Who has Obama's e-mail address?

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/02/02/art.bb.gi.jpg caption="Obama is staying mum on who has his e-mail address."]
(CNN) - He's the first commander-in-chief to carry a BlackBerry-like device — but that doesn’t mean he’s reachable. President Obama is staying mum on the identity of the privileged few who’ve been given his new e-mail address.

In an interview with NBC Sunday, the president said only a "handful" of people are able to contact him through the super-secure device.

"Look, there are security issues involved," Obama said. "And so we’ve gotta make sure that I’m not - creating a situation where - you know, potential people can compromise our [security].

Obama also suggested the list does not include any world leaders.

"Typically, world leaders are going to be contacting me through the Oval Office. They know how to reach me there," he said.

The exclusive list of those who have the president's e-mail address reportedly includes a small group of senior aides and cabinet officials. According to a report in the New York Times, security precautions make it impossible to forward an e-mail from the president, or to send the president attachments.

It's also likely Obama's e-mail address will change frequently to ensure it remains secure.

Speaking Saturday in front of the Alfalfa Club Dinner - an annual event attended by the country's political elite - Obama joked about the ultra-limited access to president’s inbox.

"It's a very exclusive list. How exclusive? Everyone look at the person sitting on your left. Now look at the person sitting on your right. None of you have my e-mail address."

I'm getting tired of hearing about Barack Obama's technology woes. There has been so much news about his blackberry and his email, I feel like there is more important things going on in the world. This article is is more suited for a celebrity gossip column than a political ticker.

The fact that Obama has his blackberry still and uses e-mail is huge. No president before him has ever used e-mail. It shows that he is turning the whole thing around. He gonna make big changes throughout his presidency. The email is just one small thing.

This is only because it is Obama. If Bush had a private email address, given to a select few, Congress would try to force him to produce the list and then hold a senate sub committee.

The only reason liberals are saying who cares, is because this is Obama and not Bush!

To those still crying about the President's so called ties to individuals such as Ayers, Rezko, etc... I mean the people McCain/Palin used as a platform for their campaign – and LOST! This is still a non-issue. Try and find another reason to hate Obama. At least a legitimate reason will make you look more intelligent than you really are.

Here's the thing- white house emails are public records subject to subpoena. Will these emails be exempt?

This is quite a feeble attempt of an attack on the President, even for a 'Country First' Walmart Patriot. Oh Dear, you even misspelled Farrakhan.

All y'all spouting off the names Rezko, Ayers, etc. Think about what you are saying. They don't need the President's email address.

    They have lobbyists.

  23. Out of touch

I thought the main reason Obama wanted to keep his BB was because he wanted to stay in touch with the real world. Doesn't sound like he'll be doing much of that!

Whatever He needs to do a good job for our country he should have.

The OBAMABERRY sounds like a wonderful device, I have no need for it and neither does 350 million other americans. If thats what keeps him calm, cool and collected and run this country instead of run it into the ground like the BUSHBerry (non-existant) then:

    So be it.

    You go Mr. President.

  25. Dont blame me

By law, Obama CANNOT DELETE any of these emails, so I wonder what the Secret Service is doing to make sure that Obama doesn't do this???? Everything he does while president is the property of the people, for historical purposes if nothing else.
