Palin slams 'bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”

The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”

"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.

“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."

But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."

The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."

Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.

Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.

"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'

Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."

Sarah Palin strikes me as someone who harbors serious resentment towards anyone from suburbs or urban areas. A few apologies after the fact are not going to patch things over for those of us in the suburbs who don't like condescension from rural elitists.

Her calling more of the shots? Why do I have the feeling that she needs everything to be about her? This thing was about McCain mostly, NOT her.

CNN's obsessive reporting on ANYTHING this woman does or says is sad. There is so much more going on in the world that you could (and should) be reporting.

    Show some journalist acumen, please.

I am sick and tired of Palin and her constant complaining about the Trig rumor. She is such a broken record. I don't believe for a second that the Anchorage Daily News called about the story. If it happened, it was probably some nutcase posing as the ADN. She says "You have to let it go"? Then she won't drop it. The story got NO play anywhere but in the fringes. Not one major organization has printed anything giving it credence.

As for the "Russia from Alaska" thing, it wasn't mocked because the media thought it was untrue. It was mocked because she was arguing the silly notiion that it somehow gave her foreign policy experience. Nuance is lost on her.

There were endless false rumors about Obama and his family that played out on blogs. I never once heard Palin complain about that.

I don't understand. I thought Gov. Palin wanted media coverage regarding her children to stop. Yet, day after day, she keeps flapping her gums and bringing them up. She can't have it both ways.

I say they give her a daytime TV slot. She's sooo entertaining! I mean seriously folks, she's a riot no? I thought she'd go bury her head in the sand, but seems she can't get enough attention. Keep the laughs coming Sarah!

I think the only "continued problem" with journalism is that it continues to give this nut job the time of day. Her clock ran out ages ago, and yet we continue to see her and hear her mindless quips every few days. Enough already.

I think Sarah Palin is the only breath of fresh, honest, and moral air that there is on the political front today and instead of hammering her all the time, I feel she should be recognized for what a great and inteligent person she is. It is my hope that she will consider letting her name be placed in the hat for the presidency in 2012. By then, WE WILL REALLY BE NEEDING A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. God bless you Sarah, keep up the fight. There are a lot of us with you.

  14. Oh! The Irony

So Governor Palin is crying about the media. They're picking on her....boo hoo. Would this strategy work with Iran, N. Korea, or Russia? Point is, enough of the thin skin. Either you're in this political game to win, or you should beg someone to change YOUR diaper and go back to your play crib.

The way the media treated Sarah Palin during the campaign was demeaning and disgraceful. Even now, whenever Gov. Palin responds to some ridiculous comment or charge made about her, you report that she is slamming, blasting, attacking, etc., (whatever stupid, abusive and inacurate term your pseudo-reporter cares to use to further demean her), the disgraceful treatment doesn't stop. Try very, very hard to learn to be professional in your reporting. Try very, very hard to learn that even public figures have feelings and are deserving of courtesy and respect. Try very, very hard to grow up. The world will be a better place for those efforts.

Take the dam mouth swab and blood tests for all three of you, Trig, you, Ms. Palin, and Bristol. Let us see for sure who the mom is, or are you scared you will be found to be caught in yet another brainless lie, one you can't wink your way out of?

    Truly,

I wish S. Palin would shut her mouth. We have so many problems in our world right now – I do not care if she's a little (or a lot) pee ood with the media.

Stop trying to bring the focus back to you, get down to what we pay you to do (God help us all) by doing the best by your State of Alaska.

The problem with Ms. Palin is not that she didn't get to call the shots, it was that she didn't have the intelligence once the shots were called upon her. I listened to her interviews AFTER the election on November 4, and she was every bit as bad as she was BEFORE election day. She has run on sentences, and does not make sense. As far as seeing Russia from Alaska, of course you can, the far western coast of Alaska is just miles across the dateline from the far eastern coast of Russia; however, it is not visible from where Sarah Palin lives. And no, New Yorkers, i.e. city dwellers, and Alaskans are not even on the same wavelength, never mind bearing a likeness to one another; we could be from two different planets, becaUse it is not likely we would have elected anyone like Sarah Palin as our CEO, though we have been known to elect a few duds.

Atta girl! Keep fightin' to stay relevent. On behalf of Dems everywhere, I'd just like to say 'Thank you.' I'd like to see you in every major race for the rest of my life. You're one of the best things (beside the Presidency and control of Congress) we have going for us!

Palin's responses to the issue about "bloggers who lie" really convinces me that she is truely out of touch with the political landscape of America. Really Sarah? You are surprised by this?

A newsflash for ya; this is life in 2008/9. The internet is FULL of people who lie, and people who choose to spend their time blogging about politics are, by and large, the worst offenders. Here's another newsflash Sarah; it's not going to stop anytime soon.

This woman is a nitwit – the percentage of people who tear up during the playing of the national anthem at sporting events is very very low, and that is not an indication of a lack of patriotism, love of God or country, or any other spin that these out-of-power nation-wreckers care to jam down the throats of the vast minority of Americans who still buy this nonsense. These same people who, most probably, still tear up when they hear the national anthem

"decisions for ya"? She can't even say "you"? For pete's sake, Palin, quit trying to stay in the news. "You can see Russia from Alaska" was taken out of context? I believe you said, in response to what was your foreign policy experience, "Well, I can see Russia from Alaska". How was that taken out of context? But my biggest question is, WHY is the media giving you such air time? Go to Israel and be a reporter like Joey the Plumber.
