Palin slams 'bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”

The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”

"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.

“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."

But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."

The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."

Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.

Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.

"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'

Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."

    let her whine.
the more she does the less likely she'll have any chance in 4 years.

and to those of you who think she is intelligent...
please shed some light on this for me because i haven't heard one sinle shred of intelligence come out of her mouth.

C'mon...enough of Palin. Please. Only in the U.S. does someone like this become a state governor and draw so much attention. It's nauseating. Really. ENOUGH.

If she doesn't want to hear what the public has to say, then how on earth would she make a good VP or president? Don't they work for the people?

Too bad that she doesn't like what we have to say. Put on your big girl panties, Palin, and deal with it. If it was up to me, you wouldn't even be governor, much less president.

Oh, and I saw your interview where you tried to defend the "what books do you read?" question from Katie Couric. Well, we do want to know, and it's NOT a hard question. It reflects your interest / knowledge of the world...you know, something you would need to have if you are running the country. We already had an 8 year failure at that...Why the struggle? Oh, yeah, and you need to be able to form a sentence too....

I agree with SA, just go away!

Palin, who told lie after lie, smear after smear, and innuendo after innuendo is now complaining about bloggers who do the same. Sounds like justice to me.

Palin was PERFECTLY OK with taking advantage of all the lies flying around (and still flying around) over the internet to try to besmirch Barack Obama's character during the election. But now, when she is confronted with the lies that are aimed at her, she finally finds the need to call them what they really are – just lies.

If you now want us to have any sympathy for you, Sarah Palin, it would help if you had shown a greater respect for "the truth" as it applies to all of us, and not just your own self-interest. I, for one, agree with you that the lies about your grand-daughter's parentage are repugnant – just as repugnant as the lies about Obama "palling around with terrorists".

There is something called integrity, and it is why I supported Obama this time around. It has been missing for far too long from American government, and it is good to get it back.

america is not yet prepared to accept a woman leader. look what they did to ms clinton and ms ferraro. they all got the worst critism ever thrown to candidates of the highest position in america. Its like anybody but women. However, just like the black people it will come to an end. KEEP FIGHTING,SARAH!

hOW come many were said about the remark of Ms. Palens father when informed that Ms. Palen was being chosen to be the running mate of Sen John Macain. So much has been said about ""Holy Cow"". But nothing has been sa id of Ms. Obama's "For the first time in my adult life i respect america. What? And where was she staying and enjoying life before Mr. Obama got the nod?

For everybody saying they wish she would just go away. Why you would you want that?

Palin is so entertaining! I love hearing what she has to say . And the more she opens her mouth, the less likely she is to win an election in this country... I want more Palin interviews, the more the better

I can't decide whether this woman is brilliant or ignorant. My guess is the latter but here we are still reading stories months after her star should have burned out so she at least deserves the benefit of the doubt. She's still in the spotlight and as long as someone is willing to point a camera at her she will continue to be. Mark my words, next week when this story is an afterthought she will give an interview where she complains that people are still questioning her about the clothes. No new news but it will get people talking about her again.

Sarah please do yourself and the rest of us a huge favor. Go away. Nobody is interested in anything you have to say.

If using your family as a way to stay in the news then you are the biggest hypocrite of them all.

    GO AWAY BAD WOMAN!!

Come on now, enough is enough! Your 15 minutes in the spotlight are over. Don't you have enought to keep you busy with a new grandbaby, a wedding to plan, your family and the state of Alaska?

I'm going to give Palin the benefit of the doubt here. When she said that when her water broke in Texas a month early while carrying a child determined to have Down's Syndrome, instead of doing the intelligent thing and going to a hospital in Texas, she instead hopped on an 8 hour flight to Alaska while in labor, thereby potentially endangering the baby and putting the plane in the position of having to make an emergency landing. She says she's telling the truth about that story, so I'll believe her.

I second the comment from the person who said that Palin sure was silent as hell about "anonymous bloggers" who were putting forth the theory that Obama was a sleeper Muslim illegal alien terrorist commie. Guess an internet that smears one's opponents is acceptable to Ms. Palin.

She continues to prove, on a daily basis, how lucky we are as a nation (and world) to have escaped THAT bullet. For someone who thinks women in politics shouldn't whine, she is the CHIEF whiner amongst them.

So, instead of saying "for the ump-teenth time! YES, TRIG is MY baby!", she says "uh.. well.. ah.. also, you know, I think I don't like to want, also, to you know, play that game. Also".

and this intellectual behemoth wonders why there's still confusion. (I can use big words, she doesn't know what they mean, but presumes we're attacking her anyway..so it will mean to her what the sarcasm implies anyway!)

It must be nice to be an extreme left or right winger nowadays. You get to vent all your bile, hatred, bigotry and life's frustrations on the web. Did I say "all"? I don't think so. You seem to have an infinite store of these things.

If we're all wishing she goes away, why are we taking the time to not just read what she says, but also putting our 2c in.

Her personality evokes controversy. People want to know about her just like they want to know about other celebreties who have trouble with the real world.
