Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

She's a megalomaniac. An egomaniacial freak. Sarah, no one really cares about you. This is the second article in two days about things that MOST Americans could care less about.

I think I am more worried about how to pay my bills than your un interesting personal life.

And CNN, for the love of God.... I have tremendous respect for you guys but just STOP REPORTING ON PALIN.

There are more important things that you guys need to be concentrating on.

Now that I know that Palin is no threat to our country, at least in the near future, I can't get enough of her.

Notice, it's almost 100% men who defend SP. What is that all about? I'll tell you what it's all about – T&A, that's it, end of story. Men, wise up, grow-up, keep it in your pants. SP is not worthy!

At least she managed to state her case in complete sentences this time. I guess she's more comfortable when it comes to whining about media coverage than she is about discussing policy, the Bush Doctrine, newspapers she reads, the role of the Vice President in relation to the Senate, Africa, NAFTA, or just about anything else that involves the application of rudimentary form of intelligence and/or learning.

She did have one amazing accomplishment- she made Dan Quayle and George W. Bush look like Rhodes scholars. That's something.

Next stop on the Palin post-election tour? Another $180,00 shopping and makeup spree so she can look good while preaching her populist "woman of the people" message.

    What a joke.

Isn't it interesting that the liberal media and liberals in general can't take any criticism while they demand their right to criticize anyone and everyone about anything they want!!

Salacious- of or appealing to one's sexual desires.

Umm... I know the media has a reputation for being sensational... but I don't think any of the recent reports about Palin have been particularly appealing to my sexual desires. Apparently collegiate vocabulary was never covered at any of her forty-three community colleges.

If you all really have problems with Sarah Palin, then why comment on the article and bother reading it? You can skip over news that you find irrelevent, correct? Please stop complaining, she did not get elected, just get over yourselves. Do you have nothing better to do with your time than get all worked up over someone you dislike and disagree with? No wonder our country is so unproductive.

What goes around comes right back around to you. She dogged Obama out in the media every chance she got. And I still believe Baby Trigg belong to Bristol. Trig and Tripp are 8 months apart and it is possible for siblings to be 8 9 10 or even 11 months apart!! It is a little suspicious that Bristol missed several months out of school right before baby Trigg was born in April of last year. You can have a baby and go back for your 6 weeks checkup and be pregnant again. Also, everytime Bristol held baby Trigg she held him maternally!! Only a mother holds her baby maternally. Sarah would always hold the baby Trigg other kind of ways accept maternally!!

You are like Britney Spears a year or two ago... can't do anything without the media all over it. Stay off camera and keep to yourself, Palin! Thats how Spears took care of things.

Palin seemed to really enjoy herself on SNL, but now whines about it.

From the liberal point of view, Sarah Palin is a gift that just keeps on giving. Keep it up Sarah; your whining is turning off more people and the media every day. But she is not smart enough to know that.

Liberals...and your media...I agree with you and the fact that McCain/Palin lost. So, now that the election is over and most of us rational conservatives understand that, why don't you stop raping Palin? You want her to disappear, then quit bringing her up...posting news...making comments. She ran for an office and lost, now why don't YOU get over it. You better keep your focus on defending your Messiah. I have a very good feeling he's going to need it. By the way, what ever happened to Obama's spiritual leader (Wright)?
