Obama to announce energy posts as Blagojevich questions linger

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="President-elect Barack Obama will meet Monday with his national security team."](CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama is expected to announce key members of his energy team Monday as questions linger and media attention remains on the scandal involving Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Obama likely is to name Steven Chu, a physicist who runs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as his energy secretary, three Democratic officials close to the transition team said last week.

Chu won the 1997 Nobel Prize in physics and is highly respected in energy circles.

To Sweetie and all others of this mindset:

I just don't understand ... Our country was run into the ground by W. Now we're trying to turn things around. Why are you sooooo angry that a W. clone isn't in office? What good would that do us? At least we're trying something different with someone who is ACTUALLY educated (not pushed through thanks to family ties or someone who went to five schools in six years to get the same degree I received in four years at one school). What, do you like the fact that we're in a terrible recession, in a war that seemingly has no end and that we're totally not respected by every nation on earth? I just don't see the appeal.

Wow, Obama is appointing scientists. People who understand what it takes and not lobbyists for the oil industry. How nice.

Keep foaming away right wingers. There is still nothing there on the Governor Blago front. If you are interested in an investigation, how about a real special prosecutor looking into the various messes we have gotten into in Iraq. You know, something real.

Oh for God's sake, this Blago BS is taxing my nerves!! Don't we have more important things in this country to discuss than this slime ball. I am sure that someone from the Obama transition team discussed with the Governor's office a few names that the President-elect would like to see considered. This is done all the time! Get this fool off the nightly news and concentrate on issues that matter! We are about to celebrate a historic day in our nation's history. Let's not have that ruined by this whack job!!!

Sweetie – from all I have read, there is nothing "sweet" about you. Just acid and hatred and ignorance and vitriol.

I'm sorry did I miss something? The Governor's on tape COMPLAINING that Obama and his staff aren't offering anything except appreciation!!!!! So how does this implicate Obama or his staff?

Here's thought – change things up. Instead of a senate replacement being selected (a rather arcane method at best) have what in Canada is called a by-election and have the voters decide????

What a stupid headline. Shame on you, CNN. When will the MSM ever learn?

I guess if I had voted for Obama a little over a month ago I would want the media to drop this story too. Why?? Because it shows you all how you were duped by Obama and the media. But the saddest part is that you don't even care. Obama could be at the center of the whole thing and you wouldn't care.

If this were a Republican, you all would be demanding congressional hearings, trials, and impeachments. This problem is a big one. One that could affect our national security.

If you voted for Obama in Nov, at least be man or woman enough to admit that you made a mistake and take a stand against this kind of corrruption!!

Oh well, some much for "change you can believe in". I can't believe so many of you fell for this guy!!!

I too cannot wait for Blago to be gone. I hope when everyone finds out that Obama had nothing to do with the scandal, the Hooverites (GOP) will crawl back under the rocks they came from.

GOP folks, a presidential election process is the most intense vetting process known to mankind. Hillary Clinton investigated Obama's life and found no corruption beyond his relationship with Tony Rezco. Then, the GOP operation research team thorougly investigated Obama's public and private life, finding little more. Obama is clean, boys and girls. He has Bill Clinton's intellect, minus the moral flaws. In other words, Obama is a powerful leader with a mandate and he has the moral authority to tenaciously pursue that mandate. Enjoy the ride, GOP.

Cindy – I just love it when someone that can't spell calls an ENTIRE political party "idiots". The party is spelled R E P U B L I C A N, there is NO "T" on the end.

Yes I can see that it may be a "pun" but like the SNL skit that a lot of Democrats are offended at, if "republicant" is humor (not just misspelling) it is in poor taste. So is calling a group "idiots" for the actions of a few of that group.

When did CNN and the rest of the socalled MSN cease to be NEWS outlets and become tabloid speculators and ratings watchers? Your air time is filled with egotistical reporters and commentators like Campbell Brown, Lou Dobbs and Jessica Yellin, who are beginning to act like Hollywood paparrazi chasing aroud after the president elect parsing his words and building you nonsense around "if" statements.

Dear "hypocrites" – Can't you just feel the love in your blog. Such tolerance is so "touching". How can go on with all that "sunshine, blue sky and birds singing" leaking out of you. It's amazing that one person can spread so much joy! I wish you could teach your entire political party to love their fellow man as you do. Oops, you did.
By the way what does "guns" have to with story?

This whole impatience with Obama's administration re contact with Blagojevich is much ado about nothing but the media's insatiable appetite for contoversy and to make some where there is none. Jeffrey Toobin has it right – no one really cares. This is simply part of the change we've been promised – that our elected leaders should focus on the work at hand. They (the Obama administration) will give us information when they're ready to give us information. That's good enough for me!

Does anyone remember when Woodward and Bernsteins' articles in the Washington Post that suggested a link between Nixon and the Watergate break-ins were "just media hype"? Just throwing that "out there" for concideration. Besides Obama has intimated that he is "not a crook". Where have we heard that before?

"Dr. Mimi" – It's up to us NOT the covernment to "feed our children". Or if we are too poor to feed them, not to have them. We know the cause of that now and prevention is easy and provided FREE by charitable organization like Planned Parenthood.

CNN, as long as Lou Dobbs and Campbell Brown continue this crazy attempt to link Obama to that idiot IL gov, I will not spend one penny with any company which runs ads during Dobb's or Brown's shows.

I think that the Republican is hoping that they can try Obama & his team to Blagojevich. MSNBC Morning Joe (Scarborough) is the worst News information show on TV & Cable. This show looks for the worst in what ever Obama does so the can have racist Joe Scarborough & Pat Buchanan comes on in gave the most bias republican answer. I think Pat B. showed American just how racist he is all throughout the Presidential Election. This morning on Morning Joe they talked about how Obama is connected to the scandal for his Senate sit. If Joe S. or Pat B. has evidence that Obama is quilt please show it or shut up.

Uncle Sam...evidently you haven't listened or seen the MSNBC primetime shows lately....four hours of Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow is enough to gag even the most liberal members of society. Long after Obama has been sworn in they will still be blasting republicans. I bet they won't say anything negative about any dem.
Now that is partisan journalism at its best.

Tell me CNN, what does Blagojevich have to do with Obama naming his Energy Secretary? Newsworthy items must really be light.

My comment has been awaiting moderation for hours now – what's the matter CNN, don't like that I think you've become a sensationalistic news magazine with questionable reporting by the likes of Campbell Brown? Tough – your insisting on reporting gossip & drivel for the most part has earned you the title of Faux News!

Hey Sweetie, do you have any basis for this or are you just slandering? Maybe you can share a cell with the aforementioned. Oh right, you won't get in trouble because you sit on a computer anonymously while spewing lies and stuffing you fat face with donuts.

Guilty before a shred of evidence. Country first, right?
