Record number of job seekers flock to Obama

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Over 350,000 and counting. That's how many people the Obama transition team says have submitted resumes online hoping to land a job with the incoming administration. The problem is there are only an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 jobs available at this time.
Some federal employment specialists say the record number of applicants can be attributed in part to the current state of the economy. "A lot of people want to work in a stable environment," said Kathryn Troutman, founder of The Resume Place. "They really don't know where else to go to look for a job that's stable and steady and would have potential, so I think the economy is one thing."
But the appeal of working for Barack Obama is also driving interest, Troutman said.
"I think a lot of people would really like to work for the Obama administration. They'd like to be part of these changes that he's talking about. The jobs that he's creating and the new programs that he's creating."
That's the reason why Loryn Wilson uploaded her resume on change.gov. "I definitely feel the call to serve and to do something that is directly related to causes I care about, she said.
Wilson is a recent graduate of George Washington University in Washington. She has a bachelors degree in English and speaks enthusiastically of working for the new President. "I would actually like to work for the press secretary or the communications director. Ideally I'd be working on the White House side or maybe working for Michelle Obama in her communications shop."
The flood of applicants aren't just college graduates. People at various stages of their professional lives are taking a long hard look at federal jobs.

At least these jobs won't be outsourced to India or some other country where you CANNOT understand what the heck someone is telling you about your Toshiba laptop when you call for technical support.

Obama is going to create 4 million new jobs, but they'll all be in the construction industry. Let's all grab a shovel and get to work.
Maybe Joe the Plumber can finally get a REAL job cleaning and fixing toilets in the White House!
Wouldn't it be wise of PE Obama's team to send the resumes of those they can't use to the native states of the applicant....
between federal and state , or even their local areas there must be some type of work for the excess in applicants.....I mean we have enough 'bail out' money going around to make the jobs.
I wish all these job seekers the best of luck with their quest to work for PE Obama, they will indeed be very lucky to work with his team...so many looking for so few positions, but some will make it.

Lets see, and not in any order,,, just ones I feel important.
I would bail out,
The single mom with kids working two jobs and has a deadbeat ex husband who already has kids by another woman.
The senior citizen who worked his or her entire life at one place only to see it close down and take his or her pension along with it in bankrupcty,
The man or woman who has lost thier house, car, life savings, because if a severe illness or accident and they worked at a job with no health benefits.
The people who house burned down, and because they sepdn all of thier money on food and needed items for thier family, they had no money left to rebuild.
The widow to a police officer who was shot int he line of duty by some junky, drug dealer, rapist, gangster,,, who then lived and got let out of jail on some technicality.
This is just a start, but notice, no Wall Street, no Auto maker, no white collar execs, NO POLITICIANS,,,,

Are they trying to get an early jump on the 600,000 goverment jobs Obama will create to get his 3 million jobs? Yes 600,000 federal jobs that the press is not talking about. The 20% that private industry cannot cannot create. Do the math!
Obama should hire all 350 thousand. Give them all the "czar" title for something and run off some more money to pay them.
It is all near-sighted, only four short years. Have we learned anything from history, the "emperors" of the past?
I guess that this is the start of the 3 or 4 million odd jobs that the PE is going to "create". I am sure that Mao is smiling somewhere right now....Solidarity!
Working in the new administration will probably be the most rewarding work anyone can do in government at this time in history. Mr. Lamen would probably be a great addition to any government post as our country seems to be tied up in Middle East affair whether or not we like it. It would be nice to have some experts in the Middle East.

Three to four thousand jobs, uh? I wonder how many will be offered to minorities. It would be poetic justice if a white person filed a reverse discrimination lawsuit for not being offered a job based on race. I once worked for an insurance company who was sued, with the aid of the EEOC, by a black person who had to wait for two hours before being interviewed for a job. As a result, that unqualified black person HAD to be offered ANY administrative job that became available for two years. I foresee racial discrimination in an Obama administration, but against white people. It only takes one black person to be in just the right position of authority.
Here we go! Yes a few of these people may get possitions, but I honestly doubt it. Obama has many shady friends in Ill. that he wants to join him in Washington. So now, all of those Obama suporters can hold their hands out for a "hand out" instead of a job.

to drug tests, psychology tests, hell even an IQ test would have

NO we have real people in need of work for years now and everything

Where did eveybody get the idea that Obama is going to cure all of our job and financial problems for us? He hasn't got a clue. It is as obvious as the nose on your face, unless you don't have one. He is not a cure all. He is an unqualified rookie that does not know where to turn. His idea of change is to bring back all of the folks that Clinton had during his administration. That is not change and anybody that believes it is nuts.
