Palin slams 'bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”

The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”

"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.

“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."

But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."

The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."

Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.

Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.

"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'

Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. You are wasting your time. I can see Russia on a Google satellite map, but does that make me an authority? No. Actually, the continued problems are with the Republican Party and your friends at the American Enterprise Institute like Bill Kristol who fell for your blather and your halibut cheeks, and now all of you are completely discredited. A word to the wise. While I find you very amusing, sort of like a black comedy sketch, you’re going to wear out your welcome with the people who support you if you keep giving interviews. By the time of the next election you will be as forgotten as any other flash-in-the-pan. People who would support a candidate with your credentials will have gone on to the next shallow sensation by summer. BTW, running a state is not like being the CEO of a company. States are usually not for profit entities to serve the people. Look at your friend George W who claimed to be a CEO and see where he brought us. Also CEOs usually have some education and experience and can speak clearly enough to be understood.

  2. LuvyaSarah!

Wow! The hate expressed in these comments is a poor reflection on those who make the comments. I never heard Sarah Palin describe herself as perfect, or some "holier than though" individual. These comments reflect the knee-jerk reaction people have to those who are not ashamed of their faith in Christ. The most popular governor in the country who exposed corruption in her own party, who did not seek the job of the vice presidency, and she was attacked repeatedly for not being perfect. I for one respect she and her family, mistakes and all (those whose family has no warts please feel free to throw the first stone) and thank her for her willingness to face the hate and lies with courage. I hope she can put this behind her and keep climbing the ladder because our country needs people like her. Great job Sarah! Many more people love you and your family for the energy you brought to a floundering campaign. It is easy for those who have never achieved what you have achieved, nor ever will, to sit back and spew hate and negativity. Those people have always existed and always will, but consider the source. You have been an incredible success in your young 44 years and I expect great things from you in the future. You are a winner and very blessed person of action. Keep up your terrific work! You make so many Americans proud!

I am so proud of Sarah Palin! She's a True-Blue American, instead of being a Blue-Blooded American. She's a self-made woman, being elected to the office of Mayor and Governor without having a famous last name like Caroline Kennedy does. I never realized there were so many women-haters in this country until Sarah ran for office, but I see them frothing at the mouth at the thought of a smart, pretty woman being in charge. Sarah didn't make her fortune like the Kennedy's did (running alcohol in from Canada during prohibition), she actually earned it herself legally. She knows what it is like to work for a living, unlike someone like, say, Caroline Kennedy.

Sarah – you've got my vote in 2012!

What about the actions of Palin in attacking Obama during the campaign as being unAmerican and "palling around with terrorists". Talking about being "Clueless" ala the Alicia Siverstone movie. This woman is pathethic and Tin Fey and SNL were far to easy on her.

Dear CNN: It is considered the civilized thing, when one sees someone who is obviously mentally deranged, howling incessantly at the moon and raving with paranoia, to quietly call mental health professionals to come deal with the poor soul. It is unconscionable to film that pathetic person, or print their every utterance, and to continue to hold them up to ridicule. Such a person is obviously unable to help him- or herself ... as is the case with that marginally functional moron Sarah Palin.

I appeal to CNN's better nature ... please stop covering her every drooling utterance....

Sarah says there's something wrong with journalists. Maybe the problem with some journalists is they went to 6 or 7 schools to get their degree and only just squeaked thru meeting the qualifications. You know, sort of like Sarah herself. Which is another reason why it's so clearly obvious that she was totally unqualified to be VP.

Sara, the whole world doesn't revolve around you. Your an idiot!!!! My opinion is that you are falling into depression. The huge crowds and spotlight that once adorned you are now gone FOREVER!!! Get over it for god sakes. Here's a news flash. Barack Obama is going to be our new president. Your chance is over........Govern your state for God's sakes and take care of the brew you have at home. You have enough issues with your family.

Speak up Sarah! All the liberals that have responded by telling you to shut must not realize that you are only responding to stupid questions from liberal sources. Liberals keep the fire burning by putting Sarah in the limelight by making statements like a broken record...over & over again. Liberals are the ones that need to grow up and move on. Sarah in 2012!

Palin needs to stop trying to equate bloggers with members of the media. The claims that Trig was not her child never amounted to much, especially in light of her daughter's real pregnancy. Just because a small number of bored, clueless bloggers kept repeating something that was obviously false in no reason to attack the mainstream media.

By the same logic, just because some clueless VP candidate kept repeating things that were obviously false is no reason to attack the GOP.
