Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

I hope this woman runs again in 2012 as the Republican nominee for President.

In 4 years, the rest of the world's memory may have to be refreshed as to why it abhors Conservative Americans – and justifiably deservedly so.

Sarah Palin as the face of conservatism will thankfully and thoroughly replenish that global disgust of Republican Americans.

Frankly, I, among many others, don't care whose baby it is....

Mrs. Palin while I am with you on the bloggers and some media attacking you family. Your interviews were very poor, and I dont believe that the McCain camp did anything to help you there. You also made attacks against Obama that were very misleading. My question is how can you point the finger at the media when you, yourself salacious remarks about Obama. You have the same ability to unite people, however your belief system is very flawed America is not far right in there values. You need to accept different races, religions, and sexuality. That where you missed it. McCain and his staff used you to try and get elected, I think you were the scapegoat they needed. American is ready for a female as president but it is clearly not you. Sorry that just the way it is.

We have seen her interviews with the media, uncut and they speak for themselves. I mean, having an interview while behind you an animal is being slaughtered?

Palin is in severe denial over her own actions and words.

I never heard the story of her administration delaying the serving of the arrest warrent on Johnston. It makes since though. I was trying to figure out what took them so long to make an arrest, since they reported that the investigation had been going on for some time. I thought it was just a coincidence. Now I know better.

I hope Sara Palin watched Morning Joe for some advise. All that was on the Morning Joe show this morning advised her to move on and lighten up. The more Sara Palin talk about Trig being her son the more people will believe he is not. People will believe she is trying to hard to convince everybody Trig is her son. If he is really her son, they way keep talking about it. John McCain needs to be punished for introducting her to the American People becasue she just won't go away and take a lost like a big girl.

Gov. Palin, the media is real sorry for finding out you are a Idiot. Do you love the media and like reading about yourself in the paper. No one can figure why you continue to give interviews, when no one wants to hear anything you have to say.

OMG! Can someone please explain to me how the media could take what she said "out of context?" She could not hardly form a complete sentence unless it was written for her! Oh, and quess what? So far Carolyn Kennedy can speak and answer questions on her own. But if she can't...you betcha, I will be commenting on that.
