Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/09/art.palin1.gi.jpg caption=" Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

Unfortunately, Ms. Palin's life has become little more than a soap opera and tabloid fodder......which news organizations and readers in general can't take their eyes off of.

Perhaps her best course of action for the next couple of years is to just lay low and be governor of Alaska........stop hanging herself out to dry for everyone to see.

And while she's laying low, she can catch up on her reading.

The media needs to leave Sarah Palin alone in regards to family. Attack her policies, attack her stances, attack her words but let's leave the family out of it. This is just ugly 'journalism'.

"I just hope she doesn't end up in a mental institution. She is really not stable. Maybe she should see a shrink to get herself together and clear her conscience…"

I will be in therapy for the next 4 years Obama mama.

Isn't it interesting that the liberal media and liberals in general can't take any criticism while they demand their right to criticize everyone!!

The George Soros paid for, union supported media really did a job on this woman, and of course the lemmings on the socialist left followed. The things that they have done to this woman and her family and infant son are so contemptable. The lefties are just plain mean spirited especially here. The story about the grandson being born, got over 350 negative, mean contemptible responses here, degrading a new born child. Is that the change Obama was talking about? Must have been since all these sociopaths voted for him. Kinda says a lot about him and them.

It would be easy enough for her to prove that Trig is hers. Just produce the medical records. She has refused to do that. Even the hospital website has no record of Trig being born on his supposed date of birth. Why can't she disprove these things?

Sarah's 15 minutes ran out a long long time ago. Enought already!! Its time to turn out the lights and turn off the microphone on this person who never should have been given the 15 minutes in the first place.

This woman's ego is so huge, that she would say and do anything to stay in the limelight. If she needs to blast anyone else besides Tina Fey, Katie Couric, and the media, in order to keep her name in the news, you better believe she will do so. She's starting to sound like a whiner.

With Jeb Bush in the running for 2012, Sarah has no chance, so she had better shut up and try to bail her unwed mommy daughter's boyfriend's mother out of jail.

Hey Obama Mama – you and the Obamiacs are the ones who need to seek help. The so called journalists have displayed their true colors very clearly during the last campaign. They have shown what they really are – lap dogs for the corrupt Democratic party. No one with any sense listens to a word they say.

Please! Keep this women out of our sight!!! She has NO education and has NO understanding of life in the lower 48 and has NO idea of what goes on in the rest of the world!!!! AND DO NOT compare her to Caroline Kennedy!!! Caroline is highly educated and cares deeply about the welfare of the American people–its in her blood! But Palin is out for Palin and Palin only even above the welfare of her own children!

She certainly is lashing out - seems to live and die by the blame game. The comments about Couric and media are just hilarious – as though the media is responsible for re-phrasing Palin comments until they make sense. Now THAT would be a tough job. The media coverage is one reason why most moms with 5 youngish children wisely refrain from seeking public office, at least until their kids get a little older. My understanding is this parenting allegation is just private blog rumor-mongering coming from Wasilla/Anchorage and the media never picked it up till Palin put it out there...who knows, who cares.

I am so glad she is speaking out. The media elite, CNN , MSNBC in particular (paid for by Obama) did one hell of a job on her and Joe the Plumber, and still continue to , to this day. But that's the way dirty politics of the Clintons go.

    Dan Quayle attacked Murphy Brown.

Palin lashes out at Tina Fey AND Katie Couric.

Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Some do it a little more destructively than others. Enter Sarah Palin.

My God..will she ever go away??The only thing the Media is doing wrong is keeping her in front of everyone. She can't take straight questions..could you imagine this looser being vp or president? And comparing her to Kennedy..a real qualified person.

I don't know what is funnier or more sad; the commentary by those that call Sarah Palin stupid or the simple fact that those commentators themselves that have no grasp of the English language or even know how to spell.

    Tsk, tsk.
