Early Blair House check-in for Obamas unavailable

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="The Obamas had been hoping for an early Blair House check-in."]CHICAGO (CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama will not be moving his family across the street from the White House early, despite his request to do so. Blair House, which incoming presidents traditionally occupy 5 days before inauguration day on January 15, is apparently booked in the early part of January.

An Obama transition spokesperson says the family initially "explored the idea" of moving into Blair House early so that daughters Sasha and Malia could start school on schedule. But the family was told there were previously-scheduled events and guests that could not be displaced.

"The Blair House, the President's guest house for visiting dignitaries, is available to President-elect Obama and his family starting January 15, as is historically the case," said Sally McDonough, spokeswoman for First Lady Laura Bush.

"As for any conversation, I don't comment on specific conversations about transition details."

The Obama transition spokesperson emphasized the White House has been "extremely accommodating" to the Obama family, adding that the entire process has been "smooth and friendly."

Ok....Why is that that people cant understand nothing wrong is being done here? Mr. Obama is recieving the same treatment as any other soon to be President would. Why is it he should get special treatment? Is it because he has children? I dont see what that has to do with it. He is not the first soon to be President that had children and had to deal with the same issue. Nobody is saying he cant move in, just that he has to wait to move in just like everybody else. Even his own staff said in the article that he is being treated fairly by the current administration. As far as POTUS Bush using the house to store things he is planning on taking......get a grip. Just take a nice look back at Clinton and look at all the stuff he took when he left. I am willing to bet that most of the past Presidents have taken stuff with them on the way out...nothing new.

Wait what did the Bush twins and Chelsea do. They must have some mental disorder for not moving in early. Wait thats it. Thats why this President has a mental disorder. His parents moved to white house grounds 2 weeks into the school year. Please for the children. Lets not let them grow up to be like GW.

I think all you people getting upset about this must of been kept outta school 2 weeks. No wonder your upset about this you do not want the Obama offsprings to be like you.

I don't understand some of the comments on here. The article did not say that PE Obama was upset about being turned down. It just states he would not be able to move into the Blair Room until Jan 15th. I do not care for Obama nor did i vote for him but come on....enough is enough. No need to bash Bush or PE Obama. Grow up already! I'm sure PE Obama has already made other arrangements to ensure his girls start school on time, great parenting in my opinion.

I would like to ask a question...does anyone here think its appropriate to make disparaging remarks about politicians children? Honestly i think teenage kids who happen to be the children of public officials should not be called names. I am personally appalled at the act but thats just my beliefs/morals. But Minneapple Gal obviously thinks differently. I ask those here is it right to call kids whom you know nothing about names? Any parents here like the idea? regardless of ones political beliefs i hope everyone here is as offended by Minneapple Gal's statements as i am...but then again maybe were simply to far gone to know right from wrong....let me know.

Did any of you Bush bashers actually take the time to read the article? The house is not just for Obama. It's for visiting dignitaries. All President Elects move in 5 days before the innauguration. Sorry, plans are already made. You are going to have to wait until your scheduled time. Geez. Calm down. I doubt this means they are going to have to stay in a box on Pennsylvania Avenue, and I doubt those girls are going to miss any school. You can't always get what you want.

First I cant believe this is front page news......But it's amazing how divided and partisan this nation is. Fact is you may not like Bush or his politics (or anything about him) but he has done more for a smooth transition than any other President handing over the White House to a different party. He made sure Obama's staff could be approved earlier than any administration in history, he started transition meetings earlier than any administration in history and invited the Obama's to the White House for discussions. If you are offended by this denied request you must have been absolutely livid over the condition the White House was in when the Clinton's left office. If you do not know of what I am speaking, google it. This could be a simple situation where Obama asked to move in early because his girls are starting school (not because he feels elite) and the White House had to decline due to prior commitments (not to show up the next admin). We really need to move forward and put these petty differences behind us. We need both parties to work together and focus on the economy which resulted while both parties had control of different branches of the Federal Government.

Here's an idea...go ahead and kick Bush out of the White house now like should have been done when he started the war with Irac and brought about the killing of thousands of innocent people.

If we the people voted 4 Obama we should be able to say where he lives. This is America. I say hold a vote and see if the people want Bush out now. That would be legal, I am sure. And while we are at it, let's tax rich people some more. We need our government to spend more money to get our economy back into good shape.

hard to believe we are not letting him in early?? he bought the election, let him buy a hotel room. I hope in 4 years we won't hear his name again.

If we are smart we won't let that idiot move in at all. Why send his kids to school anyway, he wants the rest of us to work hard so his kids get a big check from the Government every month. Maybe Obama and his Illnois governer can split the money they'll get when the sell his seat and he can offer Bush rent money.

So...Blair House is available for the Obamas on the 15th, when it's supposed to be, but they want to move in early and want somebody else tossed out to accommodate them. Is that the issue?

Bush has already bent over backwards to accommodate these folks but of course that's not good enough. Obama's arrogance is beyond belief.

    Impeach OBAMA NOW!"

You must mean impeach Cheney now; afterall, he and Gonzales were INDICTED weeks ago. Hmmmm, I wonder why that is conveniently out of the news stream?

Why do people get so worked up over a non-issue?

Obama considered moving in early, if it were possible. But the Blair House was already booked.

Get over it. He's a not a God and shouldn't be treated like one.

    End of story.

You all should be ashamed. To the Obama fans, all you are spewing is hate and ignorance. To the Obama-haters, the election is over. To CNN, this is not news. The caption is misleading. You should try focusing on real news like the mess in Illinois. We all need to focus on the distastrous economy and not partisan politics over non-issues.

you asked the question about Palin being racist. Let me give you a couple of examples.

Her whole campaign, empty of ideas, was promoting the idea that Obama was "different" "not of of us""palling around with terrorists. If you can't read the racist undertone here, you are probably one of those idiots who think Colbert is a republican.
Her whole rethoric about real America (white, rural one) and unreal? not real? fake? America, meaning cities where minorities live, is an other example.

But I do think Palin is an extremely strong candidate and I wish you'll pick her to run in 2012.

Whoops, I guess my stuff doesn't get posted on sound off if my opinion differs ever so slightly from the extreme far left. Bye CNN, bookmarks will now be removed, I'll mixx it or digg it instead from now on. Going to find a unbiased sight now.

Wow, some of the ignorant statements coming from you Obama supporters is staggering and frankly frightening in their lack of intelligence.

You'll do anything to bash Bush, even if it means going well out of your way and out of the way of logic to do so.

How is it that he's being uncooperative when this is the way it's ALWAYS BEEN DONE?

Anything to bash Bush, like I said. It truly is a Derangement Sydrome.
