Palin slams 'bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”

The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”

"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.

“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."

But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."

The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."

Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.

Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.

"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'

Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."

I am a Democrat, but not so much so that I completely disrespect Republicans. I have many Republican friends, and I respect many Republican leaders. But, if this woman becomes the leader of the Republican Party, God help all of us, Democrats and Republicans alike.

Does anybody else feel like throwing up after reading this article? I feel like I just got off of a boat and I'm suffering from sea sickness. She is STILL all over the place! I almost want to tell the poor woman to give it up. She's not convincing anyone of anything at this point. And it's obvious that she is still craving the limelight. She should go take care of her family and leave the world be.

Enough already! Shut up! If you don't like the media WHY do you keep talking to them????? The only reason they keep wanting you to give interviews is so you will say something else that is stupid and make us all laugh.

Good gracious- this poor woman needs to practice some of what she preaches.... "Let it go" would include her not dredging up all of her hurt feelings and angst regarding her loss in November. I swear, a college intern in politicial science has more sense than she does when it comes to media relations and how to let a story die. Yikes... and to think she could have been No. 2...

Why is she so defensive about this? She is just creating more controversy about Trig's real mom! If Palin really wants to stop this, go on Maury and get a DNA test!!

Palin's attempt to stay in the spotlight by repeating old rumors from blogs is a pathetic attempt to maintain public attention. Maybe she could try and get serious and talk about issues that matter instead of talking about herself. Of course, she'd need to have some indepth understanding of the issues and that would mean, oh shoot, preparation and work.

Did Palin EVER release medical records stating anything other than she was healthy? Why not??? She has a lot to hide. It is obvious she is spoiled rotten when it comes to things going her way ....I guess she will never stop complaining and trying to put herself in the spotlight even when it is overwhelmingly apparent we do not wish to hear about her and her idiot statements. This country is so much brighter than that. Did her water break in Texas and she boarded a plane for hours back to Alaska to have baby and Bristol had mono and was absent from school for months but then turned up at the hospital? OK to go to hospital but not school? GEEZ enough is enough we get the picture a hundred ways

    Dear Governor Palin,

Please, for your sake and ours, give it up already. You are irrelevant. Washed up. Lately, you've crossed the line from irritating to outright pathetic.

Stop attacking the media and the "world of journalism": while I cannot possibly understand why anyone still cares about you and your (long gone) fifteen minutes of fame, reporters REPORT the news. You see the connection? For some reason, you still qualify as news, though I'm fairly certain that stories about you exist only to create more material to "The Daily Show."

You are a laughing stock. The only reason you were chosen to be John McCain's running mate is the fact that you are a woman. It's a shame that he managed to pick the stupidest woman to ever grace my television news and Newsweek.

Stop the interviews. Stop trying to pull the spotlight in your direction. Bury your head underneath the snow and hide there until the world manages to forget that a disgrace like you ever existed. Then maybe you might be worthy of a smidgen of respect.

McCain and the RNC should be bitterly ashamed of themselves for foisting this yammermouthed nitwit upon the nation.

Not that I'm holding my breath or anything.

As a liberal i feel that in some ways the media did give her (Sarah Palin)trouble, but you know what... it's McCain campaign's fault. She did not handle herself properly and she wasn't able to detect those 'gotcha' questions. She was unprepared for the interviews, and frankly it's probably what cost her and McCain the election. They did not prepare her for the national media's onslaught which they should have foreseen. And by they time they did prepare her it was too late. But the media never ceases to amaze me, because they do come out with the most ignorant questions I've ever heard of.

Earth calling Sarah! Earth calling Sarah! If you equate bloggers with "journalism", you are far more clueless than I thought. And your baseline of "having a clue" wasn't high to begin with.

Palin is a great example of what happens when our children grow up thinking they know it all, and then are met with people who prove them wrong. This woman should do the GOP a favor and shut her pie-hole

Sorry, I am bored and have nothing else to do today.

Sara Palin needs to stop and really, really go away. She is making a complete fool out of herself. She needs to go some place and really study about the world, what is a contient and what is a country. She needs to read and understand what she is reading. The people of these United States is sick to death of her. Let it go lady.
