Geithner apologized to the committee during his confirmation hearing Wednesday for his past failure to pay more than $34,000 in self-employment taxes between 2001 and 2004.

What an example for our youth who decided that their vote would be for real change.

It is such an easy argument to make, one that nobody can resist to make.

If you don't pay your taxes, you should not be Treasury Secretary.

    No.

Cut the crap, this doesn't disqualify him – it is merely a convenient argument people decide to make, not one they truly believe in. He paid his taxes back, it was not intentional.

A totally vague argument against Geithner – there are others things we should worry about him like if he was in the room or if he contributed ideas that led to the financial bailouts of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac.

He's going to get confirmed, and we have to have confidence in him.

You have GOT to be kidding me.....

We have a tax evader RUNNING THE IRS???

And Obama is ok with this.
Unreal. Simply unreal. I heard him say last weekend that this "wasn't a big deal", "it was a simple mistake", "tax code is difficult to understand". Uh. NO.

Bad move. REALLY bad move. Even my 2nd grade son knows better than this!

While I think it's nice that some conservative blow-hards have learned to navigate this website, I'd like to remind you that T.G. is probably one of the most qualified people for this job.

This is what we need. So, get over it.

All I have to say is this:
If it was a Republican, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE would be up in arms that the man who is supposed to run the TREASURY balked on paying his taxes for nearly a decade. Ok, so he paid them when it was caught, but please, this is hypocrisy at its best.
If he "didn't realize," then he is unqualified to be Treasury Secretary.
This is one appointment that should be fought.

Just one of many things that will be shoved down the throats of the American people. As for this being an innocent mistake, hogwash. He even admitted that he figured his taxes in three of the years, then still did not set things right until it was clear that he would be named to head this post.

Call your senators and voice your thoughts.
