Bush makes final flight aboard Air Force One

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/10/art.airforceone.gi.jpg caption="President Bush has made his final flight aboard Air Force One."](CNN) – President Bush has flown on Air Force One to Washington for the last time.

The President and Mrs. Bush landed at Andrews Air Force Base at 3:20 pm, ending their final flight aboard Air Force One. They returned to Norfolk, Virginia, where the USS George H.W. Bush was commissioned Saturday morning.

Air Force One, with President Bush still on board, taxied directly into its hangar at the base. The president met privately with workers who are part of the presidential airlift group that handled operations for the planes.

White House spokesperson Dana Perino said President Bush wasn’t aware this was his last flight on Air Force One until he was told by an interviewer.

The next time he’ll be on the plane, it will be as a former president being flown back to Texas after President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office. The plane will have a different designation for that flight, since it is only Air Force One when the sitting president is on board.

Can I say "good riddance"? Seriously, I am looking forward to 50 years from now when the people can say what good Bush did for America. The eternal optimist, I am sure there is something....

I have no doubt that to be perverse, Bush will fly to Texas for pizza in the coming weeks. No one tells him when it is his last flight!

Lets hope they srub it from head to toe before Obama takes it over. The last thing he needs is to be contaminated by the remnants of Bush and his ilk.

You're kidding...nobody told him it was his last ride on the big plane. Can't wait till he gets back here in Dallas so he can pay for some of these freakin toll roads he started and Gov Perry finished...I'm sure he'll get reminded to pay up!

To Truth: Could not agree with you more on your statement :"TRULY the END of an ERROR!!" Unfortunately that error has lingering effects and the world is paying for it each day and in the years to come unless Obama can perform some "vodoo economics" and turn things around.

Any military vehicle the President is on that has the ability to transport him carries the designation of 1. Marine 1, Army 1, Air Force 1, Navy 1.

Who cares what President Obama's (bit early, get used to it) middle name is? These moronic little digs are all that the Democracy hating tin foil headed Anti-freedom Republican party has left in their arsenal. The ignorance really shines when one considers the intimate incestuos long term love fest that the Shrub family has with the Saudi Royal family whose last name happens to be Bin Laden. Kind of ironic eh? Unfortunately, it may take a decade or more for the United States to recover from the Bush/Cheney war on America, capitalism, and the greedy money grabbing rape of our economy that will continue until his last moments in office.

That was one of the dumbest and most pathetic things that I have ever read on here. George W. Bush was a terrible President and if he could Constitutionally run for office, he would have lost in an even bigger landslide than the much more respectable, intelligent and principled John McCain.

This country's hatred of Bush was a major factor in the non competitive nature of the racde.

Dan, don't ever post on here again, we don't want to hear it.

    I am serious.

Can't wait for Obama to make his first gaff, and he will, just to see
how you people react. Can't have it both ways.

How can you not know that it would be your final flight. It is sad that a interviewer had to tell him that.

Don't blame Bush... Blame the fools who elected and still support him. They are the real enemies.
