Who has Obama's e-mail address?

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/02/02/art.bb.gi.jpg caption="Obama is staying mum on who has his e-mail address."]
(CNN) - He's the first commander-in-chief to carry a BlackBerry-like device — but that doesn’t mean he’s reachable. President Obama is staying mum on the identity of the privileged few who’ve been given his new e-mail address.

In an interview with NBC Sunday, the president said only a "handful" of people are able to contact him through the super-secure device.

"Look, there are security issues involved," Obama said. "And so we’ve gotta make sure that I’m not - creating a situation where - you know, potential people can compromise our [security].

Obama also suggested the list does not include any world leaders.

"Typically, world leaders are going to be contacting me through the Oval Office. They know how to reach me there," he said.

The exclusive list of those who have the president's e-mail address reportedly includes a small group of senior aides and cabinet officials. According to a report in the New York Times, security precautions make it impossible to forward an e-mail from the president, or to send the president attachments.

Watch: The secret side of Obama's BlackBerry

It's also likely Obama's e-mail address will change frequently to ensure it remains secure.

Speaking Saturday in front of the Alfalfa Club Dinner - an annual event attended by the country's political elite - Obama joked about the ultra-limited access to president’s inbox.

"It's a very exclusive list. How exclusive? Everyone look at the person sitting on your left. Now look at the person sitting on your right. None of you have my e-mail address."

Well lets see. it's a government loaned and rigged blackberry

I'm sure the secret service has his email address. I'm surprised whole blackberry thing is really an issue. It's basically a redphone that's mobile.

To everyone that says "stop hating OUR president," what about bush? democrats didn't seem to care about respecting the office then. what gives? Oh, yeah, liberal open-mindedness means being open minded to anyone who feels the same way you do. Way to be 🙁 But agreed, let's all come together.

This must be Obama's way of keeping his conversations SECRET and not being recorded for future history evaluation. Nixon tried this, too. This is NOT an open honest government like he promised. Already hiding his doings is NOT unlike Watergate and many other secret clandestine happenings.

A young man sat down next to an old man at a football game. The old man had a little trouble making change for popcorn. With distain the young man said old man get out of the way it is time for the new generation..

We are the young generation you are old and decrepit move over. The old man replied.

    Take off young man.

But first you must invent your own transistor. yYu must invent your own silicon chip. You must invent your own computer. You must write your own operating system. You must leverage off of what all the old folks have done for you if you truly want to be on your own.

We started with NOTHING. You have our technology legacy to build from.

It is clear that technology needs to move forward, it seems stupid for those of you pushing it to not give credit to those who built the foundation on which you stand.

Let's incorporate the technology for the betterment of us all, not just for some technological elite who do not appreciate what they have.

    @ TCM

Please. We're all well familiar with the technology involved here. After all, McCain invented the Blackberry and made it famous during his campaign. You GOPers are just looking for any little thing on which you can hang a talking point. Newsflash: nobody's buying your divisive rhetoric anymore except for others like you who are already convinced, so you're not winning any converts, just preaching to your choire.

I don't understand how the Democrates can consider someone for an office when they can not even pay their taxes. If anyone else did that they would be thrown in prison after they had everything they owned taken away. Why isn't Dashle being trated the same?

Pretty sad considering you can't declare bankrupcy on student loans – if you are successful in reducing your student loans through one of their programs, , they call it a gift and you must pay taxes on the amt it is reduced. And, don't forget the student loans being collected on today are from the 80's and 90's with interest rates around 10-15% Great move for the government to not permit anyone to declare their student loans on a bankrupcy. Stick it to the poor suckers stupid enough to take a student loan at those high rates. Most of them will never be able to pay them back but will be making payments on them the rest of their lives. That is- at least they will be when they have jobs.

News articles like "New government commission blasts Iraq waste, fraud" are far more important to the citizens of our country than a blackberry.

I must pay 400.00 per month to cover only the interest accumulating on my student loans. If I lose my job, it keeps compounding. .

What's funny is how the right wingers defend their pedophiles, drug addicts, rapists etc.... by claiming there is no proof and blah blah...

(even though some of them were actually convicted)

but somehow the democratic party is "scandal ridden" because some guys screwed up on their taxes or President Obama talked to someone that might have done something at sometime in the past but was never proven.

    Hypocrisy, thy name is Republican.

Bill Mahers said it best " some people are to stupid to have a leader". It seems as though he was talking about the Republican Party and all of their leaders, ie. Rush Limbaugh.

This guy can read and write! Bush didn't have an email, know what the INTERNETS were, even how to get on the GOOGLE! What a great communicator he was! (NOT!) IBush didn't have a clue. It's hard to believe that we now have a president how can actually communicate. Obama is a war time president, so stop your hate'n all you unpatriotic treasonos Limbaugh people!

it is great he is modern, but he really looks like he is drowning into the device. It reminds me my husband who is constantly on his cell, – it feels like he cares only about is his cell, not us – his family...these gadgets can get addicitve. But if it helps him to be better leader...
