Dems launch anti-Limbaugh petition

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/28/art.limbaugh.gi.jpg caption="Democrats are launching a petition against Limbaugh over his recent comments."]

(CNN) - In a bid to capitalize on Rush Limbaugh's recent comment that he hopes President Obama "fails," national Democrats launched a petition drive Wednesday taking direct aim at the conservative radio host.

"Jobs, health care, our place in the world - the stakes for our nation are high and every American needs President Obama to succeed," says the petition, sponsored by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's Attacks - sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama."

Limbaugh told listeners last week he sharply disagrees with Republicans who have said they hope Obama succeeds as president, and particularly expressed frustration over what he viewed as the "absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care."

"If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down," Limbaugh said. "I hope he fails."

The comment sparked outrage in Democratic circles, while defenders of the remark said it was made purely in the context of Obama's economic polices.

Still, the DCCC petition not only provides an outlet for Democratic anger at Limbaugh, but also serves as a vehicle to gain names and e-mail addresses, presumably for later use in fundraising and organizing efforts.

The petition follows reports Obama warned GOP congressional leaders last week that they should stop listening to the conservative talker, prompting Limbaugh’s response that the new president is "frightened of me."

“He’s obviously more frightened of me than he is [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell,” Limbaugh told listeners Monday. “He’s more frightened of me, then he is of say, [House Minority Leader] John Boehner, which doesn’t say much about our party.”

There is not much to say about Rush. He is a mean, bitter, vile human being. He works with such despair at making everyone who is stupid enough to listen to him miserable. The man lies, cheats and breaks the law. He is such a sad excuse for a man.

Rush Limbaugh is a piece of excrement that outlived his usefulness within seconds of hatching. Anyone who listens to him has been brain dead for decades. He and his listeners are completely and increasingly irrelevant.

    My, my...

The entire left seems to be shaking in their boots over a radio talk
    show host.

I wonder how they're going to handle the next 9/11 attack?

"On March 19, 2007 Limbaugh referred to Barack Obama as a "magic negro," citing an L.A. Times editorial by David Ehrenstein which claimed that Obama was filling the role of the magic negro, and that this explained his appeal to voters. Limbaugh then later played a song by Paul Shanklin, "Barack the Magic Negro," sung to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon.Limbaugh had previously referred to Obama as "Halfrican American", a term which he also applied to actress Halle Berry. Limbaugh cited the Ehrenstein editorial, and said that the point of the comment was to highlight "race-obsessed Democrats", who had questioned whether Obama was black enough."...What a Bigot !!!

Frightened of him? Me too. I'm frightened of hypocrites and drug abusers in general, though.

Rush Lumbaugh should be taken off the public airwaves! He is a liar, he is a hate-monger and he is an idiot. As we pray that America is not collapsing around our feet, this anti Amercan jerk is telling people he hopes we fail. It was his Republican Party that bailed out the big banks but has not helped people of this country for one second.
BRING back the Fairness Doctrine for journalists and he will be done, finished. It is the correct thing to do.
WE, the people, OWN the public airwaves and hate mongers and idiots need to be sweeped away. Where is the petititon so I can sign

Wow, don't you see the obvious??

"petition follows reports Obama warned GOP congressional leaders last week that they should stop listening to the conservative talker"

Warn, warn who, big brother really getting big now. Everyone has the right to say and believe anything they want. Now Obama is warning people not to listen to different ideas. I would say Obama is a socialist, but now he seems to be approaching a facist...

As much as I hate Rush Limbaugh opinion, he does have the right to express it on the air. You don't need a stupid petition, if you don't agree with what he says, stop listening to his show. It's just that easy.

Best thing Dems can do is ignore the SOB. Stop fixating on his bloviations. Each person obsessed with this montebanc elevates him in the ears and eyes of his loyal listeners. Here's my thought: he's not worth the dust the wind blows in my face.

Rush Limbaugh is the supreme ARMPIT of America. Any person who
pays attention to this thing of a person is no better than what he is. The conservative groups have often branded anti-conservatives as unamerican. If anyone is unamerican it is Rush Limbaugh and his followers. Rush Limbaugh is a terrorist.

This man is evil and always has been. To hope that our president fails regardless of which party you belong to in times like we are having right now is just pure evil and self-serving. I have always thought that he was a wack -job. I think the drugs he used have killed too many brain cells and his thinking process is distorted. I will be praying that people are not stupid enough to buy into his nonsense. God help us with radio bigots like this.

Let Limbaugh continue, everyone knows he's a self important blow-hard. We don't need a petition drive, just give him a little more rope and he'll hang himself, he's unable to modulate his juvenile opinions.

How about we, the US citizens, start a petition to demand Reid, Pelosi, Frank and Dodd leave Washington?

Limbaugh is a pompous jerk. People need to stop patronizing that fool. He's taken so much pain meds and viagra that it probably altered his brain waves. TIME TO RETIRE, RUSH!

Petitioning idiots only serves to stroke their ego. It validates their claim of "see, they hate me. I must be telling the truth." by responding to their idiocy. It would be far better, and far more effective, to respond appropriately to what they are- a bit of foul oral flatulence powered by an enormous cranial vacuum that will quickly dissipate and disappear if ignored.

Our country is greatly in need of support from everyone; however, there are always well educated individuals who make no effort to even listen or even wake up to face the reality. It's so sad. Limbaugh is so one-sided, and so many people adore his preaching. Wake up people. This is 2009.

Limbaugh is an ego maniac who could care less if the country recovers as long as he is paid to spew his message of hate. I wonder if he was unemployed, struggling to pay his bills would his message be the same? He needs to understand no one is afraid of him just disgusted.

We should all just forget him and the people who listens to him. What they fail to realize is that if the country fails we all fail. He should be brought on treason charges. If he loved this country as much as he likes us to think, he would rewire his brain with some intelligence. He just wants to stay in the spotlight for racist people.
