[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/12/08/art.palinop.gi.jpg caption="Palin has given a steady stream of interviews since Election Day."](CNN) - Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”
The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”
"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me....I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.
“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."
But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."
The former Republican vice presidential candidate said again she regretted not taking a greater leadership role during the campaign season. "If I were giving advice to myself back on the day my candidacy was announced, I'd say, Tell the campaign that you'll be callin' some of the shots,” she said. “Don't just assume that they know you well enough to make all your decisions for ya. Let them know that you're the CEO of a state, you're forty-four years old, you've got a lot of great life experience that can be put to good use as a candidate."
Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.
Update: In an Anchorage Daily News column published last week, the paper's editor said the only questions reporters there had asked about Trig's birth came when the paper undertook a project to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding the event, but that they had abandoned the effort because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.
"I don't believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity," wrote the editor in an e-mail sent to Palin and reprinted on the paper's blog. "In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the 'coverup.'
Later, he added: "...So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press 'outrages'? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know."
Is this coming from the same woman who claims that she said "Thanks, but no Thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere? It scares me to think that she could have actually been our next Vice President. Thank Goodness!!!!!
Who is this Palin lady? Why is it I have forgotten or don't remember her but the stories continue to be written about someone so insignificant.
Cnn..Please don't waste anymore time with this loser Palin...lets move on to bigger things.
CNN Please post my entry..thank you.
Dear Mrs. Sarah Palin;
There's this old saying that comes to mind:
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
Angie January 13th, 2009 2:37 pm ET
SORRY. DRUG DEALER.
=================================================
Now she is a drug dealer. Yeah, the left never spins things.
Angie,
Ignorant people like you will end this country.
Sure Sarah, blame issues with your credibility and your record on the media. It is time to realize the truth; that you were utterly unprepared for public office south of the Canadian border.
Interesting that there is so much focus here on her campaign gaffs, presumably to refute the obviously biased savaging she took at the hands of the media and blogosphere. It's called the argument of the straw man. Argue that she made gaffes and mistakes, perhaps that she's simply not qualified, thereby proving that the media and blogosphere were fair and balanced in their reporting. Ignore the fact that the press delved into her personal life in an almost unprecedented way, asked her pointed questions no other candidate was asked and dwelled on her lack of experience while promoting a highly inexperienced presidential candidate. I didn't like her as a candidate, but the lack of balance and extreme rationalization in these comments is amazing.
I have the world map in front of me. Guess I will run for president in 2012.
SHUT UP DO YOUR JOB AS GOVENOR. YOUR HOOKED ON THE LIMELIGHT YOU OPPROTUNISTIC HIPPOCRITE.
yeah... palin should go away..... because of stupidity?
yeah!! lets get someone else in the white house this is smart... like mr clinton? someone so smart they will desecrate the oval house with adultery? someone who's excuse is "well it depends on your definition of the word "is"? someone who has to "lie" and say i did not have sexual relations with that woman. YEAH!! Lets get someone smart in there. Liberals seem to have such a short memory.
The way things are going, she won't win re-election in Alaska
Please, please, please Sarah Palin go away forever. We're begging you. You have nothing to add, you are not interesting, and except maybe for a few bored housewives nobody cares what you have to say, what you think, or who the fathers of your children or grandchildren are. And to the media, how long do you continue to stick a microphone in front of someone's face when they have absolutely nothing of interest to give you? Please, put us out of our misery. Help Palin go away by leaving her alone.
From Palin's own lips:
“Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."
An example of someone who not only refuses to "let that go", but insists on standing by her utterly imbecilic remarks. Russia is only visible from an island off the coast of Alaska– an island which Sarah Palin has NEVER set foot on.
Sarah, I for one believe that Trig is your son. I also believe that you did and will use anyone including your parents, husband, and children to try and promote your future in politics. If I remember your bio...you knew that Trig was going to have Down's syndrome. With that knowledge you flew down to Texas to give a speech at the Governor's meeting. Before your speech began your amniotic fluid started to leak. Since this was your 5th child you should have known that labor would not be for away. But you stayed until you could deliver your speech and instead of going to a hospital you flew another 8 hours back to Alaska. As a mother you were more intested in yourself than the health of your unborn child. Please stop thinking of more ways to blame anyone but you for your loss and go home and be the mother you haven't been in quite awhile.
Mccain won't even support her candidacy in 2012... "nuff said"
You have to be some kind of stupid to think Ms Palin is any kind of national leader – she's comedic relief – nothing more.
(BTW, to those who do think she's "a breath of fresh air" or a potential leader...you need to reevaluate your standards – being vertical and breathing just doesn't cut it.)
Keep it up Sarah!! I hope you get so far under their skin that they scratch themselves bloody! You guessed it!! I'm not a liberal!
I can't really defend Palin, but my comment is about as close to a defense that you can get. I am very glad that she showed up when she did. There was actually a chance she could be our vice president in a few days. After what we have been through with W and his "elections" I think it shows that at least a majority of Americans have learned our lesson. Unfortunately, there were many Americans that voted for that team. Just think how bad off America would be if that had happened. That would be a clear indication that America would never be the same with right winged nuts in control of the country for yet 4 more years. It shows that America is healing after 8 horrendous years. Let her run all she wants. I hope she's their next presidential candidate. Unless she's running for president of Alaska she will lose. She probably won't go away until she does go through several losses.
I read this article because I needed a bit of a laugh today and that is what it was good for. It's not newsworthy, it's pure comedic value. She does need to just go away, but the laugh I got today did put a smile on my face.
My wife and I are Republicans. Because Palin would have been a heartbeat away from the presidency, we checked into her record. Not an easy task, mind you. You have to research lawsuits; budgetary cuts and increases, and earmark requests – both for Wasilla and the state of Alaska; position papers and articles written by her special counsel; interview footage of Palin, debate coverage, speeches, and a host of other things. Keep in mind - this is documentation that tracked her record before she was tapped by McCain to be his running mate. Anyway, our findings weren’t good – kind of scary, actually. What truly amazes me is that people in the media just weren’t asking the right questions.
In the final analysis, Ms. Palin drove away more people from the McCain/Palin ticket than she attracted by the time Election Day rolled around. Had McCain handled his campaign differently, and not behaved so erratically during the advent of the financial crisis, he just might have won the election. The GOP had better come up with better leaders, or suffer even further attrition until only the uneducated extremists and religious nut-cakes masquerading as Christians are left. We are cycling downward into a third-rate nation. America deserves better.
I really even hate to comment on Palin, due to the fact she will only show up on yet another article. Palin needs to gie it up...her 15 minutes was over long ago. the people in this country were not then and still are not impressed with her. she is egotistical and pathetic. the state of Alaska got a real eye opener and she best be getting busy trying to keep her position as govenor, as i do think she will lose in any attempt to stay seated.
Please stop reporting what this lady says. It does not matter unless you plaster it all over our screens!
She is so whiny. If she truly wants to run for president (and be the GOP's sacrificial lamb) she needs to shut her mouth and go away for four years. Doesn't she realize that the country, and the world, are not very accepting of whiny women? Put your big-girl panties on, deal with it, shut up and go away!
WHO CARES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
'bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie'
Funny, coming from one of the most brazen liars I've ever seen. Hypocrite.
"The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day"
Sarah to media: "I hate you. I NEED you!" Hypocrite.
She's proving that McCain's people were right to not let her talk to the media.
