[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”
The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”
"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.
“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."
But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."
The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."
Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.
Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.
"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'
Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."
Wackoo, Wasilla hilibily.....em .. em...
I finally get it.
The Republican strategy for 2012 is to pay for MSM airtime to keep Palin in the headlines, in the hopes that Americans will break down in sure frustration and boredom, and recognize that she really is the next great hope of the GOP. In business, they call it promoting a person to their highest level of incompetence.
These comments provide excellent support to her remark. Let's see: Shut Up! Hatemonger! Hypocrit! Hillbilly family! Narcissistic fruitcake! Uneducated woman! Your an idiot (sic, my favorite!), Queen of Lies! Whiney little hypocrit! Promotes stupidity and suffering.
Hmmm, none of these charges are ever substantiated by any facts or examples, but rather is just the "whining" of looney libs. The libs get very frightened and threatened when a capable conservative begins to gain popularity, and then they grab their favorite (only) tool – personal destruction and ridicule. They can't see the folly and hypocracy of their own arguments when they turn around and then support someone totally unqualified, inexperienced and inarticulate, such as Caroline Schlossberg. It os quite pathetic when you can't participate in a reasoned debate, but can only squeal. A symptom of decades of failed liberal education policies...
I think we should step back and try to understand why we are so mad at this woman and why we (and the press) get the secret "car accident" thrill when she goes on again and again.
She represents to a lot of us the incompetency that our political process produces. She also represents the seemingly indelible polarization that political parties (and the national media) have infused into the election atmosphere.
And we don't like it. And we don't know how to change it. So we look at Palin and see George W. Bush in heels: limited in intelligence, stubborn in ideology and absent of humility. We (most of us) wouldn't have picked either (or Harry Reid, or Giuliani, or Cheney, or Pelosi, etc.) to run a neighborhood bake sale, let alone our political processes. Yet there she is– the governor of a state. How could someone so completely unqualified obtain that position?
So instead of just watching her slow motion train wreck over and over again, we should channel our animosity into the work we individually need to do to account for what are really our own mistakes. After all, the Bush travesty, the environmental tragedy, the economic calamity are very much our own faults because we bought the lines of B.S. we were fed and just kept consuming into obesity.
Ultimately, WE'VE convinced the Republicans to become the ridiculous political party they've become through acquiescence and denial, beginning with our unfortunately kind views of Reagan's administration. Or do we forget that his administration dismantled environmental protections, deregulated those industries now seeking bailouts, fostered the currently egregious income gap, sold weapons to Iran, and sold WMD to Iraq. And the Democrats will probably do the same over the next twenty years.
So instead of pummeling Palin with disrespect (which, I know, she pretty much deserves) we should be working on changing the tone of discourse and petitioning the media to do the same. Because right now, criticizing Palin is like criticizing the cook in charge of the buffet on the Titanic.
Why did the media spend more time investigating Palin than they did Obama? Palin's life was an open book. Her past was well known and well documented. She had a long, easily verifiable, bland history.
Obama's past is murky at best, yet the mainstream media did very little original research into his background. More time was spent on Palin smoking MJ (which was legal in Alaska at the time) than Obama's cocaine usage and/or dealing. More stories were out there regarding the Alaska Ind Party and Palin that Obama's frequent Marxist/Socialist connections. Palin was labeled "unqualified" to be VP when the only thing Obama ever ran were his campaigns.
You people have allowed yourselves to be manipulated by your peers and by the media.
BB
Spiro Agnew said alot of things that sounded similiar......... he couldn't see Russia from his house though
Why doesn't everyone start sending emails to her office. I know she won't read any because she is too busy whining but we can overwhelm her offices 20 megabyte server and dial-up internet.
This from the woman who accused Obama of "palling around with terrorists" and who made a variety of other disgusting remarks in a brutal race.
This is a woman desperate for attention who won't let go of the spotlight. It is pathetic. Can we please make her go away and move on? WE DON'T CARE!
Sarah, get a clue. The only one perpetuating the media coverage is you. Please go away and leave the rest of us in peace. Good ridance.
What is most pathetic are all of you that say on one hand "just go away, no one cares about you, you are not newsworthy" BUT on the other hand you took time from your life to read the article and post a blog. You are the people that are keeping her in the news.
Did any of you bother to watch the only vice presidential debate??
Meanwhile, Joe Biden doesn't know how many letters it takes to spell JOBS...What year the stock market crashed, who was President at the time and that people were not watching television in 1929! Good ole Joe even invited folks to "Katy's Restaurant" in Wilmington so that they could have a beer with locals and listen to the problems they face...just as good ole Joe does. UHHH turned out Katy's restaurant closed down almost 20 years ago. AND Sarah Palin is THE idiot???
I just threw up.
She will never be president because she is too polarizing. But if she wants to be part of something special nationally then she should resign gracefully and do a lot of homework on the issues, domestic and foreign. Even her fellow republicans are saying the same thing. And I'm not even a Palin supporter but that's what she needs to do. Disappear and come back as a knowledgeable person.
Did she really sell a plane on Ebay? And she has the nerve to call other people pathetic liers.
I know things are slow right now, but Palin? Really? Surely there's a small dog who saved a drowning blind man somewhere you could report on...
OMG why are we still talking about her? She is not relevant and really she never was! We all knew she didn't have a shot in Hell at being VP. People didn't fall for her then and they don't fall for her now. CNN and the rest of the media should stop calling her. Give it up. We need to look towards the future and focus on the next four years and how we can get out of the messes we are currently in. Time to let Palin go in peace, media.
Looks like the pit bull with lipstick on her face is more of a chihuahua with mud on her face...hey Sarah, a little whine with that sauteed moose?
"Joe six pack" needs to give PP, (Poor Palin), five of his beers, and a crying towel. Here is a woman who lies like hell about other people she runs against, and yet whines like hell when someone makes any comments she feels are inaccurate about her?
I won't quote the anecdote about the kitchen, but we all know what it is. The USA is not comprised of Alaska alone. And when PP runs for national office, there are far more intelligent viewers at a national level. All the cute "I betchas", winks and smiles, etc, only go so far.
You Palin-Bashers need medication! Please make an appointment immediately with your physician and/or therapist so you can get help for your maladies. For anyone to HATE someone as much as you seem to hate the Governor (and any of us like her) is really sad and worrisome. Do you realize that many millions of voters in America chose McCain/Palin. What? Do you think we are all deranged? No, we saw quality. Please don’t lord Obama on us and give up your quest to demean Palin, McCain, and anyone else who disagrees with your ideas. It is our country too and we intend to stay. Not only stay, but fight for what we believe in and for the future of our country.
I'm sure this dingbat doesn't even know what a blog is. Yet she whines about it presumably because the bloggers are in fact truth-tellers. Bored? Probably, Sarah. You bore us all to tears by this juncture. Pathetic? Pot, kettle, careful about names. Just shut up and go away already. The more you whine, blather and blubber, the less likely you are to have anyone interested in your political career. So, on the other hand, hey, keep it up, Barbie. Your current behavior is the surest way to make SURE you never end up on a national ticket again! We prefer at least a little dignity and maturity in our elected officials. Will Rodgers' advice was meant for you: "Never miss a good opportunity to Shut Up."
She's a fool. What do you expect? Ignorance is bliss.
This has got to end. Really, with no facetiousness, there should not be reports on every person Palin slams. Am I being unreasonable by asking this? Can CNN at least maybe put out a statement as to why stories like these are being posted? Maybe I just don't get it.
End it, pretty please. The next time we should even hear about her is if she does something stupid or stupendous in Alaska that affects the homeland or if she runs for the Republican primary Senate seat against Sen. Murkowski.
What part of "go away, we don't care" does she not understand????
Boy for someone who says you just have to "let it go" she's having a really hard time letting it go.
CNN – the most trusted in NEWS!!!! This woman is not news.
Hasn't she learned yet that less is more. Shut your mouth already and go help your kid apply for medicaid and food stamps.
