[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="U.S. attorney Patrick Fitzgerald held a press conference Tuesday."]CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) - Hours after federal investigators announced they had arrested Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff on corruption charges, U.S. attorney Patrick Fitzgerald declared Tuesday a "sad day for government."

"Gov. Blagojevich has taken us to a new low," he said. "This conduct would make Lincoln roll over in his grave."

Fitzgerald said the government had bugged the governor's campaign office and placed a tap on his home phone.

Uh excuse me Dean, but Obama is not the one being charged with corruption here and according to the FBI agent in charge, the complaint makes no allegations towards Obama. I suggest you get your facts straight.

The Supreme Court dropped the case yesterday, so apparently they found nothing wrong.

He is a democrat, but that doesn't really have anything to do with story. The last Illinois governor is also in prison, but he was a republican.

nclaw441 you had TO DIG DEEP to find that information.

We know little about this guy now, but it will come out that he and Obama met a bunch of times to discuss his successor and names were mentioned..... but like Rezco, Ayers, Wright, Daley etc, etc, etc, Obambi will have his apologists out there "explaining everything away.

NONE of you sheep can discuss a Democrat screwing up royally witthout bringing up Bush, what wil you do in January 2009 to deal with your BDS?

This is the start of "change" really?

Already he has backed off many, uh, uh, uh, uh, promises, what I meant to uh, uh, uh, say was..............................

You people (disgruntled and disappointed Repubs- no doubt) who are constantly looking for a reason to bash Obama make me sick! Why don't you give it up? Your party lost , folks, and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to see why it's in such a mess!!! Pay attention to the news and you'll find out why... How about giving the new guy a chance? I think he'll do a great job!

The Opposition (won't mention any names here) would have really messed it up (and I'm being polite here), just like the Opposition's campaign was a total you really think "they" would now be doing all the necessary background work to be ready on Day one like Obama is? Don't think so...The right man won the election...Think with your brains, instead of your twisted emotions.

No ... He's President Elect Obama and if you had half a brain and read the articles you would see that the FBI said that the complaint makes no allegations against Obama and in fact it appears to be someone within his campaign who may have very well turned this guy in.

This may be a horrible thing to have happen, but is it not beautifull to know that we live in a country where the check and balances our founding fathers created are working and that no matter what, if you are doing something wrong you will be caught sooner or later no matter what your position in power is.
