Obama could inherit Gaza crisis

(CNN) - As the violence rages in Gaza, President Bush is putting the blame squarely on Hamas, while President-elect Barack Obama is keeping a low profile and sticking by his belief that "there is only one president at a time."

But with less than a month until the inauguration, the president-elect could inherit an international crisis - one he will not be able to defer to Bush.

Israeli airstrikes pummeled Gaza for a third day Monday as part of what Israel's defense minister called "an all-out war" with Hamas. Israel says the attacks are a response to escalating rocket attacks against southern Israel.

Israel has tanks on the border and has approved the call-up of 2,000 reservists, but there was no indication of a Israeli ground incursion Monday. However, Israeli politicians say that all options are on the table.

Who is paying for the Israeli incursion of Gaza?? Why its you, you stupid taxpaying Americans. Israel is smart to do it now why Bush is still President. You Americans are paying for Iraq, Afghanistan and now Gaza. LOL, while all your 401K's are becoming 201K's. You never learn. I hope Obama raises your taxes "big time" so you can send more $$ overseas.

The legacies of Bush and his SOS? You are kidding me, right? It makes me wonder if some of you know anything of Middle Eastern history? Do you know how long this has been going on for? Crack open a history book or two before you say something else stupid.

And for those defending Hamas... they don't like you either and would fire a rocket right into your living room if they thought it would make a headline. They use innocent people as shields. They set up in schools and hospitals in hopes that they can operate safely from there. Hamas is the reason that innocent people are dieing in Gaza. If you are defending the rights of a terrorist organization you should have your head examined.

Oh and Jeff Spangler, Arlington, VA.... fighting until the end is a far cry from wiping a country off the map.

People saying that Isreal has a right to "defend themselves against terrorists". The fact is the Palestinians were there first and lost the land to "terrorists". The difference between an Isreali and a terrorist? The Isreali won! Don't get me wrong people, I am not an anti-semite (or anti-any other ethnic group). Our "Founding Fathers" would be labeled terrorists in today's world if they had lost. They are only "patriots" because they won.

Well, the absolute truth is this: if Obama attempts to bring change only between the pacific and atlantic oceans, then he must not call himself the leader of the world. However, for his legacy of change to come true, he must bring change to the world. And that includes a new, un-adulterated, fair, foreign policy, especially toward the Palestinians and Israelis. The truth is, Israel has been usurping and misleading the world, and it is the Palestinians who are the victims of oppression and occupation. This needs to end, and Palestinians must get their own peaceful state and rights in order for the Israelis to live in peace and security. If Obama does not have the courage to push for that, then he should just pack up and stop pretending to be a new kind of leader. Enough of the american hypocrisies.

Ridiculous. First off, Hamas is a terrorist organization. But every one of you who believe in this "lets spread democracy" Bush crap have no leg to stand on. This is the result of Hamas being voted in by the people. So we can have no gripe. They have been legitimized. Same will happen with Iraq, and again we will be able to say nothing. We seem to create most of our "problems" (i.e. Saddam, Osama, etc.) then we have to deal with them. Having said that, Israel is no prize either. First, dont complain that you are 6 million surrounded by 300 million when you chose to (forcibly) move into the neighborhood. I wouldnt move into a black neighborhood and demand everyone listen to country music. Israel does many things that arent reported also. Our media is 98% Jewish-run even though they make up 1% of our population. The point is, THEY ARE BOTH WRONG. This is what you get when religion runs your policy, on both sides. If a nuke "accidentally" fell on both of them, I wouldnt lose a bit of sleep.
