could we? I may want to change that thought at a latter date in time, and I suppose several others may agree.

I personally think businesses may have gouged her, because of political motives. Just some thing to think about, because not all stores are on the up & up.

What bothered me most was her kids always on the campaign trail with her. She said they went to public school. Really? That's a lot of flying everyday then to be in school during the day and the lower 48 every night. Now we know her kids were not at school. They were being tutored. Who was paying for that?

I love the fact that no one is up in arms over Michelle Obama's $5,000 per day stylist that has been working with her for the past 2 years... Everyone should quit complaining- for better or worse, IMAGE is one of the most important things to us Americans. Look, Obama won it with a slick logo, great marketing, and a bunch of blanket promises that have now disappeared from his vocabulary (and website)...

DS Blakenship said: And Hussein Obama gave his wife a $30,000 ring! He has $30 million left. Why doesn't he redistribute it to those less needy???????????

Wow, if this is typical of the GOP supporters, go Dems forever. It is Barack Hussein Obama you racist, scared idiot! Using "Hussein" as if it were a perjorative indicates where you are coming from. The ring story has been debunked; that means it isn't true. Even if it was, P.E. Obama has every right to give his wife whatever gifts he chooses, no matter the price. It's his marriage and his money. You idiot. Should someone tell you what you can and can't give someone? Probably in your narrow-minded GOP world where you need Rush or Hannity or Palin to tell you what to do or think.

As far as giving his campaign money to the needy. Same answer. It is his and he can do with it what he wishes as long as it is within the law. I, as a donor, believe he should use the money to run for a second term.
