[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”
The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”
"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.
“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."
But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."
The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."
Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.
Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.
"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'
Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."
Please stop these pathetic attempts to stay in the news.
Better to remain silent and to appear a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Sort of like the Arab world constantly telling me how much they believe in peace – the more they try to tell me the less I believe them.
Well this lady keeps trying to tell us how smart and qualified she really is and the more she talks the dumber she appears.
To all of you who continually ask Palin bashers to leave her alone: Do you see how hard it is? She won't go away! "An alikeness." Holy cow.
Sorry Sarah, I know that in Alaska everyone is decent, honest, and good hearted, but the rest of the nation is filled with evil, dishonest, hateful liberal Democrats.
Well then why dont you let it go, you are appearing to be very thin skin and vinditive, not good qualities for a Presidential hopeful, and please make up your mind, you blame Mccain for letting you speak to Katie Couric a 2nd time after you said it was a mistake you did not do more interview's, people see through you Sarah Palin, you dont belong on the national stage, stay in Alaska where they try to vote in Senators who have been convicted of felony corruption charges, in other words low standards will work. by the way if your fed up with bloggers why dont you cross that border into Russia where freedom of speech is not held in high reguard.
CNN:
Please tell me how I can get my 15 minutes of fame extended for as long as you have extended this dim wit's and Joe the (not really a) Plumber's?
I'm no Palin fan. I can't wait for her to go back and focus on running Alaska. However, I have to agree with her on the press perpetuating the Trig myth. If I was in the subject of the national media, and folks kept questioning whether my kid was my kid, I'd be pretty hostile to them.
No matter what we think of Palin's politics, experience or capabilities, it is time we stop dragging her family through the mud.
She honestly refuses to go away!!!
Sarah honey...stand in line. There's not a public figure out there that doesn't become the target of malicious lies, innuendo, and accusations. All the candidates suffered from all sorts of slings and arrows on blogs, in the news, and newspapers.
Get over it...if you have any thought of throwing your hat in the ring in 2012, I suggest you get a tougher skin and learn to roll with the punches.
You're starting to sound like one really bitter VP loser...taking swipes at everyone around you. You said, "Yes" to McCain, and if you haven't watched witnessed previous campaigns (say for example, 2000 and 2008), then you're just plain clueless. Or, perhaps as Katie Couric somewhat uncovered, you really didn't read any newspapers or magazines all that often.
Lady...get a backbone, and quit blaming everyone else for your problems...learn to be humble and self-effacing...and learn to laugh at yourself. If not, you won't last 5 minutes running for office in 2012...the Republican party will have your head on a platter. Maybe you need to spend some time "palling around with terrorists" to find out just what the real political world is really like.
bloggers who refer to themselves as "journalists" are fast catching up to lawyers on the integrity chart.
If palin was taking advice from herself, she would be taking advice from an idiot. BTW palin, people are not laughing at you because you can see Russia from your house, they are laughing because you said that was your foreign policy experience.
republicans, they think the more time that goes by people will forget what actually happened. Like bush "History will judge my time as president" yes and history will judge you as a failure.
Oh, please . . . all the facts which stated the series of events up until Sara's claim to have given birth was and is too unrealistic to have happened the way she stated they happened. I believe that was also concluded by a real physician who also stated that it was not possible.
As for the bloggers, they were only expressing their views just as they saw fit, including myself. From the beginning, millions of bloggers/people saw what I saw – Saras wrongful intentions and most importantly of all, her lack of intelligence ON EVERYTHING.
Sara is a self-centered person and millions and millions of people are Extremely Thankful she lost.
Of course she is right. It's disgusting how our society now no longer wants to actually discuss anything. People just want to bash those who don't agree with them and start with the namecalling.
I wonder what else was in the interview...I doubt it was just this one question. However, I'm sure the bashers will presume Sarah Palin called for an interview just to make this point, and they will bash her for it.
From what I've seen of Sarah Palin posting on this site, this will get a hundred or so comments. The bashers can't help but bash her, and at the same time wonder why people are giving her attention. Can't you Palin haters understand, if these articles continue to get a lot of response, negative or positive, there will be more of them?
This train wreck keeps getting worse every day. And sadly, I can't turn away.
Talk about a great month – Palin practically ensures a solid Demo majority, and Bush leaves office.
What could be better?
Bloggers are worthless.
LIES?????
Kinda like when a certain governor from Alaska repeatedly said she said "NO" the the Bridge to Nowhere even though she actively sought out money for it from Congress?
Sarah, are those the kind of lies you are talking about?
Oh please....would this woman go away already? Nothing was taken out of context. She 's someone that shouldn't be a governor let alone the Vise President of the US!
The media maybe getting out of hand with the whole story about her son. Now, what upsets me & others and drives them to do crazy things, during the time of the campaign it BOTHERED me so much to hear how she supposedly is an erxpert not only in Autism but other disabilities. To me that a low blow to us mothers who have kid's with disabilities. And she sure flaged her son around the canmpaigns. She doesn't know anything and never will. If we're going to ask anyone about Autism, it should be Jenny McCarthy not Palin.
How much longer will have to hear her whining!!!!!
Please, someone make it stop!!!!!
She needs an image consultant. Everybody who didn't already think she was crazy is going to change their minds.
As little as I like the Republican Party, I think Sarah Palin is beneath even its standards. Every time she opens her mouth, she self-destructs a little more.
Open letter to Sarah Palin: Dear Sarah, please ignore the ignorance of some of the American people. We all know that the majority of the news outlets are liberal and that there "so called" journalists are left-wingers. I voted for you and Senator McCain and I cried when I heard the reports that the two of you had lost the election. I am hoping for the best for this country and I sincerely hope that Obama can turn things around, but I am thoroughly tired of you having to defend yourself , your family and your previous statements made during the election race. I am proud of how you have handled yourself and I hope you are equally as proud. You were picked to be the vice presidential running mate for the greatest country in the world. This is a wonderful honor and I am sure you would have done a great job. Forget all the gossip and vile slanders of the press, continue doing a great job for Alaska, take care of your family and yourself, and I will waiting for you to try again in 2012!!! Good luck and if you ever get down to Georgia, look me up. I'll make you some of MY venison chili.
Uh. Wow. SHE is pathetic.
I love Sarah Palin and think she has been attacked by the media in a way that did not happen with the male candidates. She has proven she is a smart, strong headed woman and has a lot to offer. I think the media should move on and let her be instead of just trying to find things to create about her. Bottom line is she is a woman who has moral and values and stands up for them and many of the media slamming her are VERY liberal!!
PLease QUIT covering this woman-–then maybe she will GO AWAY!
