Palin slams 'bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”

The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”

"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.

“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."

But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."

The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."

Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.

Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.

"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'

Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."

No offense to Palin or her VP bid, but I stopped caring last year. Did she get treated unfairly? Yes, but who in the election wasn't to a degree? Everything got over-analyzed and spun this way and that. It's what the media does. Could'as, would'as, and should'as are at the very least useless. Let it go. Let it be. And move on.
Want to come back for 2012? Okay.
Want to become a Rep. leader? Okay.
Want to retire from the public eye? Okay.
Just whatever, the elections is over.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to interview Palin. She really does not appear very intelligent. Just the fact that she dosnt read the newspaper or keep up with national events. That alone would scare me. She is not material for the lower 48. She should stay up there near russia.

Someone please tell me why she is still talking?

"You have to let it go,” she said.

When will she do that? She is seriously talking her way out of running again. so let me get this straight, your teenage daughter just had a baby, her fiance's mother just went to jail, her son has Down's Syndrome and all you are worried about still is the media? Has she even done any legislating since she has been back in Alaska?

She thinks double-, triple-, quadruple-checks of who is Trig's real mom are annoying. Hey, atleast it didn't go to the supreme court as did the ridiculous questioning of the citizenship of president-elect Barack Obama, but something tells me she has no problems with the "Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers" that fueled that lie.

Palin would do herself a favor to stay out of the spotlight. For as true as some of her comments in this latest interview are, her comments are coming off as whining. If she has future political ambitions (and, knowing her character, I'm sure she does), she'd be wise to build her image and political capital through a *restricted* series of interviews, and to go back to governing in Alaska.

Unfortunately for her, Palin has become a bit of an entertainment figure in news cycles today. While readers may be intrigued by her speech and find her something fun to talk about, she needs to be taken seriously. There's no faster way to do that than to stop being a drama queen and start being a governor.

What was that about the "beam in your own eye"? Palin would be a lot more credible if she had been truthful on the campaign trail. It is hypocrites like her that give Christians a bad name

  13. 7 more days!

What is Palin's opinion of pathetic VP candidates who lie about their credentials and accomplishement and spread lies about their opponents? I see an "alikeness" between the "pathetic" bloggers and herself.

Palin is an interesting character. The more she talks, the less qualified she appears to run anything. McCain's people didn't let her speak for very obvious reasons. And she keeps trying desperately to rewrite her own recent history but only makes things worse.

And we, the public, love to hear her latest spin on what happened during the campaign. She seems to think the press picked on only her and no one else. My aren't we a little bit self centered.

No one doubted you could see Russia from Alaska although I'm sure many didn't know that before she told us... including me. The problem was, that was her answer to why she is qualified to make foreign policy decisions. That was her "...but I didn't inhale" dumb answer. But rather than let it go and move on, she keeps trying to change the story, which only makes her look petty and is great fodder for the entertainment news. And let's not kid ourselves, when Sarah talks, it is entertainment news, not political news.

Keep talkin' up there Sarah. We love to hear what ya have to say next.

Sarah Palin, if you are reading this (which you might be, due to your recent obsession with the media) please GO AWAY. Your 15 minutes of fame are over. Americans saw through your charade and picked the better candidates for president and vice president. You need to get over it and spend your time doing your jobs as governor of Alaska and mother.

I wish Palin would quit trying to "fix" her reputation. The damage is done – it's over. Forget it – no one is interested in her opinions.

Sarah, the reason why many of us adore you is that you seem to be the only politician, other than the Bush's and McCain, who have had to really show some substance. Bush I & II both actually FLEW high performance aircraft in REAL combat. McCain, the same, but with the added craziness of being a POW. You actually were raised to hunt. NOT a normal girl-thing in America. AND, you field dress your own game for actual consumption. There is just something to beholden a real person rather than the fake mouth-tools that have legs in Washington. Keep up your WORK. We real people are all rooting for you.

But I am not anonymous: I keep tryin' to change that wacky family name I have.

    Dear Ms. Palin,

We'll stop talking about the stupid things you say when you stop saying them. Don't blame the media because you cited as evidence of your foreign policy exerience the fact that Russia can be seen from Alaska. This statement was NOT taken out of context by the media; it is you who are trying to remove the colntext to make it sound like a simple factual statement. It was the context in which you said it that made it stupid, and the fact that you keep bringing it up is even more stupid.
