Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

Wow... You people are sooooo funny. Just typing away at your little keyboards. Funny how you say things on line you wouldn't say in public. Here is a fact, Sarah Palin has accomplished more in her life and is indeed probably smarter than ever single one of you. But that just eats you up doesn't it..... Let's all see how you feel in 4 years after your great hope has run the course. See I want the best for my country and hope Obama succeeds. But it's not encouraging when he wants to spend a trillion dollars on stimulus when history shows that doesn't work. Who is the stupid person now... Liberals wouldn't know a balanced budget if it bit them in the butt.

Poor Sarah, you were able to come out and make yourself look good and talk a good (scripted and rehearsed) game....guess you thought no one would be able to see that behind your plastic facade.....that absolutely nothing was there. You have asked for everything you're getting....you just can't take it. Do yourself a favor......shut up and stay in Alaska where you belong.

Why did she have on those boots, purchased by the RNC that were return donated, or left in the belly of the plane?

If you can't stand the heat, stay in Alaska.
Palin and her family are the joke they have become. If she had not been picked to be VP no one give her two seconds of their time and her family would just evoke smiles.
Go play with the family's pet moose..or did you shoot it for fun?

You Liberals are all the same. You want women to have power, unless they are with the party of the enemy. You are the same people that cry about those killed in Iraq yet hold "a mother's right to choose" dear to your heart.

Death is wrong unless, apparently, you are trying to get rid of an unwanted person in your life. Face it, life starts at conception and anyone that agrees to abortion is agreeing to murder. Anyone against the war because of the killing that supports Pro-Choice is a hypocrite. Either life is scared or it's not.

It is bad enough that the woman appears to be ignorant of her own actions and words and the picture they portray of her, but why does the press and media have to frenzy around her pitiful projections. The woman does not deserve the attention she is getting.

    Obama = affirmative action?

Oh really? Then you don't know much about law schools or the Law Reviews at law schools.

In order to make editor of your school's Law Review, you have to be pretty darned brilliant.

You don't make Law Review with affirmative action.

How ignorant is THAT poster. Ugh

I hope she stays in the media. I hope she continues to be exposed for her true essence. Tell us more, Governor Palin, please, bestow upon us your wisdom. It's what you want, right Governor?

The people have spoken, just as you literally said you wanted in your campaign. They said we want Mr. Obama and Mr. Biden to lead us. Take the hint, please.

Gov Palin is absolutely right. Most of the media has lost all credibility for me due to the distortions, half truths and outright lies repeated by them as gospel. Most of these were of course unjustifiably directed toward Gov Palin. Many of these distortions, half truths and lies are still believed and repeated as fact by the uninformed few.

She is really not very interesting anymore. She lost the election and it is time to move on. Too many whiners in this country just like all the people who gave all their money to Bernard Madoff. Rule #1 – Always diversify your holdings. Nobody takes any responsibility for their own lives anymore. That is why this country is a mess.

"crowds that Obama pals around with terrorists and have people introduce her who involk Obama's middle name as a slur, and whipping crowds into homocidal anger is something far worse than anything media has done."

Um – what do you call Bill Ayers – the man who financed the start of Obama's political career? He's an unapologetic terrorist who bombed federal buildings, tried to kill a federal judge and police officer and had planned to bomb a military dance – killing our own soldiers.

Go after Palin – she was fair game. But her kids were not. No one talked about Obama's kids, no one speculated about the parentage of his children. That crossed the line.

ENOUGH. I've seen this idiot more since the election is over than I did of John McCain for two years.

I'm sure every time she runs her mouth that the McCain campaign hits themselves in the head.

As dumb as she is, she's absolutely right (for once). All the media cares about is making sure the price of the advertising time and space that they sell is as high as possible….that means having a high share of the market for viewership/readership and a high click count on websites. How do you do that?

Step 1 – Understand that Americans are starving for controversy and gossip.

Step 2 – Report EVERYTHING as though it is a controversy even though it is just gossip.

Matt! You are the Genius! With all the questions about why Sarah is still in the news you alone formulated it correctly. It is exactly what happens and will happen, and the folks will love it. Sarah will not go away so easily.

I normally just scroll through the ignorant ranting of ignorant liberals, but man I gotta tell you, anyone who cannot see that Gov. Palin is FAR more qualified than BO, is just nuts. The only reason liberals hate her is because she is qualified, and she is beautiful. Show me a beautiful liberal and I will kiss your you know what. Liberals are only alive to be a victim, and if they can't be a victim, they invent something in order to be considered a victim. When BO and the Clinton gang run this country into the ditch or God forbid we are attacked again, who are they going to call on to fix it? That would be conservatives, and personally I would like to line up all the folks who voted for this affirmative action potus, but trust me, when the crap hits the fan, they will all deny voting for him. Liberals don't even understand that we have fought wars so that they could have the freedom to spew their venom, nothing good is going to come of any of this.

I search the internet every day for stories about her. They always make me laugh in these difficult times. The lady should be given her own comedy show – that way we might be able to laugh with her instead of at her.
