Clinton, Rice meet for two hours

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/09/art.clintonstate.gi.jpg caption="Clinton met with Rice Tuesday."](CNN) - The State Department is staying mum when it comes to the details of Sen. Hillary Clinton's private dinner with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Monday night.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said the two met for two hours at Rice's Watergate apartment in downtown Washington, and discussed a range of issues.

"They talked just very generally about policy – the challenges, the opportunities, talked a little bit about the job of secretary of state; talked about the quote-unquote 'building' here – managing a big operation," McCormack said.

But McCormack declined to get into specifics, saying instead he expects Clinton and Rice to hold several more meetings.

The world will now pay even more attention to goings on within the State Dept. Ms Rice is way too reserved and boring – an ice queen.

Hillary is more extroverted, personable and approachable. She makes you want to listen to her, you sit up and take notice.

Watergate? Rice lives at Watergate? I don't think I would want to live there. Too much history – bad history. But then, I'm not Sec'y of State.

Does Clinton have the right expierence, as a first lady? Colin Powell would have made a better secretary of state.

Two incredibly talented and popular people meeting to discuss transition. All politics aside, they will be fruitful meetings. I hope that this is not the end of Ms. Rice working for the good of the people.
Remember that George W. Bush brought us the first real diversity when it came to ethnic appointments. No one before Bush did anything remotely close and it already appears that with Obama's appointments, he will not approach the same level of diversity.

The tasks of a Secretary of State are political in nature. Neither Rice or Powell fought for high political office. It is for that reason Senator Clinton will outshine both of them. Clinton has been steeled in the fires of political office and it will show in her work..

The only thing Rice can show HC is how not to be an effective SOS. Rice like Bush will go down as the worst we have had in either position. Rice was a mistake from NSA to SOS.

Hillary will be a great Sec. Of State – how grand of her to accept this job.

How grand of her to support Obama and not to take the nonimation fight to the convention when she had every right to (Teddy Kennedy did it in 1980 with WAY fewer votes and WAY fewer delegates than Hillary had).

How grand of her to raise $10 million for Obama and campaign all over the country on his behalf.

Hillary Clinton is the cream of the crop.

I couldn't believe my ears were hearing right when Rice said she takes responsibility for Bush's blundering errors of Iraq. Rice has sold her soul to the devil when Bush or Cheney have never taken any responsibility or apologized for their errors or is this her way of getting Bush to speak up. I pray that Hillary will serve the America people honorably and we expect the same from Obama. No more coverups, lies and incompetence.

I wonder if they traded stories about landing at airports under hostile conditions

Hillary could recount the terror she experienced at Sarajevo, and Condi could match that with tales about touching down in New York City.

Well, at least Clinton knows where to go to get "trained" in her possible new position. She would do well to spend a good bit of her time with Condie...
