Who has Obama's e-mail address?

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/02/02/art.bb.gi.jpg caption="Obama is staying mum on who has his e-mail address."]
(CNN) - He's the first commander-in-chief to carry a BlackBerry-like device — but that doesn’t mean he’s reachable. President Obama is staying mum on the identity of the privileged few who’ve been given his new e-mail address.

In an interview with NBC Sunday, the president said only a "handful" of people are able to contact him through the super-secure device.

"Look, there are security issues involved," Obama said. "And so we’ve gotta make sure that I’m not - creating a situation where - you know, potential people can compromise our [security].

Obama also suggested the list does not include any world leaders.

"Typically, world leaders are going to be contacting me through the Oval Office. They know how to reach me there," he said.

The exclusive list of those who have the president's e-mail address reportedly includes a small group of senior aides and cabinet officials. According to a report in the New York Times, security precautions make it impossible to forward an e-mail from the president, or to send the president attachments.

It's also likely Obama's e-mail address will change frequently to ensure it remains secure.

Speaking Saturday in front of the Alfalfa Club Dinner - an annual event attended by the country's political elite - Obama joked about the ultra-limited access to president’s inbox.

"It's a very exclusive list. How exclusive? Everyone look at the person sitting on your left. Now look at the person sitting on your right. None of you have my e-mail address."

Are you people this mean in real life to other people's faces, or is it the anonymity of the internet that makes it OK to be so horrible to each other?

All executives in the world have a blackberry, so what's the big deal? Geez. Some of you need to leave the blogging world for a couple of weeks. I suggest real human interaction.

Sometimes we can't read between the lines. Realistically, he can not email or talk with the whole world anyway. The media need to back off on some things. Some of the problems we have today is because of the media rather the media wants to recognize it or not. I am really disappointed with some of the things the media reports. The media is so negative now that I try to engage myself and my kids in positive things and we are watching more sports etc..... I hope the President Obama address some of the media issues, so we can start turning our country around.

Figures anti-obomites would use even something as simple as having a portable email device as a way to "dig" at the president.

Hey GOP, at least our president can spell "e-mail!"

And for those who somehow manage to bring the issue of back taxes of a couple cabinet appointees into this... What do you think the IRS would find if they audited all the leaders of the GOP?? That's a rhetorical question, by the way. Many of the republicans complaining about this are so greedy, that to even get a penny more taxes from them the IRS would have to pry it from their cold, dead hands!

Accept it, anti-Obomites! Barak Obama is President of the United States. The majority of Americans elected him. Now...go sulk for a while, and take a long nap. When you wake up, either move forward and together with the rest of us, or get the out of the way!

I don't care how tech savy Obama is. He shouldn't be getting any of his info from the Internet, especially when it comes to national concerns.

You've got to be kidding me....we've got an $800+billion dollar spending bill waiting for approval, an economy in the tanks, and he spends how much money to upgrade his Blackberry so that a "handful" of people can reach him....talk about WASTE!!!!! I thought he was trying to set a new standard?????

Bush, could not have ever used a Blackberry or even a Commodore 64 computer...In fact he has a hard time using a 12 inch ruler...

Even a telephone was a really mystery to him...Which end to speak into..

You have to have some native intelligence to use any of these items.

He judged every thing by the length of a beer bottle..And aids had to hel him with those complex phones..

You conservatives kill me, get over it already ,Obama's is the/your President . The President is a very busy man and he needs to stay in contact with aides and advisers, so it is only logical he has a blackberry. It's called technology..get some! Don't we have more important things to be discussing...like wasting tax payer money with this bailout, or universal healthcare and jobs.....!!

"I'd imagine the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, Wright, Rezko, Ayers, ACORN and others have email access to him. I'm sure Israel is blocked out in the junk filter. Lied about putting lobbyists in his cabinet; keeps appointing tax criminals to senior positions (crap, we don't need a stimulus bill, just get congress to pay their taxes the way we have to!), is going to kill our military, said meet with Iran and others with no preconditions, so now they've placed preconditions on talking to Nobama, Good Grief!!! Is he just way too inexperienced to be a president or does he really intend to kill our country???"

I bet that you voted for Bush, considering this why should anyone take your advice?

I don't want President Obama's emaIl, I want President Obama to get to work by putting all those whinny Republican cry babies in their place by telling them to get to WORK!

It's ONE thing to complain, it's ANOTHER to sit by and do nothing but talk trash in front of a camera. It's NO wonder Rush Limbaugh is the GOP's new Spokesperson. Hello.

Let's get to work people and stop all these childish tit-for-tat BS!!

How crucial is it really for Obama to have a blackberry. What can he do that he wouldnt be able to do without the blackberry. He should have the right to have it, but if its a possible security risk, is it worth the trouble?

@Francis, IL – Since when is being cute a qualification for being President?? It will take more than him being cute to run this country, so you and all those who supported him had better get over your infatuation with him. And as someone else said in their comments, he had better pay more attention to what he is doing than playing with his BlackBerry. That reminds me of my teenage daughter, who continues to talk to me AND text at the same time–can't put it down for a second. The world is NOT his blackberry!

People like 357 and the "fan club" forgot what was spoken in Grant Park. The President said he will be the president of everyone. Some of you giggle, scream, faint, and cry like little school girls at a Jonas Brothers concert. The rest of us will hold his feet to the fire just you did Bush (as it should be). To proclaim him the greatest president ever after 2 weeks is just robotic! I hope the rain doesn't rust you out!

do you not think that we have more important things to concern our national and fiscal problems with than worrying about who has his e mail

what is this world coming to

The Bush Administration used Republican Party servers instead of U.S. Government servers for the majority of their email (similar to Gov. Palin using Yahoo instead of State of Alaska accounts), thus avoiding any requirements to keep those emails for accountability purposes. Nobody in the media got too worked up about that.

But somebody has Obama's email address and it's a scandal. Double standard? You decide!

Great while he is trading emails with Rezko or Rev Wright – the country is going in the toilet.

There are so many news stories on how much money a company loses on employees because of internet, emails, etc and we have a PRESIDENT diddling on his blackberry!!!! What is wrong with you people that voted for this tech want to be!!!!
