Bush announces new appointments for 24 aides and supporters

Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to appoint 24 individuals to serve in his Administration.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, for terms of four years:
–Carol Ann Bartz, of California;
–Maria Cino, of Virginia;
–Israel Hernandez, of Texas.
The President intends to appoint Jennifer E. Sims, of Virginia, to be a Member of the Public Interest Declassification Board for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 10/03/11.
The President intends to appoint Mark Sanford, of South Carolina, (Governor), to be a Member of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, for the remainder of a four-year term expiring 06/10/09.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee:
–Kevin R. Johnson, of Washington;
–Kay Sears, of Virginia.
The President intends to appoint John M. Hart, of Maryland, to be a Member of the National Capital Planning Commission, for a six-year term beginning 01/02/09.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Commissioners of the United States Section of the United States-Russia Polar Bear Commission, for an initial term of four years:
–Geoffrey L. Haskett, of Alaska, (Federal Representative);
–Charles J. Johnson, of Alaska, (Alaska Representative).
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, for six-year terms expiring 10/23/14:
–Sander R. Gerber, of New York, to be Vice Chair;
–Charles E. Cobb, of Florida, (Public);
–Carlos M. Gutierrez, of Michigan;
–Barry Jackson, of Ohio.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the Federal Service Impasses Panel, for five-year terms expiring 01/10/14:
–Barbara Bruin, of New Mexico;
–Mark A. Carter, of West Virginia;
–Grace Flores Hughes, of Virginia.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts:
–Nancy Goodman Brinker, of Florida, for the remainder of a six-year term expiring 09/01/14;
–Condoleezza Rice, of California, for the remainder of a six-year term expiring 09/01/14;
–Leonard Sands, of California, for the remainder of a six-year term expiring 09/01/13.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board:
–Jean Loretta Becker, of Texas, for a three-year term expiring 09/22/11;
–Gary R. Edson, of Illinois, for a three-year term 09/22/11;
–Anita B. McBride, of Connecticut, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 09/22/11;
–James L. Oblinger, of North Carolina, for a three-year term expiring 09/22/11.

It is so sad to see these hate mongers mourning the end of division as they see it. Wake up, it is the new dawn and America has decided to seek unity and do what's right by its people. Support unity or be left behind with your retched hearts. History will not forgive you and your likes.

We do not have to be like minded thinkers, we should however take the good with the bad and learn from the mistakes that have been made. OMG everyone relax! If you have seen presidents come and go in your lifetime, you know that when running for office you have to lie and "couch" your statements. Once in office, you have to consider many things you were not, and could not, be aware of before you got the clearance to know. All presidents start over new when taking office. I hope Obama will do the right thing, even if he gets resistance from his party, the other party, and his "pie in the sky" supporters. Rice is the smarter one she gets a cool appointmnt selection BECAUSE the new president can't get rid of the kennedy center BUT all those other entities can be eliminated through budget and executive directives SURE g.w. can appoint ALL HE WANTS but trust me when I say the NEXT president can and will eliminate ALL of or at least MOST of the these appointees INDEED.

I'm really impressed that people get this serious bout who their president is. No matter what election it is, the vote of Joe Blow means very little. 'W' proved that. It wasn't even a contest between McCaine and Palin and Obama and Biden. My guess is there are people out there in the public who are livid over the results just like there are people who are ecstatic.
But consider this, no matter who the president of the US is, we (mankind as a whole) are still ruining the earth, running out of potable water, ruining the atmosphere, ruining the oceans, devastating the rain forests, killing each other in senseless wars, did you know that a child dies in this world every two seconds due to poverty related causes? The aborted ones aren't included in that figure. The economy world wide is collapsing, and our government is trying to spend its way out of a very serious recession that is quickly turning into a very serious depression. These are scary times. But don't pin your hopes on a man. Not a president. Not a group of politicians. None of these will protect you. They can't. A group of people have to be in agreement to do the most good for all. And they have to be objective enough to set aside their personal preferences for the good of all. All of them, not just a majority, but everyone must be able to do that, or you have contentions. Contentions are couterproductive.

From Bush Supporter: Domestically, he governed over the greatest economy globally. Home ownership and creation of new jobs sky rocketed. Prices remained stable, i.e. I filled up my gas tank yesterday for $1.42/ gallon. Experienced as a leader some of greatest man made, and natural disasters to include 911, numerous CA wildfires, drought, Katrina, and post the hurricane, headed some of the largest efforts in history to restore not just a city, but the entire gulf coast.

I counted and it's only about 14% of the bloggers that are hating on Obama, most are hopeful. They're going to close comments soon, but it's a greatly decreasing numbers of haters daily on all forums, now it seems like just the true nutballs are left. I am not a supporter of W. Bush's Iraq and Katrina responses. After spending 8 weeks doing Katrina Gulf Coast recovery effort, and seeing unprecedented "natural" disasters zap the strength of our relief & recovery responders, I am looking for a "silver lining" somewhere. Look at the magnitude of disaster responses still in progress on . We need our National Guard home to help, and you can help via the many orgs available.
The absence of another 9/11 on W's Watch could be to the credit of his directives. We don't know how many terrorists have been stopped by our domestic counter-terrorism forces.

I don't think it will take centuries to undo G.W. Bushs' damage, maybe 1-2, as the damage is indeed severe. The world knows what a fiasco this Bush reign has been. I find it hard to believe that Bush didn't lose the first, but especially the second election in a landslide. The fact is that (thanks to Rove) Bush did lose both elections. We all know about Florida in 2000, few talk about the theft of Ohio in 2004. WHY???
Bush is certainly not the first president, Democrat or Republican, to make appointments like this during his final days in office, nor will he be the last until this sort of thing is made illegal. How about a national movement to make all presidential appointments illegal after the November elections unless they are necessary due to national emergency. It's time for the People to express their outrage and make our politicians clean up their acts!
