Dems launch anti-Limbaugh petition

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/28/art.limbaugh.gi.jpg caption="Democrats are launching a petition against Limbaugh over his recent comments."]

(CNN) - In a bid to capitalize on Rush Limbaugh's recent comment that he hopes President Obama "fails," national Democrats launched a petition drive Wednesday taking direct aim at the conservative radio host.

"Jobs, health care, our place in the world - the stakes for our nation are high and every American needs President Obama to succeed," says the petition, sponsored by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's Attacks - sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama."

Limbaugh told listeners last week he sharply disagrees with Republicans who have said they hope Obama succeeds as president, and particularly expressed frustration over what he viewed as the "absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care."

"If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down," Limbaugh said. "I hope he fails."

The comment sparked outrage in Democratic circles, while defenders of the remark said it was made purely in the context of Obama's economic polices.

Still, the DCCC petition not only provides an outlet for Democratic anger at Limbaugh, but also serves as a vehicle to gain names and e-mail addresses, presumably for later use in fundraising and organizing efforts.

The petition follows reports Obama warned GOP congressional leaders last week that they should stop listening to the conservative talker, prompting Limbaugh’s response that the new president is "frightened of me."

“He’s obviously more frightened of me than he is [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell,” Limbaugh told listeners Monday. “He’s more frightened of me, then he is of say, [House Minority Leader] John Boehner, which doesn’t say much about our party.”

What we need in this country are people of good will and real Americans to work together in a positive spirit. Maybe Rush needs to look around for another country to help.

Why take off a symbol of why the Republican Party got trounced. Possibly they can learn something from this drug addict. Just maybe it might be to promote something positive for the country.

We shouldn't even give Limbaugh the time of day or to respond to
his no good rants. He, who believes he is Pro-America. He should be exposed as the treasonous wretch that he is.

Now is not the time for sarcasm. If you're not going to help with solution, please don't add to the problem. Rush could use some therapy to become a productive, positive person.

Aren't there enough people in other countries that want to see America fail? Do we really want to send the message that we are not united in our efforts to succeed? Why encourage that sentiment? People can't be that ignorant to be divided because of a political party.
Grow up and be a responsible human being.

If Limbaugh wants Obama to fail then he also wants the USA to fail and fall into a deep depression. This man is not a patriot, I dare say he isn't an American either. What he is, is a disgrace.

Rush is saying that he hopes Obama's Marxist agenda fails. If President Obama reounces that Marxist agenda and adopts an agenda which is more in line with America's historical values, then I suspect Rush would want President Obama to succeed in pushing through that proper agenda.

I have no idea where his expertise is , but it is not politics and bipartisonship. People I know listen to this windbag and it aggravates me because somebody's money is paying for his stupidity and he is making a fortune off his stupidity. As far as President Obama being afraid of him, we all are!!!! He is an arrogant stupid man and stupidity has always scared the hell out of me!!!!!

Limbaugh is nothing but a selfish, uncaring egotist. I'm glad he is internally hemorrhaging over President Obama's popularity. He is not fit to be called an American. The country would be better off without him. If he hopes Obama fails, why doesn't he just get out!

I don't recall anyone–including Limbaugh–having given up first amendment rights. The Democratic National Campaign needs to find a better way to spend its time, money and effort.

Limbaugh is little more than an outspoken bigot. Haven't people had enough of his hate-mongering? He's the worst thing about Cape Girardeau, Mo.

I am with the Democrats. Limbaugh can only appeal to certain people. Nobody wants Obama to fail – Limbaugh is just looking rating. If people stop listening to him therefore his rating would go down. We as Americans, no matter if we are Democrat or Republican, we should all want good for this country and the people of this country.

Limbaugh petition? Get a life – or rather, the Dems should spend their time doing THEIR job rathre than spending it trying to deny Limbaugh his freedom of speech. Really, fear of Limbaugh doesn't say much for the Dems! Only makes you look sillier.
