[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”
The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”
"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.
“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."
But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."
The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."
Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.
Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.
"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'
Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."
(sigh)... another day, another public whine from Governor "Thanks but no thanks". Must be a slow news day...
7 days till the end of the Bush administration.
Ya know these hics (what up Joe T. Plumber) will go away if we stop paying attention to them. It should have been obvious months ago that they don't know anything. They're still around because we fail to ignore ignorance. Sarah Palin's attempts at substance when asked a question on camera is the definition of pathetic.
From her perspective, the only thing worse than bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers writing about her is bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers not writing about her. (Sorry, Oscar.)
I cannot believe that CNN would publish all the netigative blogs you call them. Were there any pro Paelin ones . Being Vet of WW2 I Believe that Cnn was unfair during The Campaign, If they were doing this during WW2 ,Ibelieve we would have seen a Nazi OR Communist Europe . How about Giving Every bit of News a fair Shake...
I guess female liberation has come full circle in the US now that we have our own dumb, lying, sleezy poor excuse for a politician. I only wish our truly wonderful gender role models were able to get the press this "appeal to the worst in us" woman is still getting, months after her 15 minutes of fame should have run it's course.
On the other hand, Palin and her family, do offer a "Jerry Springer" like diversion from the problems we are facing from the Republican's reckless running of the government into our current abyss.
And, oh by the way, Ms. Palin, the reason it matters that Trigg is your grandchild rather than your child is because you insist on thwarting sex education in schools while demonizing gays. You are the one who parades your children and their exploits in front of us, using them for politcal fodder.
You can tell she is not used to criticism. She has very thin skin and every little word leaves a great wound on her ego. You can also tell that she is the sort who can never admit she is wrong, even to herself. She is always right. Everyone else is always wrong.
On another note, someone at CNN has a really big crush on her and can't stop taking notice of her every little movement or word.
please stop reporting what she says and she will go away
she has no credibility or values except blaming others.
She could not be more on the money and CNN is right square in the middle of it – honoring Obama's request to not bring family (his wife) in to it and then rabidly going after Palin as if the know their audience is so stupid they won't notice the difference! Journalism is dead and CNN reflects that 100%.
Is this her way of keeping some sort of attention on her?
as opposed to bored, anonymous Governors that have nothing better to do than hold interviews and press conferences. Nice work picking a local paper this time. I'm sure they didn't ask you any tough questions like "what color is the sky"
Bravo Palin.
Somebody please show Sarah the open window!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yah know the window she is always looking for. Don't go away mad Sarah.....just go away!
I'm amazed at the number of people wondering with Palin will "go away". How can she go away when the one-sided biased liberal media keeps shoving microphones in her face? Or when her local paper calls to quadruple check the natural mother of her son? Give me a break. If you want her to go away... write your editors – we don't have journalists and reporters anymore – they all write and report their "opinion", their editorial.
The only thing that keeps me at peace is when you liberals call into a conservative radio show and can't even answer 1 question about what Obama has accomplished in politics.
Why are we still giving any attention, media or otherwise, to this woman? Stay in Alaska and rule there.
SARAH I'M NOT A LIAR. I TELL IT AS YOU PUT ITOUT. OK. BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU SAY. IT'S NOT WHAT GOES INTO A MAN THAT RUINS HIM OR HER,IT'S WHAT COMES OUT AND WHAT IS COMING OUT FROM YOU IS TRASH.
must be that barracuda in her that won't shut up!
If this is the most important thing she has to do after "LOSING" and if this is the most newsworthy item CNN can publish, nobody can save us! Sarah is pathetic and it would not surprise me if she is not mentally unbalanced.
Real leaders don't whine. Real leaders don't spend time addressing silly little blogger issues. Did Obama jump up and down in frustration when he was accused of being a Muslim, a terrorist, gay (yes, someone accused him of being gay), and a host of other silliness? Nope. Palin can't seem to understand that the more she complains about non-issues, the more she becomes a non-leader.
Sure, there are those among Americans who, to this day, think Palin is a wonderful woman, intelligent, and savvy. Those people are just as incredibly stupid as Palin.
Palin knows that her only hope is to demonize the press and make herself appear to be the victim. She's too ignorant to understand that without the press on her side, her political aspirations are a waste of everybody's time. Lately, she has chosen to make a big issue out of "Trig" because it makes it look like the press is picking on a helpless infant. She says, "Go after me, but leave my family alone." Well, she's the one who keeps bringing it up. What we're seeing here is a person who is incapable of doing the damage control necessary to repair her own image. The smart thing would have been to focus on her job as governor for a few months and help the public forget what a mess she made of the campaign. Instead, she keeps trying to insert herself into the news day.
BE A HOCKEY MOM AND STAY IN ALASKA.
She wants us to see the cross she made and is hanging on.I feel so sorry for her.Shes getting a nice job as anBig Oil lobbyist after her term is up though, she has alot of experience taking their money.
And this is the woman that wanted to be VP of the USA, and some people really, really wanted her to be also. Americans consider yourselves lucky she is back in Alaska and not representing your country in the world.
Palin is dangerous and yet still a joke, but you CNN need to stop giving her so much coverage. Granted, she's fair game and juicy fodder, but she's irritating, and even her quoted words in print grates on the nerves like chalk on a blackboard.
Shame on you John McCain for inflicting this woman on the human race.
wasn't she a journalism major in college? the irony must be lost on her, but it sure isn't on me.
Palin it was incredible that you boarded a plane being in labor. eight hour plane???????????? what were you thinking???? if you looking for answers..........is only one, poor judgment.
Personally I think the Republican Party is nothing but a bunch of pranksters who're trying to see how stupid a candidate they can pick for President without the public noticing.
George Bush was simply a joke they played on the US and I'm sure most of them didn't think they could get away with it. Imagine their astonishment when he actually won.. twice.
And you know one of them is now sitting at the back of the room saying "I think we can go worse..." How else do you explain the possibility of Palin running in 2012?
CNN I beg you please make it go away. No more Palin. She is more annoying than the energizer bunny. The only time we want to read or see anything about Palin would be in the pages of PLAYBOY or Field & Stream!!
