White House press secretary sports black eye

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Perino joked reporters are no longer able to wear shoes to press conferences."]

(CNN) - Who knew being White House press secretary was such a dangerous job?

While President Bush emerged from the weekend's now-infamous shoe attack in Iraq without a scratch, press secretary Dana Perino appears to be a little worse for wear.

Perino was sitting to the side of the president when an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at him Sunday.  She was inadvertently hit by a microphone as the president's Secret Service agents responded and officials scrambled to wrestle the journalist to the ground.

The full effects of the accident were clear at Tuesday's White House daily briefing, where Perino sported a bruise below her right eye and scratch just above the eyebrow.

"The shoe check-in and check-out policy will begin tomorrow," Perino joked.

I am sorry for Ms. Perino's injury, but the fact that Bush and Perino both have made light of the incident, and both find it necessary to make jokes about it tells me that this administration is as arrogant as ever.

Mr. Bush and his Press Secretary should have attended the "Florsheim School of Self Defense" before traveling oversees.

Making light of this sends a message to the rest of the middle east that this administration still doesn't get it. They are just provoking more of the same behavior. These goofs need to realize that in this man's eyes this was a weapon. I wonder if he had thrown a knife or similar weapon, if they would be joking about it then.

This lady is an idiot who does not understand half of the stuff she lies about on a daily basis. I do not feel sorry for her. If I ever went to Iraq, I would make sure to stay as far from the man who is currently destroying that country, so as not to catch any stray bullets, bombs or shoes.

Oh please, she could EASILY have concealed that tiny bruise with just a smidgen of makeup. I guess she must feel that sporting a bruise she received in an attack on Bush is somehow heroic, when it just goes to show how much COWARDICE Bush shows – he lets his women get hurt before him!

What CNN has made of this story is disgusting! You send one of you reporters put on to the street and only show men, woman, and children who say they wish the shoe hit OUR President or that they were the ones to trhow it! You're all sick, you say nothing but bad things about President Bush. He has kept all of you safe for more than seven years now something Bill Clinton couldn't do because he was to busy under his desk! He has also liberated millions of people who were once under a dictator! How would you feel if two shoes were thrown at your dad, or one even cause your sister to have a black eye! I think an apology is needed by this network! Also where is the Change your canidate and now President elect Barrack Hussien Obama promised. Looks like we are back to the Clinto years to me. This means there wil be a terrorist attack the President does nothing about and will cause a finanical crisis that won't be seen until it can be blamed on a republican

Next time when some one decides to throw a stinky sock, secret service should take advantage of the confusion and kiss miss Perino on her lips to make it up to her.

It's the least they can do for this lovely lady.

That really sucks. I thought the Green Zone was secure. An Iraqi journalist thows both his shoes at Bush, and a secret service agent hits his press secretary with a mike.

What's next – someone shoots Dick Cheney with buckshot??? 🙂

  24. Human Being

As human beings, we are so rude, and uncivilized. It is imperfect and sinful human nature. Only time can tell if Rod Blagojevich, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, John Edwards and Jimmy Carter, are any angels, so pure, so honest and so holy (?) At least, we have seen any terrorism on our shore, since 9/11, 2001, immediately after Clinton left office, and Bush does not sell or lose his own soul for the glory or approval of this world, or people. He will go down the history as a saint.
