Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

Isn't this the woman who said women undermine themselves when they whine about unfair treatment? Maybe someone could explain why asking what sort of newspapers, magazines, books, etc. she reads is such a hardball question. I'm sorry but that's what I call fluff!

I couldn't help but laugh at her comment about the "special treatment" Caroline Kennedy has received. Every media outlet has ridiculed Kennedy's "ya knows" and questioned her qualifications.

What's with Fox News though? First, Greta moves in with Palin for a week of interviews. Now, they have a documentary and she's the subject of every O'Reilly show I've seen. Are they the All-Palin-All-the-Time-Network now?

Gov. Palin was fun. I hope she runs for president in 2012. She is not very smart, not well read at all, not very articulate, not a gifted administrator, and not particularly qualified to do anything that I can think of. She is mean-spirited and she talks with a forked tongue. She accuses people of being a socialist when I am willing to bet the rent money that she cannot define socialism. She has memorized a few buzz phrases.

She is a highly qualified spokesperson for modern American Conservatism. I hope she leads the Conservative cause to its destruction.

Its a no brainer to read who is actually writing this 'hate' stuff on Gov. Palin. Most are under 18 yrs old, and can't even vote. Ask them where Alaska is on the map and they wouldn't even be able to find it. Ask them if its a state and most wouldn't even know. Ask them where they work, and most would say "McDonalds, or Wal-Mart". These haters are so brain washed by the liberal media that its scarey to think they can't actually read and think for themselves. Sad...

Was it the Media that choose to place her in front of a bloody turkey slaughtering at Thanksgivivng? No-it was Sarah-grinning the whole time! The woman is MENTAL! It freaks me out to think how many Americans voted to have her a heartbeat away from holding the most powerful position in the world. The woman has a serious MIxed Personality Disorder, not to mention-she is not too bright.

Typical conservative, just blame the liberal press for all of their stupidity when it is really their own actions.

Is Bristol doing interviews, press releases and statements? Is she doing photo shoots for the media? Is her no good, no count, shiftless fiance's drug-dealing mother going out and talking about her? Then she is part of the machine. Either tell her to shut up and get out of the circus or deal with the consequences, positive or negative.

    End of story.

Does anyone really care??? This woman was a poor choice for vice-president and her team lost. She is back in Alaska where she should attempt to govern the state. Palin is one of those people who thrives on publicity - even negative publicity! At least McCain accepted his loss with dignity. Please.... can we have news that is important to our lives.

Let it be clearly understood: I am not a Palin supporter, however, I think the comments being delivered here goes beyond the pale. Also, it may be a good idea, before commenting on Palin's intelligence, vocabulary etc. that people check their grammar, spelling and not abuse the English language in such a public forum.

Sarah, time to shut up, go home, and stay home. But please do come back in 2012 to lead what's left of your party into permanent oblivion.

After just reading some of these comments, do you really think it's Sarah who is dumb? CNN should require at least a GED in order to comment.

This lady doesn't get it. She is easy picking for the media and she continues to respond to 3 month old issues. Any good pol knows that today's news is tomorrow's trash. Enough already.

And she thinks she has some other national aspirations and she blames and trashes the media for her problems.

It truly demonstrates her contiuned rookie behavior.
