[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.bushstreis.cnn.jpg caption="Streisand has long been a critic of the president."](CNN) - Barbara Streisand is among the Democratic Party's leading Hollywood supporters and has charged President Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 elections, but all that seemed like water under the bridge Sunday when the famed entertainer appeared at the White House.
Streisand, who was honored at the Kennedy Center Sunday evening for her legendary career, got a kiss on the cheek from the president at the White House shortly before the event kicked off. Streisand did give the president a kiss back.
The event was so surreal it was played on video for attendees of the Kennedy Center honors later in the evening.
"Art transcends politics this weekend," Streisand said of her venture to the Bush White House, according to the Associated Press.
Though Streisand, who has called for Bush's impeachment, said it would be "lovely" if she instead received the award under President-elect Barack Obama.
You can tell it is a sloooooooooooooow news day if we see an article about two poeple no one is interested in anymore!
Could this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship?
Wow, sounds like some people have as low or lower an opinion of Steisand as they do of Bush. All I can say is that at least whatever Steisand has done has not cost our Country our honor as well as our stability. The only reason he was not impeached was because people did not want to see Cheney in the Oval Office either.
Barbra....Next time .Just say no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's hope she is up on her tetanus shots! What kills ME is that he is retiring to within 10 miles of me. YUCK. Please, Georgie, go home to Crawford and leave Dallas alone!
Barbara Streisand is among the Democratic Party's leading Hollywood supporters and has charged President Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 elections.
Is that why the DNC and the RBC and Streisand and her ilk felt justified in stealing the primary elections from Senator H.R. Clinton?
They are both revolting human beings.
Barbie's whoring herself out again. She hasn't done anything in years, is one of the worst primadonnas in show business and a nasty person. But she'll gladly kiss Little Bush just to get some attention. She needs to go far away with Karl Rove and Sarah Palin and never be heard from again.
Not worth a comment.
I agree with Joe:
EEEWWW, I would also much rather be kissed by our President elect. Still the idea and the picture seem very surreal. It's kind of like matter meets anti-matter, I almost would expect them to both go up in smoke!
She was there to get the layout of the place for her next big shin-dig,
Secretary of Entertainment.
Let by gones be bygones, and just smile for a moment! She's showing she is bigger than the Republicans!
And...? There are more important issues to be discussed and CNN chose this?
@ Aaron
I dunno, she sort of makes me want to throw up a little in my mouth as well, but CNN wouldn't post it the first time I tried to say that because everyone seems to worship the Babbling Babs. Never liked her myself though.
Striesand is being honored along with several others at the Kennedy center. The president always honors these individals. It is a nonpartisan affair. dumb dumb bush has done it for the last 8 years. I'm so glad it will be his last.
Folks don't get spun up over this. It is just a social convention. It does not mean that bush likes babs or that babs likes bush. It is just something that is done at these type of ceremonies.
Double standard? of course it is. many of our social customs are double standards... what about it?
And then she said, "don't tell me just to sit and putter, life's candy and the sun's a bowl of butter....don't rain on my parade!"
I hope she had her shots.
PS to RJN... You ask what SHE has done????!!!!
Barbara kissing the President! What a hypocrite.
I hope she used bleach.
Well thank GOD CNN was here to let us know
Well... the first half of George's weekend was spent at the Army-Navy game in Philly. A sellout crowd (70,000) was on hand. I was there and I didn't hear a single boo. All things considered he probably thought he'd rather be in Philly.
Bush should get a Tetanus injection
I think Babs should have considered it improper to recieve anything for the guy she's been railing about.
After all, if GWB hands you an award of ANY kind, whatever it was for is automaticly diminished, and soiled.
