Obama team to release Blagojevich report by Tuesday

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="A report on Emanuel’s contact with Blagojevich will be released by Tuesday, say aides."](CNN) - The Obama transition team is planning to release a report by tomorrow detailing contact between his staff and embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, transition aides tell CNN.

The president-elect himself is not expected to comment publicly on the results of the internal investigation, which reportedly detail one conversation between President-elect Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and Blagojevich, and several others between Emanuel and the governor’s top aide.

The Illinois governor was arrested earlier this month on charges of attempting to sell Obama’s Senate seat.

Blagojevich complained during one conversation recorded by the FBI that Obama and his aides were unwilling to compensate him for naming a candidate of their choosing to the seat.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in Chicago has said that Obama was not a target of the investigation. Sources have also told CNN that Emanuel has not been implicated in the case.

The posts on here are stupid.

1.) Correct me if I'm mistaken but we believe in innocence until proven guilty. Therefore as far as we are concerned Blago is innocent (though I think he will lose in court)
2.) In regards, to Emmanuel the Obama haters are holding on to some sort of false hope. The U.S. Attorney already said there is no evidence that implicates Barack or his cabinet. Favors are called in all the time in politics, business, and life in general. That does not constitute any wrong doing, if a friend of yours helped you get a job with a company by putting in a good word is that illegal?NO now if they had agreed to compensate Blago that would be illegal but according the the initial reports that did not happen.

Get over it and let the man get in office, if he messes up in office condemn him but until then support your PE rather you like it or not. If you truly love the country you will support it's future leader.

P.S. Support does not mean you agree 100% it simply means you support him because he is your elected leader.

Geez, I wish CNN would just do away with these Ticker comments. Most people anymore just post garbage so they can see their drival in print.

Why are people (including CNN with their "shocking" photo) so ignorant? Rahm did not do anything improper. Why are these posters insisting he did? Absolutely unbelievable. CNN, you should be ashamed; you're trying to generate traffic to your site with an article that doesn't tell the whole truth. If more people come to your site and stir up lies, then you sell more advertising. But that's not journalism, is it? Everyone who thinks Rahm did something wrong: read the real news! He did not! He does not need to step aside!

Big bad Rahm, the sender of dead fish to those who disagree with him, Mr. Ballerina, looks pretty darned worried in the accompanying picture. Blugo may take everybody down with his sinking ship, so stay tuned. Let Obama govern, I hope he can escape unscathed by all this background gibberish.

@drummajor66, how exactly do you know that Emmanuel did nothing illegal? Oh, yeah, blind faith.

Anyone who is concluding EITHER WAY on this issue (that is, whether Obama or any of his team is involved in Blag's seat-selling enterprise) is nothing but a party hack. There are facts, people, and they are not out yet.

This is new? In politics the sin is not doing the deed, it's getting caught. Once that happends you are thrown out of the both sides of the aisle.

And in this little exchange clearly people on both sides are talking past each other, but that's what these blogs are all about anyway. We live in a culture of polarization, created by the wings of each party and cultivated by the media.

True dialogue and statesmanship are, alas, relics of the past. Obama promises to bring them back. What's that old line from the Who song...ah yes "we won't get fooled again!" We'll see.

    RE: appreciation

The word "appreciation" appears once in each PDF released from the Northern District of Illinois, and spoken by Blagojevich both times.

The 'quotes' from unnamed sources are rumor, and nothing more, until the tapes or transcripts of the exact conversations are released via the above named courts.

Nothing to see here. Keep moving. These aren't the droids you're looking for.

At first, I thought there was no way Obama could come from Chicago, make the same deals with the same sleazy deal makers in Chicago and somehow NOT be tainted by the cesspool that IS Chicago politics... and then I remembered he walked on water, so now my mind is at ease. Hey, look, there's Elvis!

This country and it's politicians sickens me. Worked all my life and paid taxes and tried to do the right thing and see how the greedy self serving crooks in washington hand over billions to the crooks on wall street. I hope in my lifetime i see the people of this country wake up and take the country back with whatever means necessary, and i will repeat WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY!

"This all a big nothing. Of course the Obama team talked with the governor. That's exactly what you would expect when the governor is the one with the authority to fill his senate seat. What Obama denied was any "improper contact" not "any contact, period." The evidence I have heard is that they rebuffed Blago's attempts to wheel and deal, and he didn't like it. All above board, all correct."

    (written by Pete Turner)

I didn't vote for Obama; I'm worried about some of the things he has done already, and some of his potential policy changes scare the cr*p out of me. But I agree with Pete!! I'd like very much to believe that that is ALL this situation is: the departing senator's staff had necessary contact with the governor over appointing a replacement. It seems to be it would be much odder if he didn't, and I'm not ready to jump on an anti-Obama bandwagon over this.

    Connect the Dots, People.

Blago=Illinois, Obama=Illinois, Lincoln=Illinois, Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable=Illinois, I am from Illinois, Chicago as a matter of fact.

I admit it, we are all part of a giant conspiracy. Jean Baptiste and I, along with Abraham, conspired against Blago, introducing Vodka into his drinking water, making him act so stupidly. Obama just snickered while we did this, but he is complicit, nevertheless.

I admit it. Come get me.

Exactly, The gov should step down even for suggesting it. So what he didn't actually committ the act, the threat of doing it is even worse.

This gov is a bad seed and it should be uprooted and tossed in the trash.

Without knowing and verifying all the hard facts, how can one tell the difference between truth and lies? Presumably, the governor of Illinois was caught swearing and making damaging statements on tape. Other than that, the rest is hearsay. Only a proverbial fly on the wall would be able to know firsthand if there was mischief afoot when these other 'conversations' were going on. It will be interesting to read the actual reports and to see how it all plays out.

One scenario is that Emmanuel tried to maneuver Obama favorite Jarrett to get the senatorial nod and Gov. Blockhead wanted something in return. Nothing was forthcoming from the Obama side, so negotiations went nowhere. That is why Jarrett took herself out of the running so early in the process. Just my hypothesis.
