[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/12/art.beyonce.gi.jpg caption="Beyonce will be among the stars to appear at the inaugural kickoff event."](CNN) - The opening celebration of the presidential inauguration will feature a massive line-up of musical all-stars performing a free show in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial, the Presidential Inaugural Committee said Monday.

The event will feature performances by: "Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Renee Fleming, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, John Mellencamp, Usher Raymond IV, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder," said the committee. "Among those reading historical passages will be Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington."

The release confirmed that Rev. Gene Robinson, an openly gay Episcopal bishop, will deliver the invocation, and that additional performances may be added.

The event will be televised by HBO on an open signal accessible to all U.S. viewers with access to cable, telcos or satellite television.

I'm not the least bit interested in millionaires and how they perform. I would rather see REAL people such as marching bands and people serving our country.

    Thank you.

America 2009. Not exactly what I had in mind as a kid when I imagined what the future would be like.

Most "celebrities" rank among the lowest of the low in my book. Contributing nothing to society, with views and morals to match.

Wow if you don't like Beyonce and think she is over rated and way over hyped. She is mind you, not saying she does not have talent just way overhyped like a lot things today, president elects included. And just because she will be at the inaugeration the Obama Internet Thug patrol brow beats you with their opinion. Fred, Tim you are entitled to your opinions even if others are telling you to just goose step along.

What America needs is productivity. We need jobs that come as a result of free enterprise, free markets and capitalism, not free money and sure as h@@@ not a bunch of obamas pets performing for him.

This is an excellent opportunity to galvanize what is a multifaceted society. While conservatives tend to be over the edge with most matters, there is some prudence in taking some of their beliefs and values as our own. We are a hybrid nation...or at least getting there. Division only stifles the inevitable and while we may disagree, albeit, vehemently at times, there is a sense of order here that defeats the 'old school' divisiveness that was common in the past and continues to linger in obscure forms. What does this have to do with the entertainment line-up piece here? Everything and nothing...the point is and will always be in these types of articles is that Obama has finally lit a candle in most people. Those that resist silently want to join in rejoicing but can't bring themselves out of the 'republican' hole.

With all of the artists and different genres of music that the article said will be represented at the Inauguration celebration, if you can't find any enjoyment or anything positive to say about it, then you just must WANT to be miserable and critical. Sheesh! Music is good for the soul (especially good music). Killjoys Be Gone!

your reporting of the middle east war is dispicable. no bias no bull translates into total bull. showing a small hamas child crying is a resut of hamas using innocent civilians to get the worlds sympathy is an outrage. show all the missles hamas sends into israel. thank god they do not know what they are doing, even with the aid of iran. but they may get lucky and your cameras will not show innocent civilians hurt. why don't you ask the obvious question. why doesn't hamas stop firing missles. you won't ask because hamas is out to destroy israel. i sometimes wonder if i am watching cnn or the united nations. both of you do not care about israel but the poor palistiants looking to eliminate israel from the map.

Jeez, guys, this is just the lineup for FREE entertainment for people attending the Inauguration. You don't have to like Beyonce, and I don't have to like Garth Brooks, but it says a lot that this rather eclectic and varied lineup agreed to perform for free. I mean, how often do you see will.i.am, Josh Grolin, and Garth mentioned in the same sentence???

Yes, there is a lot of crap going on in the world, serious stuff, but that doesn't mean that every story HAS to be gloom and doom. Why not let the few hundred thousand people who will be there in person and the millions who will be watching have a nice time for a few hours. I know I'll be watching, even if I have to watch it on my computer at work.

Fish ... Springsteen is guilty of treason? How do you figure? ... wait, don't tell me ... you've got a source that says he was the mastermind and disclosed the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame while America was at war! Yeah, that's the ticket!

Seriously, get a life, dude ....

Wow,,, People!! The machine is working,, they have you all distracted and consumed with what matters least. Funny things is you are eating up like hot cakes with maple syrup on a snowy morning. What is really alarming is 30-40% of those who have commented, have also REPRODUCED = very scary for our future.. Yes, I agree this country needs change, Yes, I am optimistic that the President-Elect can deliver, and I WILLl remain a PROUD American. With all the Rok Start hoopla, I hope that they can squeeze in an honorable mention for the Men and Women of the armed forces that are making it possible for you and I to sit at our desks and have an opinion about all of this.

OK Fish...I'll bite. What treasonous act did Springsteen commit?
Did he spy on fellow citizens without a warrant? Did he reveal the identity of a CIA agent?
And don't you have to be an immigrant to be deported? Wasn't he born in Jersey?

I have no idea why conservatives have the reputation of being grossly out of touch with reality...
