Palin accuses media of 'personal, salacious' reporting

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

Palin lashed out at the media in a Friday statement.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

Watching Sarah Palin is like gawking at a train wreck. It makes you feel a little slimy but you just can't help yourself, especially when the victim keeps jumping in front of the train again and again.

This poor, sad woman is in need of some serious couch time with a good shrink.

Well if that Axe she used to attack the Obama campaign isn't creating
“adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.” Then I dont know what is.

Now she knows how Democrats feel when their ideas are subjected to the Republican spin machine......

Perhaps the real problem is that she is simply unqualified to have been nominated for VP!

Crybaby....and to think she might have been a heartbeat away from being President....Just what we needed...another nonintellectual executive who blames all of his/her own mistakes on someone else.

The only thing good about this is the Republicans are seeing the real Palin...let her talk....she not only won't be a viable candidate in 2012...she'll probably lose her Governor's seat in 2 years.....then she can go back to hunting moose full time....what am I saying...she probably will be hired by FOX......

"So far Carolyn Kennedy can speak and answer questions on her own. But if she can't…you betcha, I will be commenting on that."

    LOL!! That's funny.

I think she should just let it go with the media, I don't want her to be like T.O...

Maybe she should have held a press conference before the election, to dispel these rumors, but the evil liberal media would have asked her "gotcha" questions like "what newspapers do you read" and "what do you think about the Bush doctrine".

Not that she needed to answer any questions regarding her fitness for office. She's like, totally a Christian and stuff, therefore she's qualified to be anything from a VP to an astronaut. Right, Republicans?

With a drug addict son she forced into the military, an unwed teenage mother for a daughter who's on her second child, the uneducated, unemployeed son of meth dealer for her future son-in-law, and "her" child Trig that she continues to parade around in a charade, how can she not expect to get some media attention. Brittany Spears doesn't deliver that much daily drama.

Sarah is not going anywhere sorry....maybe you just need to stop reading about her!

Just like some of us have stopped reading about something else coming up on the 20th?? Who cares! Go away!

Now did that sound just as stupid as all of your postings above. What is so striking about all of your "go away" posts is that you just cant stop reading about her....maybe it is you that need to go away.

No wonder we are in the mess we are in. First, we make stars out of air heads and nincompoops – and then we elect them!

Easy solution: stop giving interviews and disappear. Ever heard the expression "it's better to be silent and have people think your stupid, than to speak and prove it" and "a shut mouth catches no flies"?

The higher you climb the more exposure and resulting criticism you get. Unfortunately, it comes with the territory – Obama can tell you that too! Anyway, Sarah, so long (AGAIN) – the family needs you!

She better stay on the good side of the press if she intends on running in 2012. Might be cutting off her nose to spite her face. Or she could just keep talking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh......I could just wring John McCain's old wrinkly neck for thrusting this ignorant hillbilly into the public spotlight. With that said, I hope she keeps on digging..uh, I mean talking herself into oblivion. Can she keep it up until 2012? Stay tuned. I hope she does become the face of the New and Improved GOP. The democrats will be in power a looooong time if she keeps on talkin'...wink, wink!!!

Will she ever get a brain? She seems to really believe that she is an influencial person that is going to drive our country into the future. If there was ever a disfunctional family to watch it is hers.

I seriously doubt the coverage of Kennedy will be anywhere near as intense as the coverage on Palin.
But I guess that might be because Kennedy isnt trying for the VP position!!
Just a slight difference there on job importance and what it would mean to not just the US but the world stage.

"seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office"

Yeah isnt it strange how the media seem to concentrate more on the people going for the more powerful positions, go figure 😛

Give me a break..Palin said things that were not true about Obama and she refused to correct those things and knew they were false. She needs to sit down and take care of her home.

Is she still talking? And why?

I found it telling that she said she was angered when she heard Tina Fey say marriage was between two unwilling teenagers. Didn't she claim to have watched that with the sound turned down? Weak.

Well, Sarah, you may have some street smarts and a nice wink – but you are not that smart, that was the problem. One of the best traits of a leader is strong self-awareness. Sadly, she has none.

Those who live by innuendo and half-truths and knowingly false witness, should, should, should be ashamed to complain when it's directed back at them!!!

How come you're not ashamed Sarah?! You planted an awful lot of very bad karma in the political fields and now you're reaping what you did sow.

gOVENOR pALIN was not emotionally mature enough to run for VP because now that she lost, she's unable to move on, instead she's blaming everything known to mankind for her loss except her own shortcomings. She didn't even understand that being a heartbeat away from the Presidency which would've been held by a 72 year old man who is a 4 time cancer survivor, well yes you're going to get a close look but not being able to spout out the newspapers you read was a big part of her downfall. She's a spoiled brat who is used to getting everything she wants just by batting her eyes only not this time thank God
