Leading Democrat: Bush 'the worst president we've ever had'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – As the nation prepares for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, a leading Democrat is not letting up in his criticism of President George W. Bush.

“I really do believe President Bush is the worst president we’ve ever had,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Reid pointed to Bush’s failed plan to privatize the Social Security program and also said Bush “has done his very best to destroy Medicare” in order support his assessment of Bush’s presidency.

Asked by David Gregory if he had any regrets about his persistent criticism of Bush, Reid responded, “I am who I am.”

“I think you just have to call things the way you see them.”

Give 'em hell, Harry! I'm 49 y/o and these past 8 years have been the most abjectly miserable of my life; corresponding with the ascent of the only court-appointed president in the history of the democracy, who stole the election again 4 years later. Bush-Cheney-Rove's incompetence is only exceeded by their evil natures. Space limitations prevent describing the infinite ways their incompetence has been destructive to America.

The Iraqi war isn't about oil, folks, it's about lining Haliburton's pockets. Why has Bin Laden not been apprehended? His execution of the Iraqi war has been disastrous, to say nothing about his lying to Congress and the American people to justify invading a sovereign nation. By the way, the shrub's own commission determined Saddam was not involved in 9/11.

The shrub is an abject failure, i.e. the absolute worst excuse for a 'leader' the democracy has ever known. I can't even express the joy/relief knowing that little incompetent yahoo cowboy is going back to Texas. Good Riddance!

Reid has a BGO moment (Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious). Only possible competition to Bush for Worst President Ever are James Buchanan and U.S. Grant, but both did less harm internationally.

    Hands down ... The Worst

Though in reality he never truly won the election in the first place

Something that started as a lie, could only end in tragedy

Can't wait until the BUM goes home to Crawford

May George W. suffer forever for all the pain that he has caused so many in this country and around the world

I have to admire a man who speaks the truth.

For all of you W lovers out there, all 19% of the population, the TRUTH hurts doesn't it? I believe not only is W the worst ever but also that he is war criminal for authorizing torture of prisoners, he is a traitor who allowed an undercover CIA agent to be outed for political gain. Those two things alone should be enough to send him to jail. One can always hope!

I defiantly do not think that he did everything in his power to turn our country around. It was his choices in the first place that got us in the position that we are today. Thank god its over. .

Harry Reid, the same person who declared defeat in Iraq? The same Senator who refused to allow his constituents into his local officebecausethey disagreed with him?

He's a moron. If he said it, the odds are better than even that he's wrong.

Sorry, Bush does not stand for Christianity. Next to Mother Theresa, he's only 10% Christian and 90% politician. His legacy, in grand schemes of the future, is to make America WEAK and let EU take the future. There is absolutely no mentioning of a STRONG modernized country like America, heading into Armageddon. As for Obama, he is a glimpse of what the Anti Christ will be like. Obama exists, I'm sure, to clean things up and prepare the way for the Anti Christ. I cant hate Bush. He's preparing the way for Armageddon and it takes a MAN like him to do it.

I'm ambivalent about Reid, but to the poster who said Reid was a wimp compared to Bush being "a real man," bear in mind that Reid is the son of a miner, was a boxer and a worked nights as a US Capitol police officer to put himself through law school.

Bush was a cheerleader at Yale.

Some of you repubs are amazing. You voting for that male Palin and you have seen with your own eyes what he has done to this wonderful country and yet you defend him. If you witnessed your own children screwing things up royaly, would you really say " I'm proud of you". 4 years ago newspapers in England wrote that they did know that so many of us were so stupid. Well memo to England, the majarity of us are not stupid. Most of us see Bush for what he is.Dangerous

I guess it's just as easy to say that Harry Reid is the worst senator we've ever had. I just call it like I see it 🙂 Really though, can anyone really say "worst" unless they have 1st hand knowledge of all the previous presidents?
