Palin lying low during Washington trip

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sarah Palin has firmly remained in the media spotlight since her bid for the vice presidency ended four months ago, but the Alaska governor embraced a decidedly lower profile when she traveled to the nation's capital this weekend.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate has scheduled a busy itinerary of closed-door events and face time with congressional Democrats and Republicans.

She also announced earlier this week she's making the 4,500-mile trek from Alaska to Washington primarily to attend the Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night - an annual closed-door roast of the nation's political elite.

But it's what's missing from Palin's schedule that is causing more than a few heads to turn. In a city that is ground-zero for national political journalists, Palin has not scheduled a single media interview or indicated she will hold a press conference.

Palin belongs in Alaska, taking care of state business and her children and grandchild. She does not belong on the national stage w/same and, as far as my opinion, she is a complete failure as a mother, which should be her most important role. According to news reports, she does not believe in literal sex education and eschews birth control, and did not protect her daughter by education from pregnancy at the tender age of 17. Who is going to care for the children – Tryg, especially? Bristol and boyfriend have no education and who will care for their child? The woman's priorities are so backward because she is addicted to lights, cameras and attention! She isn't qualified for national office; she apparently cannot read and certainly cannot speak coherently. Go back to Wasilla and take care of your business, Palin!
This is not a beauty pageant, honey!

Seems like she's finally listening to all those other republicans who are saying she should stay out of the spotlight for a while so the media and the public can get over the animosity toward her.

Of course, even if she were to give an interview, we would be confused as to what she was trying to say. I can't understand how someone who graduated with a journalism degree can hate reporters. After all, that's the job she was supposedly educated to do in some form or another. Obviously, she wasn't a political science major.

If Palin is avoiding the media can the media not return the favor? That would keep us from having to hear about her.

Good for you Governor Palin. CNN, NBC,CBS, ABC, CNBC shame on all of you and your journalists. All the hate that comes out of you would plug a toilet. Leave this woman and Caroline Kennedy alone.

There are other news worthy events happening to report on and write about such as the current administration's cabinet members that cheated the IRS. Where are you CNN asking the tough questions to "keeping them honest"? Isn't this what you advertise? We, as common citizens would go to jail and pay a stiff penalty if we evaded paying our taxes.

Don't sweep it under the rug. It should be exposed to the American people.

She doesn't want anyone asking her real questions that she can't answer. She will only release statements to the main stream media and will talk to the Glen Beck's, Rush and Hannity whom have fallen for her beauty only and not join the rest of the lower 48 realizing she is dumb as a door knob. This doesn't suprise me – it's exactly what I expected. Wait till she's back in AK and she will release a statement to you guys.

Good. She has nothing intelligent ever to say and perhaps she is vaguely aware of that now; thus, the reason for keeping a low profile. Maybe she'll finally get the message and vanish but she's too dumb to do that. Pity, because the vast majority of Americans certainly do not want Miss Brainless Entity in their midst. Not now when they finally got rid of another brainless entity, namely Bush the totally cluess one.

[An official with the Alaska Volcano Observatory told FOX News that they were expecting an eruption within days. The level of seismic activity had dipped from Sunday's peak, but the AVO did not feel comfortable lowering the threat level.] Jan 30, 2009

Shouldn't the Governor remain in Alaska to be available during this seismic event instead of attending events in Washington to further her political career?

When will this backwoods, half wit realize that a) she is NOT the future of the party and b) she is not relevant.

She is trying to be the Spiro Agnew of the new millemium by attacking the press. Yes, those people who did their job and asked her questions to which she stunk at.

Hate to think what would of happened if Katie Couric asked Sara her full name, date of birth and what planet she was on...

    Sara ..... PLEASE GO AWAY>>>>>>>> NOW !!!!!!

Freedom of the press? We need freedom FROM the press! It's getting to be more of a punishment than a right!
There is one silver-lining to this media side-show : People are going to hate hearing about Palin so much that she'll never get elected to anything south of Alaska.THANK GOD!

Is anyone surprised by this? This woman can hardly put an intelligent sentance together let alone do it in front of a camera. The best thing for this country would be for Ms. Palin to quietly disappear into the Alaskan mountains and never be heard from again.

If Sarah Palin is "lying low" during this trip to Washington ... why are you reporting on her at all?

For the last 4 months, the media has been saying that Sarah Palin has been doing too many interviews and being too public...now that she is being reserved and not granting interviews, you have a problem with that. Which is it? Do you want her to stay out of the spot light or stay in? Does it help your ratings if she is on camera making a fool of herself? She is the Governor of Alaska. She is not a national figure...let her stay where she is...im happy i dont have to see another interview with her!

"Palin is traveling to Washington to lobby senators to approve certain infrastructure projects for Alaska in the economic stimulus package."

Seriously?! What happened to fighting pork? What happened to being a maverick and rallying against earmarks? Oh yeah, it's Sarah Palin. She literally doesn't know the meaning of the word "hypocrite."

I cannot believe anyone in Congress would consult with this woman. She has nothing to offer nor can she provide any intelligent advise on the problems facing this country – she is totally clueless and "dumber-than-a bucket of rocks". My beloved Republican Party has suffered enough of an embarrasment from this woman – Please stop!!!!!

I think this air head needs to go back to Alaska and deal with isssues in her own state, she is supposedly still the governor of Alaska right? She better go save her little state before that volcano erupts, that would be a mess! She is such a joke.

Well, CNN, it may seem long ago that we've been stuck with Obama to you, but the election was-not yet 3 months ago.

Palin is calling the shots now and knows to limit her appearances with careful selection.

    Smart lady!
