WASHINGTON (CNN) - Mike Duncan earned 48 votes in the second round of balloting in the RNC chairman’s race, putting him in a tie with a strengthening Michael Steele, who increased his tally.
Duncan lost the support of four committee members, to the benefit of each of his rivals.
But the sitting RNC chair is far from finished: Some committee members predict that balloting in the chairman’s race could last six rounds, and major shifts in the dynamic of the race aren’t expected until the third or fourth rounds.
Steele increased his support by two votes after the second round. South Carolina GOP chairman Katon Dawson picked up one vote on the second ballot, finishing with 29 votes. Michigan GOP chairman Saul Anuzis picked up two votes, and now has 24 supporters.
Ken Blackwell lost a vote, as his total dropped to 19 votes.

Who's money is on Michael Steele or Ken Blackwell? Yeah!!! Right!!! You'd better get Limbaugh's & Hannity's approval for those choices!!!!!
Michael Steele is from my own state...he is a neo-con...just what the repugs need!
Somehow... the idea of the Titanic come to mind....
How many guys were playing in the band????
Keep waiting... the water is just over the bow right about now.... just a little longer....
To Dean Dunham. NO, the republican partisanship shows that the republicans are listening to the American people as we all shout NO MORE BAILOUTS. Now Obama calls them "stimulus" plans, but they do no stimulus to the economy because people use the extra money to pay off things they've already bought and are in debt for, rather than using it to spend and stimulate the economy.
Rush is in charge anyway, so what does it matter?
The king is Rush and everyone else are just his jesters.
Please, let logic prevail.
Too long has the core of the Republican party been inspired by selfishness, anemic thinking and total nonsense.
Now all of a sudden the Repugs like black people?
To Jeff
Being fair and balanced means finding other sources of information, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, Reuters, AP, ABC, NBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, CBS, heck even Google News would give you a better idea of what the news is.
---
If this is who you get your news from, then no wonder you walk around with blinders on.
I challenge you to take the story of the day and listen to each of the news agencies, and THEN do some legitimate research into the story. What you WILL find will amaze you. Part of what you will find is that, even though they all reported on the same story, that each stations story has a different twist. And IF you really get into the research, you will find that you are only getting PART OF the STORY.
It is kind of like that story on RUSH, where they took only 1 little snippett of what he said and blew it completely out of proportion. If the news agencies had published the ENTIRE article, it wouldn't even have been a story. But where are the ratings in that????
As you can tell, I no longer trust ANY news agency because they have decided to MAKE the news instead of REPORT the news.
True journalism in this country today is DEAD.
Suga – Republicans accept/support people of principle no matter what their ethnic background.
Michael Steele is a good man and should be the standard bearer for MY party and I love you bigoted geniuses that supported Obama, spewing your hate SOLELY because Steele happens to be black.
You are both as phony as your "messiah" and uh, uh, uh, uh, you want to talk about and empty suit, ARE YOU KIDDING?
You KNOW nothing about Steele who is brilliant and fair minded and when a Republican deserves to be hammered he does it, and when a Democrat deserves praise, HE GIVES it.
Let the "Uncle Tom" remarks from the phony progressives begin in 1,2, 3……………………………….
