Paterson to announce Senate replacement Friday

(CNN) - New York Mayor David Paterson is set to announce Friday his choice to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate.

According to the governor's office, Paterson will make the announcement at 12:00 p.m. ET Friday.

Caroline Kennedy, considered the frontrunner for the post, formally withdrew her name from consideration Wednesday night, citing personal reasons.

I'm sure we'll get about a hundred more breaking news statements on this one.

It's good to know there are no wars, no soldiers dying, no hunger, no homeless, no economic problems --– only this is newsworthy. Oh, and the news about the the newsroom. WOW

Will the media please start acting like responsible, professional adults about this story instead of gossipy, fact-starved, ADD-afflicted school children? Geeeeesh! Give it up already, will ya? Just wait for the FACTS!!!

    Oh how rich!

DEMOCRAT Caroline Kennedy, wealthy heiress, has tax problems, nanny problems, and marriage issues.

DEMOCRAT Blago – selling Obama's senate seat.

DEMCOCRAT Obama nominates DEMOCRAT Geithner, a tax-evading politician, to be Secretary of the Treasury.

DEMOCRAT Hillary Clinton is affirmed Secretary of State inspite of unchecked and unregulated LARGE foreign donations to her husbands library.

.... And it's only day 2 of the Obama Presidency!!

    BHAAA HAAA HAHAAAAHAAAA

Thank You Patterson for ignoring Carolines claims to the throne. There are far too many greater qualified and have been proven loyal to New York then Kennedy has ever given canidates out there.

Pick someone with brains over someone with pedegree.

Well, if not an incompetent Kennedy, then an incompetent Cuomo will do. Dems only know royalty and dynasty.

Let's hope it won't be Kirsten Gillibrand, daughter of an Albany lobbyist and lawyer for the tobacco industry. She has more conflicts of interest than Bill Clinton in a Turkmenistan steam bath.

Patterson is an idiot who, like Blago savoring his power, dragged out this process far longer than he needed to. Today it is Caroline, yesterday it is someone else? How long does it take to make up his mind? I think that Caroline was treated shabbily by the governor and the press, who gave her the Sarah Palin treatment. Why? Cuz she is a Kennedy? Well, the Kennedys have given a lot to this country, and are still giving. Behind the scenes, I think it was the Clinton people who led the charge against her as payback for her and her uncle's endorsement of Obama, without which I do not believe he would have become President. Cuomo is stuck with his "shuck and jive" comment in reference to Obama, so I don't think he will be Mr. Popularity on Penn. Ave. I think Caroline felt she should have been appointed, been in Washington when Teddy had his seizure. I think she is angry, fed up with the indignity and lack of respect from the governor's office. She is surely qualified, everyone agrees. She doesn't need the seat, we needed her. Since she vetted the VP's, I don't believe the crap about her vetting problems. I do blame the pundits and NYC pols for their mean-spiritedness and lack of foresight. Anyway, Patterson looks like a jerk now, and he is toast.
