Americans want Dems in charge of Congress

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/22/art.reidpelosi.gi.jpg caption="A new poll says Americans are happy Democrats are in control of Congress."](CNN) - Congressional Republicans’ big pitch late in the 2008 campaign was the need for a GOP-controlled Congress to check a President Obama - but a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll Thursday suggests most Americans think the country is better off with Democrats in charge of both chambers.

According to the new survey, 56 percent of Americans say Democrats should control Congress, while 31 percent say Republicans should.

Meanwhile, the same survey found the country divided on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: 39 percent of Americans approve of the job she’s doing, while 37 percent disapprove. A third of Americans have no opinion on the California Democrat.

The poll surveyed 1,245 adults January 12-15, and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

This is crazy. We need a balanced government! We had the blank check effect the past and look where it got us. CHECKS AND BALANCE FOLKS AND THAT WON'T WORK WITH A DEMONCRAT PRESIDENT AND A DEMONCRAT CONGRESS! Get a clue here!

If Pelosi got that high of a rating the poll must have been taken in California
I live in California - and Pelosi - the ultimate Congressional traitor - will be OUT come the next election - if she has the temerity to run again! And Dianne Feinstein better watch out, too.

I want the Dems in charge of congress.. but I want Pelosi and Ried out of there. We need a fresh start and those 2 are no better than Bush himself. I wish Obama and the dems well but I wish we could of gotten rid of those 2.

This is funny because on other programs polls lean the other way, and another poll said this, and another poll said that and on, and on, and on..............................
News people. Not polls, not opinion's. News. Report the News.
    Remember journalism.
I have to admit I'm part of the problem here because I keep coming back for more, and it looks like I enjoy the sight, but I keep coming back to be amazed at the direction of media in this country. Have you really listened to what the general public really is saying about you guys. Put the pen's and pads down, turn off the cameras, and shut off the microphones. And listen to the people.
You guys are worse than government because you used to be with the people, now the people stand alone.
    Remember we the people?

Let's give Congress at least two years under President Obama before we throw them out...but, make no mistake, if this Congress doesn't shape up I think anyone with over 8 years in the House or 12 years in the Senate should be sent packing, no matter what party they claim.

I can't believe you Republicans are in denial in reaction to this. Did the election not convey the message loud and clear enough to you guys? This isn't a "center right" nation any more. It's over.

They will think differently. Once the left has successfully downgraded our economy and a vast majority of Americans have lost a good portion of earned wealth. We will have no choice but to succumb to the will of left controlled Congress. Then, we will all realize that we have been setup for this great fall into a Socialist version of Marxism.

Oh, come now... is anyone surprised that the Country wants Dems in charge? Bush is the root of the evil that we are paying for now. Repub dominated Congress voted in lock step with Bush. Obama had a 86% approval rating last I heard!

What would make anyone think that Americans would want any thing more from the Repubs? The only way I can see that is too imagine someone who wishes to have us completely destroyed? Now besides fanatical terrorists who could image... oh, wait... that would be the Bush administration... they weren't finished with their black hearted rape of our Nation!
