Obama team to release Blagojevich report by Tuesday

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="A report on Emanuel’s contact with Blagojevich will be released by Tuesday, say aides."](CNN) - The Obama transition team is planning to release a report by tomorrow detailing contact between his staff and embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, transition aides tell CNN.

The president-elect himself is not expected to comment publicly on the results of the internal investigation, which reportedly detail one conversation between President-elect Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and Blagojevich, and several others between Emanuel and the governor’s top aide.

The Illinois governor was arrested earlier this month on charges of attempting to sell Obama’s Senate seat.

Blagojevich complained during one conversation recorded by the FBI that Obama and his aides were unwilling to compensate him for naming a candidate of their choosing to the seat.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in Chicago has said that Obama was not a target of the investigation. Sources have also told CNN that Emanuel has not been implicated in the case.

To tell you the truth, I would have expected Obama or one of his people to talk to Gov. Blagojevich. After all, it was Obama's senate seat that we are taliking about here.

But to have Obama DENY it right off of the bat, and then to have Obama LIE about it and try to COVER IT UP for an extended period, I think that just goes to show you what we are in for these next 4 years.

Obama should not have acted like a kid getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Unfortunately, Bush was not exactly a fiscal conservative as he spent a lot of our taxpayer money. However, I do not think he is responsible for the banking collapse. Look at the history of the 90's. Hopefully, Obama continues steer toward the center now that he has won the office and decides not to weaken the strong in order to strengthen the weak. Now throw the govenor in jail and let's move on.

A few of the comments here have no idea that there was an icy cold relationship between Obama and Blago. Blago was shut out of most of the campaign. His corruption was well known going back years, as was the investigation(s), and Obama wanted nothing to do with him. As much as Limbaugh, Hannity and a few right wing commenters would like, there is no smoking gun.

Hang in there Obama. You are the only hope of the people in this country. Don't let the Repugs drag you down to their level. The only reason they do this is they have toooooooooooooooo much to answer for. And they are not even smart enough to tell Dubyah to stifle himself in his last days.

Gee, I wonder if he wants to do another Victory Lap of the Middle East again. This time they might throw dirty underwear!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People say we should have more respect for the office of the Prez. I say he is the one that turned it into a foul Dictatorship.

Everyone knew Gov B was being listened to on his phones and thus Rahm Emmuael and Obama would of been careful to make sure they did not use phones that would catch them in a "deal". Come on, Jarrett was Richard Daley's "Chief of Staff" – we know wherein alot of this comes from.
Reason report of Obama's being released as close to Xmas is to avoid att'n to the report that we call here in MN "Fox watching the Henhouse Report". His first comment was "we had NO CONTACT with Gov B". Don't insult my intellligence.
This pay for play is normal for Chicago and other areas as well.

TRUE AMERICANS, we need to take back America soon or we are in big trouble (not as if we aren't in big enough trouble at this time).

The 700 Billion should of been used to setup new Financial Institutions and the crooks should of been allowed to go under – and most to jail hopefully.

If, as it appears, Emmanuel is not guilty of a sin of comission, he may very well be guilty of a sin of omission. If he knew Blago was in the business of collecting bribes in exchange for appointments, then he absolutely should have turned him in. Maybe Emmanuel didn't know the full corruption of the Illinois governor, but it seems just as likely that he did. Whether he played ball or not is beside the point. I want to know if people in the know did anything to stop the idiot with the bad hair.

There will be folks that will try and cast a dark cloud over the Obama Administration, however if you think the Obama has come this far by being careless, think again. If anything I believe we will see the uprooting of a corrupts political system once he gets in and sics his dogs on the corrupt. Replublicans you might want to chill because the dirt doesnt fall to far from the ground.....

Travis, are a fool to think the guy you elected president, who apparently knows all and can never do anything wrong, somehow didn't know anything about Blago, the Governor of his own state??? Like really, I know you are not that ignorant. Now, does anyone really care...that's the real question and I highly doubt anyone does. They didn't care about Rev Wright, they didn't care about Acorn, they didn't care about the LA Times video that Barry Hussein was seen toasting a freaking PLA will they care about ANOTHER shady Chicago politician..doubtful

Should be a very short report.

Barack's first comment on the situation was "My team has not been in contact with the governor's office."

    Or....was that a little fib?

Let the FBI take care of Blagojevich and let Obama get down to leading us into fixing these last TERRIBLE eight years of the "good ole boy" system. Bush, Cheney have done enough damage to the country by pandering to their big oil buddies and their Wall Street cronies. We're involved in a war that NEVER should have happened. Why haven't we thoroughly investigated that.

They're releasing records of the conversation, so it's probably not terribly exciting. It'll be interesting to see what they were.

Just to remind you scandal-hungry people out there, Blagojevich was caught on tape screaming and swearing about how the Obama people wouldn't get involved with him in a significant way. So, unfortunately for you, they're probably not involved with him in a significant way.

My guess is that we won't hear shocked disbelief by Obama staff when the governor or staff ask for stuff. The actual converstions if taped will not make the Obama staff to look like choir boys if my suspicions are correct. Afterall, this is Illinois politics and this is the way they talk.

There is trouble in Obama Nation...Rezko and Blago need to make a deal...and the Big O is the biggest fish in the pond!

So much for the change, citizens of the world (by the way, the Big O does not want the UAW to have to compete with the COW...that would be mean the UAW would have to be efficient and effective and build a decent car), and the spread the wealth BS!

People are used to being lied to. The past 8 years have been nothing but lies!
We have an honest man about to take the oath and the repugs still want to find "Something on him"- Give it up. You lost by a very large margin and the CHANGE we need will happen. Blago is getting way too much air time. We all know there are dishonest people on both sides of the aisle- but blaming President elect Obama is just stupid.

So if Rahm "has not been implicated in the case" according to CNN's sources, why does CNN have his picture looking worried as the article's image? Why don't they just put a picture of Obama?

This is an example of slanted journalism trying to influence peoples' judgment of the issue. I thought that was O'really's and Hannity's job...?

This is how I see it happened...the crooked Gov. Blagojevich wanted to be compensated for naming someone that's acceptable to the President-Elect Obama's upcoming administration, but the President-Elect's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, refused because it was unlawful and unethical to do. But the crooked Gov. still insisted that he be compensated; therefore, Mr Emanuel had no choice but to report the corruption to the law enforcement...
