Obama and Palin attending same weekend dinner

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/29/art.getty.palin.waving.jpg caption=" Gov. Sarah Palin and President Barack Obama will be at the annual Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night here in the nation's capital."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Guess who's attending the same dinner this weekend?

President Barack Obama and Sarah Palin.

Both will be at the annual Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night here in the nation's capital. The club has a small exclusive membership, and a raucous annual black-tie dinner that’s technically off the record.

George W. Bush was an annual attendee of the dinner, and Barack Obama is expected to keep that tradition alive this weekend.

The dinner is just one of a number of events that the former Republican vice presidential nominee will attend on her trip to Washington this weekend.

In a statement released yesterday, the Alaska governor's office says Palin will show up at "a number of non-partisan functions" and will also visit "with her D.C. staff to continue discussions concerning the president's stimulus package and Alaska dollars."

Palin is slated to attend a dinner Friday night at the residence of Fred and Marlene Malek. Fred Malek is a businessman who served Republican presidents Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush. High-profile guests from both political parties are expected to attend the function.

The governor's office also says Palin will attend a luncheon at the Center for Strategic and International Studies Saturday before heading over the to Alfafa Dinner.

This title is misleading and a bit scarey. I at first thought the president was asking Sara Palin to meet over dinner.. I am very glad to know it is not the case.

YEAH!! Since she was so insistent about him NOT QUALIFIED, and PALLING AROUND WITH TERRORISTS..why is she interested in meeting with such a guy? Wow...whatever happened to principle?

I wonder if she is going to charge the state of Alaska to fly her whole family to Washington to attend this one as well.

Would love to have him ask her "what she thinks about a community organizer now".

I hope they don't let her give a speech, I hear she is not too good at giving any especially for ones that require some knowledge of a particular topic.

She isn't smarter than Obama, is she the governor of Alaska or not. What is she doing in DC?

Obama will invite she and her family to the White House for dinner soon. He's that type of guy.

The article says they are going to be at the same event. No mention of a meeting; even if they did meet of what value would it be?

The president should definitely thank Palin for accepting Sen. McCain's invitation to run for VP. Her general world view (if she has one at all) and knowledge base (or lack there of) I think helped keep people from voting for Sen. McCain.

It amuses me that most people who post in these blogs end up quoting Tina Fey instead of Sarah Palin.

Some of you need to show the same maturity of our President that you voted for, and get on with your little lives. Sarah Palin got where she was because of her intelligence, integrity, and willingness to serve.

If she were as dumb as many of you pretend she is, she would be spending all day posting hate mail here instead of serving as governor of one of our states.

To John, Virginia: Please, more qualified than Obama to do what?? Certainly not being president. She wouldn't even be competent enough to put together a cabinet let alone run the White House. You are right, she is honest.... honest to God unqualified to be president!

I see we have another political parrot. Palin never said "she could see Russia from her house." That was Tina on SNL. As educated and well informed as any Obama voter I see.

"Alaska dollars"? The currency in Alaska is not USD? No one wishes that Ms. Palin stays in Alaska. Alaska deserved better than that.

To: Just a Thought – the media always addressed President Bush as "Bush" so get over yourself and quit trying to make something out of nothing. And if your intent on being so politically correct then the heading should be "President Obama and Governor Palin" This Obama loving crap is insane. The man is NOT GOD!

Why is everyone still so angry with Sarah Palin? She is doing what she is supposed to do... her job. All of the republicans that did not vote Obama have excepted that he is our president and respect that.. you do not see comments dogging him out... so, why can't y'all give her a break already. If you did not like her, you should be glad that she did not win and get over it. Get a life already. And if you don't like that CNN is still talking about her...then why not just stop reading it. No one is making you click on this story and read it.

Linking her name with the President's gives her some sort of legitimacy to which she is not entitled. CNN, you are really starting to make me sick. There are 49 other governors you can talk about. Pick one more worthy.
