Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/09/art.palin1.gi.jpg caption=" Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

Does she even know the definition of "salacious"?? I admit I didn't know it, so I looked it up and the definition is "characterized by lust" or "Promoting sexual desire or lust; Lascivious or bawdy; Obscene or lewd".. So exactly what "salacious" reporting about Palin have I been missing??? I wish that just once someone would ask her the definition of some of the words she uses....

Regarding a comment made by "Shaggy"..it is good to see someone represents the Idiots of America. Clearly, this type of stupidity goes beyond reason and this person belongs with Palin, in the Idiot Hall of Shame.

"You people are pathetic, you all complain about how you don't want to see anymore about her but here you are complaining on the wall that your tired of it. YOU ARE ALL STUPID." This trailer park trash woman just can't stand not to be in the spotlight. Consequently, she keeps dragging up the past.
I'm so relieved she didn't win the Vice Presidency, I truly believe she
is unbalanced. John McCain made the biggest mistake of his career picking her as his r unning mate.

I can't for the life of me understand why Sarah Palin is still in the media's limelight. She ran for Vice President, lost, and now should go on and do whatever it is she is doing. I could care less if the baby is hers, how she feels about Katie Couric (or anyone else for that matter). My wish for the new year is that Sarah gets out of the media; I could care less about her and think many others feel the same way.

Sarah need not even comment on the media. They are having a hard enough time covering the Democrats with a straight face even before Obama takes office – as the Donkey party has become quite an amusing circus of corruption and stupidity.

I feel that rational Republican need only be alive to get elected in 2012.

I did not think McCain/Palin were qualified to lead this nation, but I would never resort to tearing down a person the way the media has and continues to do. You people just find anything and everything you can to rip someone to shreds.

Do you think her medical records, which she never turned over, would have shown that Trig was a biological impossibility because she had her tubes tied?

All of you Palin-haters are just jealous of her. Palin has more balls than your wimpy little Obama who is just a pretender in a fancy suit. Just because he talks smooth and graduated from Harvard does not mean he should be POTUS. Sarah Palin is REAL with REAL values and principles whereas Obama is a FAKE. You all thought Bush was bad. Wait and see what this inexperienced and pretencious moron will take us. PALIN 2012

I dislike Ms. Palin very much, in fact I detest her, but I love reading stories about her because time and time again she reveals just how clueless she really is. She is the gift that keeps on giving! If she were smart she'd just shut up, but she isn't/doesn't so....... keep 'em coming and thanks again!

Well, of course she would. She is totally clueless. When "stupidity" suffices, why search for any other reason?

Unfortunately reporters ask tough questions. It's not sexism, or a blatant attack on Palin.... it's a bad candidate folding under tough circumstances. If McCain had picked Romney they would have probably won. If Republicans picked Romney from the start they would have won. You can't continue to do stupid things and expect great results.

Bloggers are not journalists so what ever they say are just their opinions on a computer or website. What I want to know is why the real media still reports this crap

Let her keep in the news, it gives me something to laugh at when there is nothing on tv......like this is the funniest thing i've heard in the last hour....can't she just play with her grandkid and teach abstinance to the rest of her kids before its too late? that should keep her busy for a while and since she already knows how all of that works, she won't even have to be prepped to teach it!

If the media is out to get her, why have they not reported on her poor judgement on the day Trigg was born. When her water broke she was in Dallas, Texas – did she see a doctor or go to a hospital, no she gave a speech. After the speech did she go to the hospital, no, she got on a commercial airliner to Seattle. Did she go to the hospital in Washington, no she waited for a flight to Alaska, Did she go to a hospital in Anchorage, no she drove for 40 minutes to a small medical center in Wasilla. All this even though she was delivering a premature baby, who had been diagnosed with developmental disabilities. All of this was reported by Alaskian newspapers at the time of the birth in April 2008.

It almost seems as if she was trying to have a miscarrage, since she could have an abortion. After all a miscarrage would be God's will.

Maggie from Virginia "I was trying to figure out what took them so long to make an arrest, since they reported that the investigation had been going on for some time."

You clearly know nothing about such investigations. They are long and drawn out because they aren't after pawns like Johnston, they follow her to find out who is above her, above the person above her, where they are shipping from, etc. They wait till they have all their ducks in a row and then they start getting people like her so they can make her roll on the people above her. Either way that story was proven to be garbage and you're buying it.

Sarah has brought this on her self. If she would stop making comments and complaing how she was treated. Then the people would not comment on her. She has got to realize that a lot of people dont like her, for the way she carried her self in the election all the hateful things she said about Obama and now she cant take the medicne she dished out. All her interviews she gave just proved that she isnt very smart and she has to realize this. She has a handful of republicans who think she is a queen. Mccain also was going by her looks when he picked her. It was a scary thought that she could of made it into the white house. But as Sarah would say it was a task of God that they didnt make it to the white house. The dumbest thing she done was when she thought the vp canidate was supposed to give a concession speach. Glad the Mccain put a stop to that. It would of been a hate speech against obama. Just like all the other ones she gave at her ralleys and got the crowd worked up and she did nothing to stop it.

Why is she still in the news? Don't you guys have something better to do than exploit the family of a has-been politician? Do the Palins and us a favor and send her back to the obscurity she had before she met John McCain.

Ironic. Gov. Palin complains about the press but keeps asking for interviews. Maybe her press coverage would be better if she was a better person–the truth hurts!

You liberals don't know what you're talking about. Sarah Palin should be Commander-in-chief of the United States military. Alaska is next door neighbors with Russia, for Pete's sake.

sad to say but Palin had her own intentions for parading her kids/family thru the campaign trail. Others showcased their families at the conventions and left it at that with an occasional appearance. Yeah Sarah it says a lot about our society, you have a degree in journalism albeit in sports where ever so often the sportscasters become Monday Quarterbacks instead of just calling the game don't ya?
