Obama family to move to DC this weekend, say aides

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="The Obamas are moving early in part so daughters Malia and Sasha, above, can start school on time."](CNN) - The Obama family is planning to move to Washington this weekend, say two transition officials. “They will stay at a Washington hotel through the 15th and then they will move into the Blair House,” said the first official.

President-elect Barack Obama and wife Michelle are coming to DC early in part to be there for the beginning of school for daughters Malia and Sasha, but will not specify which day that will be.

The officials also note that the President-elect will be in Washington to “continue work on an economic recovery plan.” Democratic officials have previously said they’re expecting the Obama team to get the economic recovery plan to the Hill the first week of January.

To all of you Obama haters with your negative and hateful comments.

Why don'y you all put that energy into starting the indictments for Bush and Cheney!!! You expect us smart people to vote for the same after what Republicans have done for the last 12 years? I DON'T THINK SO! The Obamas are smart, articulate, and a beautiful family. The people made their choice. So God Bless this family and I pray everyday that HE is with them on cleaning up the mess of 12 years of Rebulican rule.

Dont' get too excited. Republicans are sharpening their knives and waiting at the airport and hotel ready to stab every policy (help) he wants to give them.

No policy Obama raises will be enough or right enough for the right, unless Rove/Rush/Hannity blesses it. Either the man is too cool or not forceful enough in his responses. Let the man be who he is. His personality should not be dictated by the raging lunatics who shout their guests down on their shows.

    No Drama/Obama 08!

May the winds always be at Obama's back, the sun on his face, his supporters in heart and those who oppose him with open ears and minds willing to learn.

    On to a better America.

As a taxpayer, I'd like to know who is using the Blair House currently, when it should be used for 'the President the American people REALLY DID VOTE FOR'! God Bless the Obamas and Bidens!

It's just another slap by this 'do-nothing' president – don't let the door hit you on the a– on your way out – counting the days until you are gone.

Incredible that common folk outrank a President-elect when it comes to Blair House. There should be a law against that. Let the Bush friends/relatives stay in hotels and put the Obama Family in Blair House as they should be. I hate to think how they will be treated on the day of the swearing–in. Although with that being mostly open to public view, I think it may be handled more gracefully.

It will be so nice to see a young, attractive and dynamic family in the White House. The President-Elect has his work cut out for him. Let's all keep this fine family in our prayers and thoughts. And may God bless and keep the Obama family,.

They are wonderful role models as parents–helping their kids to adjust, being there for them, and making sure they start right at the beginning of the school term.

Congrats to Barack and family for (almost) moving in! Great news!

But, when Don Imus made his disgusting racist comments, Obama wrote a beautiful letter to NBC telling them that if he had someone working for him who said anything that racist or sexist as Imus uttered his hate toward the AA Rutgers girls, Obama would fire him immediately! Which was great. But tell us why, Mr. Obama, you still have in your employ, and have promoted, rather than kick him in the posterio, that sexist, misgynist Pun Director of Speechwriters, the 27-year-old inebriated sexist Mr. Jon Favreau!? Why are you not firing him? Instead, you promoted him to Director! What kind of message are you giving, Prez-elect, to your little girls who will grow up. Would you want one of your tgirls, or wife, to be the subject of crude, cruel cardboard groping ? Please answer the women who voted for you!

Good for the Obama's to get settled so their daughter's can start school. Those girls deserve a normal transition and a normal life while they reside in the White House. I hope people leave them alone so they can have the normal life they deserve.

Mary just stop, he is receiving the customary use of the Blair house. Quit being bitter because they are not receiving special treatment.

My heart is just filled with so much JOY that this day has finally come...Barack Obama and his family on their way to their new home at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!! Never would I have thought in my lifetime that I would see this history making moment!!! May God forever bless President-Elect Barack H. Obama and Family as they transition into the role of President of the United States of America, and The First Family. May He keep His arms of protection around them and give them peace.

The Blair House is used to house DIPLOMATS when they are in the country. You want to know who is there, drive by and see what Country's flag is flying.

And yes, we should respect the Obama girl's privacy. Now if all of you Dems would please refrain from posting hateful things on Bristol Palin's story regarding the birth of her baby, we could actually make some progress.

President Obama, I know tha you and yours will have a successful move. With God's protection given to you in Ps. 91, your family and administration will be fine. We will continue to pray.
    To: Bradley Jenkins & Jon

You, like Rev. Wright, have not grown with society. Your mindsets are stuck in the past. It is now the 21st Century. With the economy the way it is, be happy to be a member of a neighborhood, and not homeless. Recessions tend to dismiss stereotypes. Poverty has no color. Be grateful for what you have.

My heart smiles when I look at this picture and the knowledge that this fine man is going to be leading our country.

I hear some sour grapes about Hillary. If Hillary is so great, how was President elect Obama able to out maneuver her and run a near perfect campaign? And he did this without all the IOU's and big money that Hillary & Bill had to call on. President elect does not need Hillary - in fact, it is the one appointment so far that I do have concerns about, but I trust it was a very considered and calculated move – the kind of move he exemplified in his campaign.

Blair house is small stuff for small minds. I can understand why George would feel uncomfortable having Obama next door during the close out of George's administration, though it would have been extremely gracious of him to extend the courtesy. Obama won't dwell on it – not his nature. So we shouldn't either.

Blessings to the Obamas and to the US. Hoping for much brighter days ahead.

Proud American, you idiot, if you want that clown to start 3 weeks early, you pay him. Of course, you'll be busy working to cover all his entitlement programs, unless you're one of those "Proud Americans," slurping up the freebies! You continually call conservatives idiots on your posts...yet, you're the one who supports the most inexperienced, most radical, incompetent numbskull to enter politics....would you allow a mechanic with no experience to work on your car? A surgeon with no experience to cut you? So, who's the real idiot here? McCAin wasn't a shining star, but there's no room for OJT on this job....what a clown.

Proud American has trouble distinguishing between y-o-u-r and y-o-u-'-r-e. He obviously has failed to learn the difference between words that sound alike but are spelled differently and have different meanings. He needs to work on this oversight.

About the house, I think we should move Bush out of the White House now, he is just a lame duck president. And the Obama Family ought to be moving in the White House now. But I guess we have to wait our turn, DOG GONE!!

You have to either be bald or have stick-straight hair.

For the curious on Black hair or hair of Bi-racial people: It can range from the very dry, course kinky, to wavy and oily, straight oily or straight dry.

In the summer or warmer climates, their particular course hair frizzes, ok? They are toooo young for chemical relaxers. Their mom does not have to go around frying their hair with hot combs and flat irons to make them more integrated into what society thinks is beautiful.

Let the girls play in the sun, water and if their hair frizzes or naps up, so be it. ITS CALLED VACATION until their dad becomes busy with his other children the Dems and Repubs.

    To "Independent Female Voter":

Obama haters with negative and vengeful comments? I see a lot more negative and vengeful comments towards our current President. Frankly, I don't care what any of you think of George W. Bush. Most people don't like him. But he is the President of the United States of America. I repeat, he is the President of the United States of America. That title deserves and commands respect. Now, I did not vote for Barack Obama, but I will respect him as the President of the United States. I'd just like to see a little reciprocation.
